But what is the crib advertising exactly?
What is it enticing you to buy?

Why is it taking up valuable real estate in hospital wards :pac:

You're pretending that we live in a world of puppies and picnics, and that everything you define as secular is the truth. It isn't.

What do you mean by "everything you define as secular is the truth"?

I've literally no idea what point you are trying to get across. What truth?

The record of herinquest clearly states that when she asked for life saving medical treatment it was denied with the words "this is a Catholic country"

    She asked for a termination.
    The termination didn’t happen.
Was the report satisfied with the rest of her treatment from she was admitted until she died, or not?
Did the report just recommend that in future in cases like this terminations be carried out, or were there other recommendations ?
You are trying to pretend that Mrs Halapanavaars care in her final days in that hospital was first class, apart from the termination?
    Why?

What valuable real estate space? Nothing was moved to make space for the crib.
    What are you talking about.
Tell me how the crib is inconveniencing you, or anyone else.

There is a difference between unconveiniencing people and insulting people
Religion of any denomination has no place in a state funded institution.

It's a crib. Stop being such a miserable sod.

So the people offended at the lack of a crib are now turning to the argument of 'it's just a crib'

    Interesting.

So it boils down to hurt feelings then.
So anything at all that could possibly hurt anyone at all’s feelings should be removed from public display?

    Interesting.

No I’m not. I’m asking for an instance of how the crib has inconvenienced anyone else. I’m being told that it should be removed because there’s a chance it might hurt someone’s feelings.
So obviously anything that might possibly hurt anyone else’s feelings should be removed from public view.
I don’t even know where to start with that.
    It’s an incredible concept.

Ireland is a Catholic Country. The vast majority of people are Catholics.

ireland isn't a catholic country but a secular republic. the vast majority of people are not catholic, only a small minority of people are.
Putting a crib up is a tradition that goes back hundreds of years. Do you people just want to spoil everything that brings joy to people?

no, i want schools and hospitals to either be completely secular, or be willing to allow for symbols of all religions.
Do you want to live in a vacuous, empty, consumerist world where everyone is miserable?

no . however we don't need religion to stop such a world from happening, and religion won't prevent it from happening.

Any chance of you debating any time soon instead of the constant "nope", "No", "you're wrong" etc???

It could be a Diwali miracle!!!

Don't try to argue with these people. It's like arguing with a brick wall dressed in skinny jeans and hipster glasses.

what "mental illness" would this be?

i completely agree. however, those who want to bann their heritage are in a very very small minority. effectively it's a few extremists who very few listen to or take notice of anyway.
however, there is a massive difference between wanting to bann heritage, and wanting to either make state services completely secular or fully inclusive to all religions. wanting to either make state services secular or inclusive to all religions is an opinion shared by quite a lot of people, banning our heritage altogether is an opinion shared by as i said, a few headcases who nobody takes any notice of.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

the census isn't reliable on the subject of religion as people feel obliged to put down that they are catholic for some strange reason.
i can state with certainty, regardless of what the census says, that the vast majority of people in this country are not catholic. they do not follow or believe in the teachings of catholicism.

how does believeing that state services should either be secular and have no religious symbols, or should be fully inclusive to religion meaning all religious symbols are allowed, mean that i hate myself, or make me a loser? what reason would i hate myself exactly?

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

Why do you want to be a multicultural wasteland where no-one belongs. Why not recognise that Ireand has a Christian heritage. It's very simple.

Never said it should go kid

Just the state shouldn't be wasting money and space in it....if patients put it up outta there own time and money work away like....but I wouldn't be going outta the way to make room for it

Oh so your objection is that it's an economic burden? How much do you think it really costs to put up a crib? I don't think the government have to make provision for it in the budget.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,768 ✭✭✭✭tomwaterford

Tbh I'm. A self confessed xmas hater...gladly ban it :D

But why waste state money on it is all....Church is richest organisation in the state....why are taxpayers subsidising cribs, decorations etc about the place

Why can't we be a multicultural paradise where everyone belongs?

The crib already exists, so costs no money .and the space it occupies is already free, unless they plan to put some beds into the entrance lobby.
    Sorted, next.

It fairness the pagan random sh*te was justed replaced with christian random sh*te. Both random sh*te though.

Do you repsect all religions ? Even ones that you think are just some "other random sh*te". How did you decide your random sh*te was better than all the other random sh*te ?

If you want to celebrate Vulcan having a ****, by all means go ahead and knock yourself out......or pray to him and knock one out. Whatever you want.

The Bible itself is fairly coherent. It's not exactly random. At least the New Testament on which Christianity is based. And the basic principles underlying what it says is not too far from what you'd try to instill into a child growing up anyway. Which is not unexpected. As it was written down by people who would have probably considered themselves moral thinkers and/or teachers

But a lot of people are fairly stupid. So for them, they see something or some story that they think as impossible or not true. So they think they are being smarter than everyone else and try to be condescending and dismiss everything. When in reality they are gobshites. Most people realize that some things were stories or parables used as a teaching or explanation aid and often written centuries after the claimed event.

The worst are **** that tell you they are not "religious" but they are "spiritual".
