Not too surprised to be honest. Farmers have not been happy with current management for a while now. Sad to see our co-op being run into the ground like this.

Not nice to see alright, but you would imagine there will be plenty of interested parties.
Is there much of a northern milk pool?

Bigger milk pool in the north than the south.

What is the cause of the crisis? Poor management decisions, overpaying for inputs, underselling of outputs?

There isn't much information out there atm on what happened.

Hard to know for sure. They like keeping farmers in the dark. All I know is when our new CEO came in he promised us the sun moon and the stars. Since then he’s been spending money like it’s going out of fashion. Got rid of a lot of the staff that was there for years and replaced them with his own people. The worst thing is some people predicted this would happen. Seems they were right.

Long term structural problems there , no capital investment for years , outdated and obsolete processing machinery with limited capacity. The new ceo overspent trying to gain scale under poor supervision from the board with inevitable results

Yea ur probably right. Agree with you about the board. How they let it get to this stage is beyond me. This didn’t happen overnight

Would do you good to be out this evening. Lovely warm evening ground drying out, grass hopping. Would remind you why you are farming.

Lakeland would be favourites but an announcement would be required soon to quell unrest

Putting in the new scr tag system here next week for fertility and health, was dreading facing into the messing with tail paint and kamars that used to go with ai'ing

What made you decide on SCR. Did you look at many of the systems? Cowmanager, herd insights or smaxtec
Thinking of ringing a few companies here to see what they have to say and get an idea on prices.

I got billed 380 for 4 ton of 27 2.5 5 5 delivered last month from my local co op. I get a bit off at paying but I need to start pricing around more.

Looked at cow manager, but was nearly double the price of scr and three times the money was required up-front for installation, that kind of swayed it to be honest, scr are dealing in ireland a good while aswell so dealer back-up should be no problem, would be wary of cow manager as so few systems have been put in and down the road the back-up mighten be their....
Scr tag is also a lot smaller and tidier then cow manager so less likely to get pulled off, didn't consider a collar system due to hassle of putting them on and wear and tear that goes with collars

I'm getting a full load so price dropped a good bit from the prices I was quoted first

    Who sells it in Ireland...

Have been using SCR milking tech here with 15vyears and it is remarkably robust...

    They look in great condition.
I let Daisy and her two adopted HEx calves out of the shed today and she did handstands in the yard before heading in a beeline to the paddock kicking her heals on the way and leaving her calves abandoned in her wake
A few minutes later (seemed like a age at the time) she remembered her responsibilities and returned back into the yard.
She collected her calves and walked sedately into the paddock where the three of them then preformed complex aerial displays :D

Have a heatime system here find it great but the collars do break and you'll be replacing a percentage of them each year. Biggest problem with the system is the price as it is not sold directly to EFS but goes through Fabdec in the UK as far as I'm aware... Those collars your buying are what 180 each?

It's a tag system being used just brought out the past few months would be a similar size to a bvd retest size tag, 75 euro for a replacement tag if they lose it

Ear tag? That sounds good. Problem with the collars is the are continually banged against the head rails etc. Unbelievable system for heat detection and they remove the dangers of a bull.

Scr heat time pro plus is what it's called looks to be a brilliant system, will go with a automatic drafting gate next year if it works out, will really take the work out of the ai season, the health monitoring side of it will be a great bonous too

Mine, they walk under a scanner, the new ones get read out in the field with a radio beacon... Much easier. The thing guys have to remember is there is an upkeep cost to this technology, its not like a bulk tank in that you buy it and it'll do you 30 years.

Similar but I wouldn't touch moo monitor as you have to change the battery pack every so many years and it's about €10 a pack and the collars will still breakdown. I'm gonna stick with what I have until they come out with something more affordable.
