What a woman. What a story. Speechless listening to her. Absolute shameful what is going on. Have no other words. God love her.

"Stand aside"...does that mean she will no longer be on wages and lose her pension or will she be on full wages until her retirement age and then get her full pension?

    Harris should sack her

How can a government agency pay someone off quietly with our tax money?

Was the award made against the (American) laboratory who were negligent?

    https://www.rte.ie/news/courts/2018/0425/957122-vicky-phelan/
This morning the court was told the case had now settled and the case against the HSE could be struck out with no order.

The settlement with the US laboratory for €2.5m was made without admission of liability.

    I'm the same,

I think you suggested before something like mandatory 10 year check ups for everyone, that would make sense.

He did except did he have to say she's 'staring death in the face' at the end. What a class act that lady is, this could be a watershed moment for exposing medical misadventures in ireland

Yes I did, if it can be done for cars once a year it should be possible to do it for humans.

Between the appalling decisions of the NHS with that child Alfie and the incompetence of the HSE with this poor woman’s situation. It’s not been a good week for state run public health systems.

No comparison between poor Alfie who was born with a condition that was incompatible with life in the long term, a brain that was made up of mostly water ......with this woman who was healthy and living her life until a smear test was misdiagnosed. Her treatment could have been so easy and she could have lived a long healthy life .
Alder Hey hospital cared for Alfie for at least a year and he had a medical team that did everything for him . Nothing incompetent about it , the poor parents just couldn’t accept his life was ending.

You’re not comparing like with like .

but I really really love to see how much some Irish people get annoyed at how some other Irish people are interested in those things.

Same. There's about as much chance of me going to a doctor as there is of these shooting pains down my left arm disappearing all by themselves.

Don’t agree, it was a disgrace the way he cut her off when she was about to talk about victims who have died because of this. Extremely ignorant and towing line at all costs

    :pac:

Being in the line of succession to the Crown is the opposite of being one of the oldest people in the World.

If you are Viscount Severn you are now down to Number 11, and unless you go all Richard III on your relatives you're never going to get the big gig. The only way is down. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succession_to_the_British_throne#Current_line_of_succession

But if you are the 11th oldest person in the World (Maria Capovilla), you can only move up. Just hang in there and every death above you gets you closer to the Guinness Book of Records and Worldwide fame https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_verified_oldest_people

    You are misinformed .
There were no other treatments in Italy .Alfies brain was liquifying , no one can regenerate a brain that has no white matter . The Italian hospital were offering to do a tracheotomy and PEG feeding tube to prolong Alfies life . A life on life support with no hope of cure . Italy had no cure or never offered a treatment , only palliative care
