take this with a massive bucket of salt, as it is the mirror and they have printed a ton of crap already, (especially as they seem to be the only ones reporting it)

Tragic Cameron Reilly was murdered in Dunleer, Louth after petty verbal row between groups of teens
It has now emerged three groups of young people were regularly in that area at night.
They included 15 to 17-year-olds who would smoke cigarettes, a second group, some of whom were drinking and a third group who used “all types of drugs”.
A source said: “The third group would probably be aged 17 to 25.
“Group A came into contact with group C. Group B [the drinkers] wouldn’t do any harm to anyone.
“Part of group C would be a hardcore element that might fancy themselves as being republicans.
“They’d be hardcore b******s. They’re not going to be broken easily if one of those did that to him.
“Who else did it when it happened in the field where they all hang around?”

Speaking about the other young people who may have been with Cameron and witnessed the murder, the source said: “I think he fell foul of some of the third group.
“And what happened was that group said to his friends, ‘See what happened to him, if you open your mouth you’re next’.
“So a 16-year-old went home petrified and woke up the next morning and Cameron is dead.
“Someone said to me today, ‘Why don’t they just come forward? But I said, ‘Hold on, when you were in the schoolyard and the bully beat up your friend you walked away’.”

You're right, I'm sorry. In hindsight it was extremely stupid of me to post that. It's just something I heard and probably complete nonsense, small town and all that. More than one person had said it to me but bulls**t travels faster and wider than the truth. Also wanted to shine light on why articles are commenting on him having many female friends.

I cannot sleep thinking of the poor man that found him. Imagine so innocently out walking your dog to come across such a horrific scene.
God love him I hope he gets proper councelling.

I know and it could of being easily me who found him as this is normally the shortcut route I use to get to my work everyday that is Glen Dimplex and was working that Saturday but happened to drive in thank god. I’m so torn up inside by all this and am telling you now it’s got to a stage capital punishment needs to be brought to the table imo and clean this country up once and for all rid it of all evil so that it’s safe for my children there children to live in because right now I don’t see it a safe place to live, three murders in no time and to look at two clowns in Varadkar & Harris celebrating on the street bringing abortion to this island, the gay rights bull, oh yeah we are Ireland.

I think it's very hard to know how you'd react until your child was involved in a situation!
I've seen people who'd have had the lock them up throw away the key but when it was their son who did something the attitude changed!

I hope you not referring to my previous post because that is absolutely not where I am coming from.

The way to deal with them effectively is not to take the parents 'feelings' into account. Even over 18's have parents. In fact I do sense that we are not dealing with these ppl effectively because it might be too hard on the parents, 'there're only kids' etc.

Of course if one had a close family relative whether a youth or not that is going down for a serious crime we might feel bad for their punishment and wish it to not be so severe. I'm sure this is true even for the most extraordinarily serious of crimes.

I think if parents are being rational they would prefer their kids punishment to be such that it sorts them out once and for all rather then being lenient on them just to reoffend as soon as they get out.

It wasn't aimed at you. It was more aimed at how people say they would react if they were in the situation with their children.
It's one of these things that I think is very hard to call.

    RIP Cameron Reilly.

I spent a fair bit of time during my childhood visiting my grandparents house in Beechwood Drive. Fond memories of going up to the GAA pitch for a run or a kick around on sunny days, the kind like we're getting at the moment.

The brutally horrific end that a young, innocent life met in this area is just hard to imagine and place into any vision of reality. He wasn't accidentally hit by a car in the darkness, he didn't OD on some tainted drug that he and his friends were trying, he was violently murdered as others watched and then left him alone for the public to find.

It's over for him now, but not his poor family. My heart goes out to them and those who knew and loved Cameron. May he rest in peace.

What? Are you for real? Capital punishment? I completely disagree with that.

What has abortion or gay rights got to do with any of this? I think you'll find you're in the minority if you disagree with either of those things being brought in but they have nothing to do with a case like this anyway.
A teenager was murdered and let's just hope they catch and charge the perpetrator(s).

Indeed they have nothing to do with the case my point being wether you agree or not plus I did add ‘imo’ that when you murder a creation by god then that person only deserves proper punishment not the slap on the wrist btw this issue in crime goes much bigger than anything else.

I'd say the Garda will start lifting people after the funeral is over. It usually happens like that.

Or they'll attend the funeral to scope out the suspects behaviour. Also happens.

Think he meant my post. I meant what i said. I would have gone to the guards. I wouldn't have even thought of going to a solicitor. Obviously now I see that is probably first port of call. I would just not have thought of it.

I'm of similar mindset... I wouldn't have thought of going to a solicitor first, I would've just thought "we have to go to the guards and you have to tell them what you know".
But then... who knows... we never really know how we'll react to these things until they happen to us.

They're draining the reservoir in Dunleer looking for Cameron's phone.

Funeral arrangements were announced yesterday. Mr Reilly will be reposing at Connors Funeral Home in Dunleer tomorrow and Sunday from 2pm until 8pm.

Removal will take place on Monday morning to St Brigid's Church, Dunleer, arriving for the funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards is in Mullary Cemetery.

Manual hard labour should be brought back. Unrelated to this case (probably), but people don't seem to care enough about the consequences for crimes at all anymore.

They have drained the reservoir looking for his phone.

I hope that they are keeping an eye on a few suspects houses and bins.

Although that list may be a bit too many.

Hopefully the Gardaí are closer to making an arrest now, and releasing why this has happened. I feel horrible for the family in this position.

I saw an article about the case today on the Sun, I know it's an awful "News" site/paper but it was taken back to how unprofessionally it was written by these so-called journalists. I stopped reading after this quote in the second paragraph.
Officers believe the lad was killed between 12.30am and 8.30am on Saturday

You think with it being a national paper that they could have at least used Cameron's name and showed a bit more respect than referring to him as "the lad".

How on earth does that get passed editing.

I don't know what is worse leaving the body there and telling no one or not owning up. Have stopped reading the sun and the mirror fb pages as they are full of crap

Similar young men to Cameron have been murdered in Ireland purely because they were gay. Choose your words carefully, you may end up regretting you little homophobic outbursts.

Agree. Prisoners should be made do hard manual labour rather than lounging around watching tv. They should come out of prison mentally and physically broken so they can never again commit crime. All they’d be good for would be manual labour before death. Fcuk the lot of them

Dunleer like many other towns outside Dublin had its Garda station as good as closed by Alan Shatter and Fine Gael ....no guards ... young people can do what they want .. lounge around taking drugs etc ...

It was closed for a years but I'm pretty sure it reopened a few years back and I do see a garda car going about now whereas I didn't for a long time in the early 00s.

My guess is that the guards know who is responsible, but will not make an arrest until Tuesday after the funeral on Monday.
