In general I agree with you - in particular on people suggesting their own niche bands should be more prominent on Nova. But I don't think Iron Maiden should fall under that category. They're one of the best-selling rock bands of all time, with a string of top-ten hits to their name. I think it's fair to say AC/DC would be one of Nova's signature bands - it was the first band they played, for example, and they get regular airtime - and they're musically not miles apart, but AC/DC have never had a top-ten hit strangely. Does it make sense that one should be a signature band but it's "completely detached from reality" to think the other should ever get prime-time airing?

It doesn't have to be the full 8-minute-long Paschendaele, but a quick blast of Run to the Hills as an occasional blow-the-cobwebs-off tune would be nice.

Like I say, in general I agree with you - but think you're being harsh on Maiden.

I think i've heard Metallica more times than Maiden tbh...
AC/DC are a nova band..they fit perfectly into their music policy...not to play rock music....:P
Maiden are a bit shouty for the delicate ears of the U2/Coldplay nova listerership me thinks...

Have noticed lately that their Facebook posts are becoming as crap as their music selection. The morphing into every other radio station continues.

I happened to hear a bit of his show today. He also played Wake Up and Make Love To Me by Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Another song that you would not hear very often. I think Pat James has played that song on his show.

Pat Courtenay deffo mentioned it, and I think he had a track lined up from Motorhead, but I didn't get to hear it being played.

Really hope there was something played. Even Fiachna on Radio 1 played Ace of Spades last night!

Is there a more pathetic, begrudging poster on the whole of boards than Max Headroom?

"It's ridiculous; they didn't play any Motorhead "

    But they did.

"Oh, but the song they played was crap "

But if they played "Motorhead", I think we can guess who'd be giving out that the song selection was utterly predictable.

"Oh, it must have killed them to have played it "

But they've regularly played stuff like that on relevant occasions.

And always with the same daft smiley at the end of it, as if to suggest that making a real point is probably beyond them.

It really is impossible to engage in any sort of cogent discussion against an attitude like that.

Bit of Motorhead on Tony Ainscough now actually. Bomber.

Presumably Max is still unhappy about something though.

:D:D:D:D...Some people are so easily pleased, you (and your cohort Former Former) are obviously big fans of the station, Do you know Motorhead, did you know that Lenny was dead too....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm not the only one here that doesnt like the nova policy ....run along now i think U2 are on again...:p

    (and your cohort Former Former)
I don't think you know what the word "cohort" means.
I'm not the only one here that doesnt like the nova policy
For sure. But you are the only one who is singularly incapable of making a coherent point while debating the matter. You're like the Nelson Muntz of the thread - all you can do is point and laugh, over and over again, even if you're in fact completely wrong.

I'm just challenging you to raise your game for the benefit of everyone here.

Ah, the old reliable "I know you are, but what am I?" point, so beloved of people without an original thought in their head...
