    Better safe than sorry maybe.

Think so too....think Patsy you answered the question yourself when you said 'do I chance it'.........all I know is that anytime I 'chanced it', things went horribly wrong!

Warning on the news from the task force - people in Leinster and Munster to be indoors by 4pm tomorrow - that people will die if out in the blizzard.

Will you milk again this evening?

Yea. Going milking when the tank is finished washing. The milk lorry went there now. So that's sorted for another 3 days now.

It doesn't seem as cold now as it was this morning. Got the yards cleared with the brush on the loader when there was a bit of a thaw out.

Looking at the GFS weather model the worst snow is not supposed to start in the southeast till 6pm. I guess the 4pm warning was issued to make sure everyone was home by 6.

There were some right belters of showers here in Wexford yesterday afternoon. Visibility wasn't great. You'd nearly want to pull over when driving they were that bad. So going on them you can see why the warnings are in place.

yes i'm glad i heeded the warnings and stayed off the road today. Can't see a thing in those snow showers - heard of cars abandoned and crashed all over the place.

you always have someone who thinks warnings don't apply to them. hope nobody is stupid and selfish tomorrow and puts the emergency services in danger trying to rescue them.

OH and I spent about an hour on ladders stuffing straw into the East facing eaves of the calf rearing shed on Sunday morning. The wind blew some of it down last night and we replaced it this morning. Calves were cosy and comfy after feeding when I left earlier today.
The wind has picked up here in ncd and is blowing snow off the fields :(

I hope he is ok. It's awful weather for older people especially for those who live alone and in remote areas.

Looking at the news there and travellers stranded in Airports. Happened me before. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Got that here too, was blowing straight off the field, literally couldn't see ten foot in front of the jeep.

What kind of a setup have you for ploughing?

A homemade turf bucket that moves snow pretty well

Done for the day! All the animals have silage and water, sheds bedded, calves going mad bouncing around the pens but at least I can get cracking on dehorning on Sat morning since they are in.

Snow blowing in the canopies of the sheds is the biggest problem I'm having but the cows don't seem to mind. Calves have the sense to huddle together in the more sheltered corner of their pen.

2 more days left according to the weather. Dreading the snowstorms due tomorrow evening! The a few days of rain Sunday onwards to melt away everything and turn the ground to slush.

It’ll stunt them a bit but if you can spray or lick them in six weeks or so it will really do a job on them.

I've never had luck with topping or cutting rushes alone. Last year I topped at housing and then sprayed in the Spring with Lupo and they all disappeared. Its a stubborn plant and getting more widespread with the wet summers.

Any idea when this cold snap will end does anyone know?

Good to see the great work by the defence forces today. Without them many people could be spending the next few nights in a&e. Never mind the next 6-12 months recovering!

What was with that lad on the rte news "what's the problem with the runways? I'm looking out the window and it's not snowing"
600acres of apron and 100 machines. They are throwing all they have at it but 6 acres per machine and removing the piles ain't simple...
Did he ever look "out the window" and see just how many aircraft take off in an hour on a normal day?
