Would you encourage your teenage daughter to use a vibrator?

Saw this segment on This Morning last week and found it interesting. I don't have a teenage daughter but although I wouldn't give her a sex toy and say 'Off you go then princess', I would certainly encourage the mother to sit her down and explain to her that it's probably not the worst thing in the world if she wanted to go and explore her body intimately for the first time. I'm behind this for one reason: pleasure shouldn't be denied.

How many women of previous generations have gone their whole lives without ever experiencing a real orgasm? Many women can't climax from penetration alone, so a more surgical approach needs to be adopted, with extra attention dedicated to the clitoris, and personally I can't envisage a lot of men back in the day going to those lengths to please their ladies, nor can I envisage those women tending to their own needs, not while the church was still influential and a flick of the bean meant you were destined to spend the afterlife in hell.

It's sad really, and I don't see a major problem with ushering your teenage daughter into that world when they're old enough. Question is, when are they old enough? I wouldn't broach the subject before they're 15. I think 13 and 14 is a bit too young and it can be a confusing enough period as it is, but 15 seems okay.

I'm interested in other pros and cons here, but overall I feel as if pleasure - especially female pleasure, which can be a lot more intense and magical than what we experience - is something that be encouraged, not denied.

I feel like this entire question is some kind of test that will leave responders on a list somewhere.

I think it's an interesting subject personally but I get the 'Jesus what is this?' vibe.

You need to do something better than watch morning tv.
    And, your question, ugh.

However my teenage daughter gets her jollies, I don't want to know.

And she certainly doesn't want to tell me.

    Too much information.

Might get them away from their phones and wasting their lives on social media apps!?

Or else use their phones for something else at least.

"Here ye go, mash this yoke against yer vagoo"

I'd be in favour, as masturbation is a generally healthy thing, but christ-on-a-bike, how on earth do you bring the topic up?

    That's just fúcking weird.

I have 4 daughters, 1 adult, 3 kids - once old enough, they can do whatever they want, with whoever they want as, far as I'm concerned. They can flick their beans till they fall off for all I care, but there is no need for me to know any of the details (or buy any of the equipment!)

You don't; you ask the mother.

I should point out that this thread wouldn't be as controversial if it was about giving a 15-year-old boy a copy of Penthouse. Either way you're encouraging masturbation but it's a lot more taboo when it's a female and that's precisely the problem. The subject is far weirder than it actually is in my view.

Are you talking about the teenagers or vibrators?

I was referring to the other type of 'surgical', something done with precision.

Or just let her revel in the three-pronged attack of Mane, Salah and Firmino and the same effect would be achieved :)

In principle sure, no reason not to, but personally I'd leave it to her mum. Reckon a girl would find it pretty awkward having her dad talk to her about that stuff. I'd have no problem introducing my son to sex toys, and I'd have no problem introducing my daughter to them either but I reckon she might have a problem with it, as we're probably still several generations away from the total normalisation and de-stigmatising of sex.

OP, i'd imagine if the man of the house went to his daughter with a recommendation that:

    a. she use a vibrator
    and
    b. suggest the best type

that she would be quite likely to contact the authorities.

    Just my opinion.

It's actually a thing in Rwanda for mothers to teach their daughters how to squirt:eek:

Now, I'm in the very fortunate position of having experienced a couple of squirters in my time, (I can't recommend it highly enough;)) - but.....the thoughts that their mothers might have taught them to do it - eughh, no that just ruins it!

I'm not lobbying for this. I should've said so in the thread title. I was going to say 'Would you use your wife or partner as a go-between to broach the subject of masturbation to your teenage daughter', but someone would've used a 'go-between' joke and the thread would've been sullied.
