It's utterly abject and with radio's precarious future quite obviously compromised with streaming and online content sites, it's not going to impact on the lives of the radio listening public, never mind the youth of the day with the hackneyed Pet Courtenay or its chuckle brothers in the mornings.

Actually, it says numbers dipped for one quarter and then improved again

The presenter worked 50 hours a week
That's not actually legal. Wonder what the story there is? Strange thing to be heard at a labour case and not be commented on.

    Who was it..??

Was she more expensive that Ruth Scott.?..I very much doubt it..

Is Miller still milking that "Maroon 5" set up....sad

That's what I was wondering. Was she chucked to make room for Scott?

40k a year? Everything in Nova is bargain basement. Article makes it very easy to work out who it is... Don't recall her name, did the 7pm slot on weekdays.

40k in radio is a very very good living. In many other pursuits its not.... it seems?!?

So Ruth Scott was taken on in august, and whomever the above presenter was in that article was sack d on the spot..

    What's going on at nova!?

I must say I don't listen to it much at all now, it's gone to the dogs.

    Listenership is up.

Literacy, not so much, it would seem.

D'oh Scott was taken on in 2017 not 2016.

I think I have figured out who she is, and she pretty much disappeared over night, wondered what happened.

A costly lesson for all commercial radio stations - this will have interesting implications on future radio presenter contracts.

I remember when She was let go and I referred to it at the time. I did think it was strange then. She was subsequently replaced by Jack Hyland and then Lisa Gernon, and then Dee Woods being followed by Lisa Gernon over the evening schedule (current situation). This seems to contradict Nova's management reasoning about what they were going to do with the evening schedule. As was said in the article, they could have cut her salary and got rid of the weekend show.

It still does not make sense to me to this day, having read the article. And she was a good presenter, in case there is any argument about her ability,

Live show vs voice tracked - iirc Nova evening shows where voice tracked for a few months after x left the station.
What's unusual is this happens across a lot of radio stations but its one of the few times that it has gone for resolution (and being successful iirc)

Your timeline is a bit off there. Ruth Scott arrived 12 months later!

I thought it was strange too at the time, and very strange how quickly it happened.

Nova have struggled to get a decent show in replacement for it, a d the pre-recorded thing that's currently on doesn't work.

they could have got the lady in question to do voicetracked show for each night and reduce her salary?

that is what the show now is - a voicetracked one with a different presenter

Stopped listening to it in the mornings - the 2 lads "banter" is painful. 106.8 or q102 eases us to the 10a.m break.

Like GG and we stop like the 2 fools we are for the college of knowledge. Don't mind Dee Woods 80's but after that it's a bit meh.

Courtney comes on when we're winding down for the last 30 - 40 mins and I can't be bothered changing channels. His inane nonsense and his hilarious sounds (weather temp going down and up) are a pain in the hole.

Sad sign when radio is now just being reduced to a Monday to Friday 7AM to 7PM gig by certain stations. Everything outside of that is just automated filler, often badly put together at that. Interesting they seem to readily admit that now though.

We could start a new game of Bingo, everytime the automation slips up. Certain stations would have hourly full house winners though:
    - Voice links being faded in/out like songs
    - Voice links being drowned out by beds
    - long gaps between links and music
    - Cutting a link short to meet the exact hour
    - Cycling rapidly through news/sport/weather jingles without the actual news, sport or weather being present
    - The previous presenter referring to XYZ being up next only for someone totally different to have put together the show
    - When precorded news namechecking a station gets accidentally inserted to a sister station

You forgot "Accidentally playing the first hour of an automated show twice", which has happened on Spin SW before IIRC. And a subset of quickly cycling through the news jingles is the full set of jingles and beds play for 10-15 minutes but someone's clearly forgotten to turn up the fader for the link-up to wherever the news reader is.

    Good times!

Radio NOVA has increased listenership in the three metrics of Weekly Listenership, Daily Listenership and Market Share.

The station has added thousands of listeners, bringing its total weekly listeners to 147,000 (+5,000), daily listeners to 76,000 (+4,000) and market share to 4.1% over the last 3 months.

CEO, Kevin Branigan, said, “We’ve worked very hard to grow our audience in recent years and it’s gratifying to see consistent audience growth across these key metrics. This is a great start to what is going to be a very busy year for Radio Nova”.

So, are we done with this "listeners switching off in droves" horsesh1t now?

It depends on who the listeners are.

Regular listeners switched off in droves, and others that hadn't listened before tuned in, because the MO of the station changed.

    :P
