Anyone seeing battery drain after 8.1? Nothing mental, but noticeably worse after the update......Just trying a factory reset, as I couldn't find a smoking gun....

No USB C to A cable either, so I cant root.... Can anyone suggest a decent third party cable with fast charge?

Ok - thanks for letting me know. I'll keep the right up. They are trying to offer me vouchers for compensation so I'll just keep pushing!

Hope your new device works out better

new one came with two dead pixels! Worse then my old one. Getting another one sent out. :( I am just unlucky though, majority of them are good now :)

Let us know how you get on with support!

Well if you have the original receipt and it the phone hasn't been voided I'd say should be grand.

My sister is travelling to USA in a couple of weeks if I get her to pick up a Pixel 2 unlocked will I have any trouble over here with it?

Or should I just order one from NI?

    Hi there,
I ordered mine from the US Play Store, delivered to my brother in San Francisco. He brought it over at Xmas and I have my Three SIM in it since, 0 issues thankfully.

    Cheers,
    M

Brilliant exactly what I wanted to hear! Did it take long from Google store to bro's house?

I take it at this stage it's quite unlikely that google will release this to any of the carriers here so if I want one I'll have to stump up for it?

Got my new Pixel 2 (after several weeks of bashing heads with Google). However I seem to have issues getting three mobile internet to work. It won't connect to 3g.

When I put in the SIM I get a text from three saying they can't automatically setup the internet.

I have followed all the settings from three.ie and tried 2 sim cards with no luck, so I think there is some device setting or config I need to do.

Customer support have not been much help.

    Has anyone encountered anything similar?

    Hi there,
I have been using Three with my Pixel 2 XL in Dublin since I got it in December and no issues apart from it being dog slow at times!! That's more due to the Three network being overloaded I'd say rather than the handset itself. I get full LTE most of the time and then it drops back to H when there is no LTE.

    All the best,
    M

3 is usually clogged in my experience.
Eir is a better deal when you consider their 30GB of SIM only data is actually usuable and fast.

    They're on:
    GSM 900 & 1800 MHz - 2G
    UMTS 2100 and 900 MHz - 3G
    LTE 800 and 1800 MHz - 4G (Band 3 & Band 20)

Any of those frequencies missing on the US Pixel ?
Could also explain any slowness on 3 if you're missing a band.

According to GSMArena, the Pixel 2 XL comes in one global flavour and has all of those bands.

How much is that 30GB SIM only deal per month?

€25 Euro for first 6 months, €35 per month after that. 30-day contract
30GB in Ireland, 9.5GB EU. They cut your data off and send an SMS if you hit 30GB and you can add various temporary bundles if you over-shoot the limit, as I did recently by accidentally syncing a huge dropbox account.
It includes unlimited calls, texts and some international calls.
Also, while it's irrelevant with this handset, it does actually have WiFi calling too on iPhones and some of the Samsungs, I'd be curious to see if it works on the Google phones.

Also they don't give a damn whether you use it for handset or tethering. It's all data to them and they zero-rate Youtube and some other stuff (so much for net neutrality!)

I'm on 3 for my business phone and I find the Eir speeds consistently FAR better.

Vodafone's really good too, but they're way too expensive.

luckily I am eligible (and most people apparently according to the vodafone X thread on Boards) to get the Vodafone X offer and am delighted with it, switched from 3. So much better, at least where I am in Cork. Went from 5 download to about 70. Signal isn't as good by the coast at my holiday home as 3 though only downside.

Perfect timing subject. I'm coming to the end if my Vodafone contract and moving to.pay as you go. The unlimited data on the pay as you go 20 euro looks good

That's what I am on. I use my phone turned into a hotspot to play Nintendo Switch online as well and rarely have issues.

    Cheers,
