    But the story of Sodom & Gomorrah is Old Testament, so by your own criteria above, it doesn't count.

    I didn't say that. All the bible is God's word. But the old Testament is pre Christ, and the new is post Christ. I suggested to the poster that he concentrate on the New, to get a quick appraisal of Jesus Christ. It's better to read the New first, and then the Old.
