Jeez so sale sharks kill off the rumours as well. Presumably afraid of the PR fallout. PJ and SO are going to have to go Southern Hemisphere at this stage.

Wouldn't be so sure they did the exact same with James O'Connor.

Yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was a way to go back to the negotiating tables to save themselves more money.

The odd thing is that on some sports bulletins this morning they were reporting that management there were saying that they weren't interested in the court of public opinion, all that matters is that they were not guilty in law. You'd have to wonder where those stories were coming from.

Sale haven't actually said they're not signing them... "There is no substance to the rumours" is not the same as "we aren't signing them".

Olding would be a good signing with Haley and Addison coming to Ireland, but Jackson would be an odd one.

I don’t know if anyone else follows John Cooney on Twitter or instagram but the man is a class act and a really decent person. His latest post is fantastic.

I hope he has a long career at Ulster.

Very impressive person. & a lionhearted player.

It will never be known how great a loss Pienaar has been but Cooney was a revelation throughout Ulster’s annus horribilis.
The 28-year-old walks away with four statistical accolades as the league’s top points scorer (160), most try assists (10), most penalties (30) and, of lesser importance, the most passes (1410).

Reports Carbery ready to move on a short term deal. Really not happy with this if it comes true.

The ideal situation. Everyone isn't happy, so it must be a good deal.

That is someone writing an article from nothing more than the photo that emerged on Twitter. Let's wait and see.

Des Berry has a pretty decent record.

If it's true, it's just sickening a one year deal.
That basically says all you want to know about this move.
Its no benefit to Ulster and solely to help the IRFU. They keep saying Leinster can't force him, but surely that works with Ulster not wanting him also?

Maybe Ulster do want him because they need to wait until after RWC 2019 to land an NIQ 10.

Sends a great message to McPhilips and talent coming through. I appreciate we have no proven depth at 10, but I don't appreciate our 10 becoming second choice for someone to parachute, grab experience and parachute out.

McPhillips can't play every game. And who else have Ulster got ?

    Ulster could have a leinster player starting at 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 next season.

If Carbery is a success oop north there's every chance he could stay long term.

They should just move to Donnybrook at this stage. ;)

    All Leinster backrow is possible

    Jones, Murphy and Timoney

There were reports of McPhilips leaving for Exeter before any of this talk was mentioned. If he had his mind made up, this could explain the IRFU alleged intervention.

Also, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to have another player in the team and not get absolutely flogged every game this season.

or he sees that he can return to his home province and be 1st choice...

None proven sadly, Curtis is more a 12 and I reckon he will be world class eventually. But I'd far rather give them experience/game time when they'll be here for the long run. Really believe these 3 will be very good in couple seasons.

a 21 year old unestablished outhalf wants to play every game.. not watch his older counterpart establish himself as 1st choice.

Now that I think of it, has there been any player loaned to another province that didn't stay on?

Cooney went to Connacht on loan and stayed there on a permanent contract as did Roux, as did Loughman down in Munster.

Even more of a slap in the face for McPhilips. Surely the contract will be with Leinster? but plays for Ulster?
