What I mean by that is that you have a high calling given you by God to cooperate with Him in the momentous act of creating a human being.

Yes but not every sexual act is about creating a human, sometimes it's just for pleasure. Sometimes pregnancy isn't possible. If a woman is already pregnant for example, what's the problem with oral sex etc?

Yes, what you say is true. The problem with oral sex is, besides being a debasement of one of the partners, is that it results in the spillage of the sacred sperm.

    There’s no problem at all.

Lots of the over Interpretation from scripture is just a control mechanism to allow people be dominated and become sub servant.

Yes but if the sperm isn't needed because a pregnancy isn't possible it's okay right?

I have to tell that it is a very big problem. Furthermore, it is a sin, which must be confessed.

Still the sperm must end up in the woman.

That’s “A” view but not the only view possible.

You really are in the running for the 'Most Appropriate Username' award, Oweny.

    :D

It does. At least if does if you're okay to swallow.

    Back to the OP.

I'm an Evangelical Christian, and contraception is a very sensible idea as far as I'm concerned. I see no conflict whatsoever between contraception and a biblically grounded faith in Christ.

I will put it like this. You must be free of sin to enter the Kingdom of God. In order to do this Christ instituted the sacrament of penance. You don't have to detail every aspect of your illicit sexual activity. Just tell the Lord you are sorry for all the selfish things you did during sex.

You are not leaving open the possibility of new life.

A blow job isn't selfish, quite the opposite I would have thought.

Remember the list of those who will not enter the Kingdom of God. Fornicators are high on the list. A fornicator is one who sins against his own body.

    It's selfish for one partner.

Needed a good laugh tonight, you've delivered. Don't **** too hard Oweny, you might spill something and never get to heaven...

Do you think that your religion (in cases of Catholics...the Vatican for example) should change with the needs and times and change its views on contraception?

It's like slapping God in the face.

Just messing. I don't see a lot wrong with it as a means of preventing unwanted pregnancies... Particularly for people who would make bad parents (drug/alcohol abusers, unstable or nonexistent relationships)

    It's selfish for one partner.

Only if you don't reciprocate. These kinds of things are not an alternative to sex, for most they are part of the build up. So no waste of sperm. Your sex life sounds dull Owen. You must sometimes long for more.

Masturbation is a grievous sin, which must be confessed. If not, such sinners will not enter the Kingdom of God. God has provided for legitimate release of aged sperm in the monthly wet dream.

When you say “tell the lord”
Have you conceded to my point on the confession thread that you didn’t answer that a just and forgiving god would hear My confession directly and so there would be no need for me to go to confession “locally”.

What does he think of reacharounds, sinful or a magnificent display of dexterity?

Confession is an encounter with the Lord.

I tell you this. Unless you become as a little child, you shall not enter the Kingdom of God. If you do not enter the Kingdom of God, you go to the place of endless darkness.

What about **** in the confessional? Special dispensation?

What's this monthly wet dream you speak of?

Owen just give yourself an aul tug there, come over to the dark side and see how it feels.

Quaker here.In response to the perfectly sensible question the OP raised before the thread got derailed by ridiculous one-liners,I see no issue with contraception.I'm glad that it's largely considered a non-issue now and that people can access contraception services that meet the need of their particular circumstances.

I'm just about old enough to remember the counter in the old Virgin Megastore (I passed it on the way to the video games!) and all of the fuss about that - a bit daft in retrospect.

If you're a Catholic you are not allowed to use rubbers, as you call them. Every act of intercourse must be open to the possibility of human life.

Also open to the possibility of some terrible disease if you don’t use them.

Can you point me to scriptures that support this?

If you restrain from masturbation for a few weeks, God provides an outlet for your sexual desire in the form of a wet dream.

Owen I can't tell if you are genuine or just someone here to take the piss. If you are serious then I feel a bit sorry for you. Science has provided is with the means to control our family and it's great, no-one would want to go back to the days of large families. The world has moved on and there is no going back.

Just out of interest, are you married yourself?
