Rush, the biopic about the battle for the 76 championship between Hunt and Lauda is on tonight at 10.30 on RTÉ2 for anyone who's never seen it. Well worth a watch

That's a brilliant movie even if you are not F1 fan.

Yeah, thought it was pretty bad. The BBC doc "The Real Rush" is a nice antidote.

    This is better still https://vimeo.com/130729199

Nicky is some lad and seem now no matter who he talks to has no problem telling Feck off.

I though it strange the the two Mercs came in while Grosean was still out on track and a chance of a red flag if........

Maybe he was on a slow lap but he could still mess it up. :)

Yep it's called Laudamotion and they will be starting flights from Dublin to Vienna in October. It used to be called Nicky Air when he started it at first. Think it went bust do.
Ryanair will own 78% of it eventually so full control of it.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Lauda is some operator. Had lauda air previously, lost an aircraft. Got into the investigation himself and drove on to force Boeing to own up to the crash being an aircraft issue other than operator issue.
A trust reverser deployed without warning in flight. Boeing said that wouldn't bring the plane down. Lauda personally did multiple sim runs where he crashed every time. In an attempt to force them to own up publicly, he offered to go on a test flight with 2 Boeing pilots where they would create same fault. Boeing eventually finally admitted that it would crash.

Saw the rumour about Kimi during the week but in his interview he also said he was really enjoying racing this year and would have no problem staying on again next year with Ferrari, but it would be up to the team.
I would like to see him hit 40 before he retires while still outpacing some of the young guns. :P

Almost certain to be Andretti if they want it.
Can't see Alonso doing IndyCar full time next year. Think he'll give up F1, finish the WEC season then do a few IndyCar races (not the Indy 500).

Briatore is desperate to get his client Alonso back to Ferrari at all costs and has been making comments critical of Raikonnen in a bid to undermine the Finn's position.

The Rich energy one has been doing the rounds for a while, doesn't seem to be much substance behind them. Nevertheless the situation at Force India is pretty desperate by all accounts. VJ and his buddy are trying to hold out for a higher price and the team needs investment just to survive at this point. If that doesn't happen and a buyer can't be found soon, administration is increasingly likely. We're talking a matter of weeks not months.

Red Bull to have Honda engines

You forgot one so I put it in for you.

We all know Renault do not want to supply Red Bull anymore as the relationship with them is not good and they are not getting anything out of it anymore.
I think Renault will do there best not to renew there contract with Red Bull and Red Bull will have Honda engines next year. Not that there's anything wrong with that Toro Rosso seem to be doing quiet good this year with them.

The Honda is ok but it’s hard to imagine that it’s even as good as the Renault. Hopefully Honda can get it’s act together next year and produce an engine that can match/nearly match merc and Ferrari. Because it needs to be that good to allow red bull to compete for the championship.

I don’t see it happening. But there does seem to be diminishing improvement in engines and closing gaps between them. Hopefully that can lead to RB fighting for more races.

Posted a few pages back, the Renault and Honda next upgrades are for Canada. Renault is 40hp increase and Honda is suppose to be 27hp increase. What ever about honda. 40hp from Renault is a big jump.

Don't know if it's all Renault engines or just Renault Renault getting it.

People have been hoping for that since 2015, and 2016, and 2017, and we're still saying it in 2018. They've improved, sure, but so has everyone else. They've still an absolute mountain to climb to get anywhere near sniffing distance of Merc & Ferrari.

This is it. I can't help thinking it would be a step back for red bull. Scrapping for a lucky win here and there and never really competing with Ferrari or Merc.

The plan is to go with honda for 2 years and then switch to Aston Martin or stay with honda. Switching to a brand new team would take a few years to bare fruit and honda aren't showing promise. So I can't see red bull competing forma championship in the foreseeable future. I can't blame them for wanting to sell.

Aston Martin is said to not join with the new rules and even if, they are more of a wild card than Honda as when did they last make a high tech engine from scratch? Also any newcomer will take time to match the actual teams as they all have years of experience.
Williams is fishing for Porsche to make them their factory team. Also rumours say that people in Williams are deliberately running it down to take it over. And they have a new aero package that is worth 1.5 seconds a lap.

Sure isn't that exactly what the whole grid is trying to do :pac::pac:

That's interesting about Williams. Where does paddy lowe and Claire Williams fit into that? I can't imagine they're holding the car back.

I'd that new aero package going to be introduced in Canada or is the rumour that its being held back indefinitely? F1 is a buyer's market at the moment. Red bull, force India, toro Rosso and Williams are up for sale for the right price if the rumours are to be believed (the rumours are never to be believed until they have actually happened)

Williams is a publicly quoted company meaning that any talk of take overs etc have to be made public and 'holding the car back' is just nonsense talk. Listening to Claire Williams being interviewed it is clear that the expected performance from the wind tunnel has not translated into a fast car.
Having 2 novice drivers does not help either and imho Stroll sounds lost in setting up the car.

Force India / Sauber / Toro Rosso are available for immediate sale, SauBer deal may already be done according to rumours (Alfa) with Red Bull to be off loaded longer term.

Could paddy lowe be eyeing up a take over at Williams?

I think the rumour comes why someone who has all the knowledge of Mercedes and a proven track record of developing a championship winning car, can let a team down so hard.

I very much doubt it. As far as know he doesn't have huge financial backing to run the team.

Renault are within sniffing distance now, when combined with a decent chassis/aero package. So that only leaves Honda...they're still way off the pace, regardless of the car the engine is placed in.
