Omg what did I just watch..... A flare gun? Really?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,516 ✭✭✭paleoperson

*Shoves a flare gun into the hands of someone who clearly doesn't want it and can't even hold it*... "Noone's going to get hurt, I promise you".

I swear, are the writers just trolling us all at this stage? Are they laughing inside at what the reaction on boards.ie is going to be?

I've a mate of mine who is a carpenter in rte, they do the sets stage props etc.
He says if you think FC is bad now prop wise wait till the fortcoming cost cutting and redundancies kick in...

A broom isn't going to stop a gang hellbent on kicking you out!

Apart from that, a great episode. Never mind the gun, Oakilly Dokilly will blow the cult to pieces with the explosives he has in the attic...

    Is that a Spud Gun?

Can you imagine the piss take Rebublic of Telly or The Panel would make of that scene with this big long fella with a dodgy beard holding people hostage with a red gun?!!

We are after watching RTE TV gold. This will be re run on RTE comedy shows like Mike Murphy getting Gay Byrne to swear in Trinity.

Reeling in the Years 2018, has to be on it :D

You forget that nobody on RTE is allowed to criticise Fair City, despite their personal beliefs. It falls under "don't bite the hand that feeds you". Shame, coz Brendan O Connor is usually spot on when taking the p!ss but hes quiet as a mouse when it comes to FC.

After all the hype I thought this episode was pathetic.... A flare gun that looks more like a child's water gun. Spare me! Couldn't he have gotten his hands on a real one? I was hoping for something big happening tonight, but it was focussed mainly on Caoimhe/Damo/Saoirse, and the scenes with Emmet, Oakley, Miriam and the group - which now apparently consists only of Dan and Hannah, as there wasn't another soul in sight, were very poor. IMO

Seems the rest of the media are in on that too. The independent were hyping this episode this morning as well. Is there any journalist worth their salt willing to call out this rubbish for what it is. The storylines are crap, but the acting is worse. Yer one playing caoimhe is dreadful

They have put it on Reeling In The Years Before but only as a clap on the back.

2001 Billy Meehan, 1996 Ireland's first gay kiss almost, Simon and Eoin, 1989 first episode.

I must admit, these sort of moments are genuinely funny. I was watching it with my father and we both burst out laughing. Sometimes I wonder if the writers are actually trying to make a comedy.

We often laugh like hell here too. Funny thing is, a French girl who is fluent in English moved over here and I became friendly with her, and she told me one day how much she loved FC. French cinema being what it is, I thought she must be taking the pi** but she was genuine. She actually believed that it was an OTT comedy parody of soaps and their far fetched storylines, which she thought was really cool... I didn't set her straight, but I'm sure she's found out the truth since....:o FC is a national joke, not as the superfans say, a ''national gem', or a ''national treasure''.... I just watch it for the pure comedy of it! :D

Do you remember an american comedy called "Soap" which was exactly what you describe. Benson AKA Robert Guilliame was in it. I think he died recently.

Republic of Telly in its early days used to always rip the piss out of Fair City and a lot of RTÉ shows. Actually back then in the early seasons, Republic of Telly was a brilliant show. Was more focussed on gags on other television shows, rather than the sketches it went on to focus on in later seasons.

Second image of gun used by Dr Oak Tree

Gardai are appealing for any information the public may have on the whereabouts of this firearm.
Once found, it will be returned to its rightful owner, 7 year old Bin Fahey.

I used like Tommy up until about a month ago and I just figured out why he's gone so annoying it happened since he broke up with Debbie and he's getting no sex!

Meath GAA star is stretching it a bit for a lad who played on and off with the county for 2/3 years. In that case i could call myself a Laois star. Everything is dumbed down these days every gob****e who laced boots is a 'star' or worse of all 'legend'.

His father's name is Dudley Farrell, probably the most interesting thing about him, Brian also served a suspension without appealing..Dubs take note:D

One of my new years resolutions was to not watch this crap anymore, until my sister showed me thursdays episode with the fakest baby ever on telly, oh how i laughed.

Then i got watching tonights episode and Dr Oakley took out the flare gun, i nearly died laughing. Emmet asking where he got it made it even funner.

I think it was when Damien was talking to Orla on the street and the 2 extras walk by, a second later they are shown off over the far side of the street and about 5 seconds later they pass by them again.

I felt like Jim Careys character in The Truman Show.

    I missed that! Well spotted.

Before my time, I think, Joe. Sadly, no, I never heard of it, but the actor's name does ring a bell, probably more than likely because he passed away recently and I probably read it on Digital Spy, or one of those other sites. :)

Ah, don't worry, sure he's the auld Ram; I'm sure he'll find someone new soon - once all this Caoimhe/Damo thing is done and dusted! :D

Look what Dr. Oakley got from Santa!!

It looks so much like my little nephew's water gun, that I've christened it Squirtle - the name he gave to his toy (he called it after a Pokemon) I wonder how much damage Oakley and Squirtle will do? :D

I don't watch the tripe anymore but came across this in the papers. Not all, but some of these FC actors are so far up their own arses it's unread (as evidenced by their LLS appearance for their 25th anniversary a couple of years ago). And "Ireland's Jennifer Aniston" is one of the worst offenders

What normal person actually embeds a summary of their other half's CV in their engagement announcement?
