I like the orange McLaren, but don't like the blue bits too much

I think it’s great I thought last year there was a lot of times last year you’d need the commentator to tell you what team it was.
It’s be great if everyone was different.

Force India and Toro Rosso will launch tomorrow before testing begins.

Yeah it is, thought toro Rosso car footage was leaked during the week.

It was, don't think it was an official launch though. I wonder will they have a new livery now that they have Honda onboard.

Some great variety in the aero in front of the side pods from all teams. Red Bulls is nuts.

If that RB aero package was installed in an art gallery, you could spend hours admiring the synergy of it all coming together in a beautiful way. On the car though I can't help but think that any kind of coming together will destroy any benefits it has until they can rebuild the car. Why is every team trying to build aero packages for the perfect situation? Only 1 car can ever really be in that out there on their own, nothing to spoil it place, and even then they have to clear the first corner intact. Everyone else will likely take knocks to the bodywork, or to all their little fins, or get caught running in turbulent air, and suddenly their beautiful aero work is ruined. Sometimes keeping it simple is the solution!

A whole 6 laps from the McLaren before sticking it in the gravel. That must be a record over recent years. How long will they have to spend putting everything back together though?

How the hell are you supposed to get into that without breaking anything?

Quite hard to see the driver.

Not much change from last year but I think that livery is fantastic.

Listening to Gary Anderson on Autosport Podcast and he said the multiple layers on front wings and barge boards are to help reconnect turbulent air. But as you say, there’s lots of potential for bits to break and be filled with rubber or debris.

Think I'm falling in love with the Alfa Romeo Sauber combo.

Hopefully not too long. Looks like the wheel came cleanly off the rim with little damage. Alonso was steadily improving before it happened albeit on Supersofts. Merc leading the timesheets on Mediums.

At least it’s not the engine.

I trust McLaren to fix their problems given an engine that can do the laps. Last year they couldn’t even find the problems until Australia.

That is true - at least the engine is not to blame this time.

That said, the Torro Rosso Honda seems to be quietly running up some laps, so something must have come good for the Japanese.

The only thing I'll say against the Alfa Romeo Sauber is that I wanted more of that red on it. It's gorgeous.

The behind the car shot is amazing though!

Interestingly Hartley leads the lap count so far - 18 laps in the TR Honda! That must be a record for a Honda engine car this early in testing. :p

It's being reported that the securing point for the wheel sheared under load on the McLaren. The question is if it is a single part fault, or a design flaw?

Yeah, a lot of reports were coming out from within F1 journalists that the TR Honda was going to be very good this year and some speculated it may even be a shock contender at the top.

Only early days testing but good signs.
