It's pretty obvious Google only like our low tax rate. They treat Irish customers like an inconvenience.

Saw that deal but it looks like mobiles.co.uk is owned by the same company that own cpw and currys so I'm thinking orders from here will just be cancelled in the same way as mine and others were :(

Imagine how much cheaper the postage would be if they actually opened up their stuff to us!

I remember seeing posts of people in the UK etc actually have their pixel 2's shipped from Ireland to the UK. So they have them in warehouses over here somewhere! Same with the original Pixels!

I don't think that's the case though. They just have their address in Grand Canal as default on all orders. They're not actually shipped from here though.

Nope it was near the start of shipping and was only the regular sized Pixel 2's being super excited about getting them etc, and when they were shipping the original pixels to people instead of 6p's for low stock reasons, was in that shipping thread on reddit where people posted their status updates. I remember feeling slightly angry at google over it.

I purchased the Pixel 2 on on Sunday from Currys UK for 499 using parcel motel and credit card. Straight away it was cancelled. I then placed another order using parcel wizard and PayPal, order confirmed and will be delivered tomorrow!

Ah thats what I should have done, but its well worth the 5 hours round trip to get the phone physically into my hands when I hand over the money now

would paypal and parcel motel work?

Yes, it should.... Assuming you set your PayPal address to your PM one.

I did the above and the order was cancelled immediately. If it works for someone else let me know though. The cancellation mail was vague but I'm assuming the PM address is flagged as invalid on their system.

Just spotted this now, still scheduled for delivery and not cancelled? Did you switch your paypal address to be the same as the PW address? Looking forward to seeing if it works for you.

Please let us know if you get the phone.

Once you confirm I will be placing an order for the OH using the same method.

She already had an order from CPW cancelled. Such a pain that Google don't sell here!

just ordered a replacement 2XL off the google store, surprisingly I was able to send this too my Irish address (I put in the dublin parcel motel since I am never home when the couriers arrive!)

Lets hope it goes smoothly, never used dublin PM before

Just curious as to why you needed a replacement? Bad screen?

    Thanks

A dead pixel appeared after 3 weeks or so. Google accepted me for a replacement straight away though thankfully.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why they're allowed to restrict any EU national buying from any EU country. It's a single market. If you're willing to pay the shipping, it really shouldn't be any issue.

Some UK companies not dealing with no-UK cards will not let you enter a non UK billing address and you can't verify your Irish card against a Parcel Motel depot address which is probably why those curry's sales cancel.

Cancelled my RMA and re ordered so I could get irish return labels. No problem what so ever, the 'hold' is in Euro and Google store says it's worth 939 euro. Could only select my Irish address and it says will be shipped soon enough. So they can ship them to Ireland, just they won't. Very weird.

I have an AMEX registered in the UK, linked to my PayPal. I've updated my primary address to Parcel Motel up North. I'm going to try order from Currys/Carphonewarehouse this week.

I'll let you guys know if I get anywhere.

EDIT: Ordered with Currys, and it was immediately cancelled: "Thank you for shopping with us. These items are unavailable for home delivery at this time. We have cancelled your order (XXX) and no payment has been taken. We look forward to welcoming you back on line soon."

Second EDIT: Ordered with CarPhoneWarehouse - no cancellations or concerning emails as of yet...

Last EDIT: CarPhoneWarehouse cancelled, it appears because of an addressing issue. I caved and ordered one on ebay for 541.00GBP.

Has anyone ordered directly from the Google Store? I placed my order on the UK store and shipping via Addresspal.

However I ordered on November 24th with a dispatch date of decemeber 28th. I have been in email hell with Google since January 2nd and all they are saying is they are having stock issues.

Wondering if anyone in the same boat?

Their customer support is shocking to put it mildly.

Thanks for reply. Did you have to chase them originally?

Intrigued as to why you needed to replace so so soon but seems like they are turning that around quickly ..

nope, didn't have to message them at all. Just shipped like normal exactly on the 4th of december as promised.

Had to replace due to a dead pixel popping up sadly :(

Ok - thanks for letting me know. I'll keep the right up. They are trying to offer me vouchers for compensation so I'll just keep pushing!

Hope your new device works out better
