The 2 litre plastic bottles, filled from the hot tap are a handy way to thaw pipes. No need for the kettle and no risk of scales from boiling water.

The wind is after getting stronger here in the last half hour. No snow falling but the wind is blowing the snow off the fields. There is a large crane working at Dublin Airport erecting what I presume is the new air traffic control tower and I cannot see the warning red blinking lights on it anymore :(

Who had flat batteries this morning? I had to jumper the car, use the pull cord on the quad and use a gas torch on the air breather to start the tractor. I then had to break nearly a foot of rock hard ice in rivers and streams to let water into sheep as I brought them all in from the mountains. I suffered -10c at over 700 metres on the Kerry hills this morning at half seven. Wouldn't change it for the world, the joys of living on the land.
