Maybe I was too subtle?

Possibly.

I still don't think you can really blame the IRFU for taking the stance they did. Lose Jackson and Olding or lose £12m a year in sponsorship. They'd have ditched BOD and ROG in those circumstances never mind Jackson and Olding.

I say that as someone who was gutted that they were sacked.

No, I completely agree. My point was just that if it had been up to Ulster, they would have brought them back.

Good god lets not go over this again. The team seem to have moved on, it'd be great if we did too.

Agreed, enough of the blame game.
Discuss the rugby! WE currently have a coaching staff including;
• Head coach (McFarland) Overseeing all element and primarily the forwards?
• Assistant coach/attack (Peele)
• Scrum coach (Dundon)
• Skills (Malone)
What are we expecting the two other positions to be:
• Director of rugby? or is this now Byrn?
• Defence coach? Surely a defence coach. Will we see payne slot in here?
• Forwards coach?
• Completely different position?

Look who's back. Back again. Arno's back. Tell your friends.

We could potentially field a full backrow of south africans all having had serious knee/acl injuries if that's the case.

That's the dream.

Whilst it's a lot of money, it's absolutely sickening that the sponsor picks the team and not the coach. If the sponsor want's a player gone. Then they are gone. Doesn't matter about fans, coaches, board members. The sponsor is in charge.

Just read on the BBC sport app that of Leinster win the cup that Ulster will automatically qualify and Benneton will play the Ospreys. Hope they are correct.

For this to happen, Ulster would need PRO14 Rugby to earn an eighth spot in the Champions Cup. This is possible if Leinster win the Champions Cup and all of the Challenge Cup semi-finalists qualify for the Champions Cup on merit by finishing in the top six of their respective leagues.

Cardiff and Newcastle have already qualified, while Gloucester currently occupy sixth place in the Aviva Premiership and Pau sit in seventh in the TOP 14. Gloucester travel to Saracens next week and Pau host Toulon.

Were PRO14 Rugby to have an eighth place, Benetton Rugby would play Ospreys in a play-off match.

If he's fully fit, Botha is a good player and Ulster could field a very good back row next season. But they'll need time to gel. Coetzee, Murphy, Botha, Moore, Best, Henderson....that's the basis of a top European pack.

"There is recruitment to come off the pitch too, with Ulster and McFarland now diving into the process of finding two further assistant coaches for him to work with."

I think it's a bit more complicated

His stats before injury for London Irish have been unreal. But do we need a decent 2nd row more?

Hope I'm wrong but I think one of the assistants will be Payne. I think he could make a great coach but I'd far rather see him on the pitch for another 2 or 3 years.

If Deysel can string together a few games then he'll feature. His best game came along side Coetzee so there's hope yet.

Most signings have to be paid into it. Nothing new about that.

Why pick up a guy who is constantly broken down. They have the players already!! Rea and Timoney both look top shelf. It's madness. Go get a Georgian LH for ****s sake. They need a good 2nd row too?
The same retarded mistakes over and over.
How much would Botha cost? It's crazy, the talent is there and they are shy in other areas. They could use another winger as Stockdale will AWOL for periods next year. Bowe is retired, Trimble may as well be and Lyttle can't stay healthy. Ugh

Will Addison from Sale is signed as a utility back next year but your right, unless there’s an academy lad stepping up another back 3 signing would be nice.

How is Hume playing at the moment?

Saw he played for Banbridge in the playoff.

I'd rate Hume quite highly, but he's spent most of his first season out of school injured. So I wouldn't be surprised if it takes him another year of senior rugby before Ulster start looking at him.

Interestingly same as Lowry then. I wonder whether playing in a very dominant team and then slugging it out in the seniors has led to this or else it's just coincidence.

Makes you wonder whether it's sensible to go straight from beating every other school to 1B at age 18. One is huge and one is small but both ended up injured most of the year. Maybe it is just coincidence.

Henderson long term knee injury, but not ACL.

McCloskey fit for Ospreys if required.

Still no Ulster club in 1A then.

Five Ulster teams in 1B. You'd hope that one of them could make it next season.

See Rainey OB missed out on promotion also in last play of the game.
