I think they've actually been getting better rather than getting more repetitive
I didn't think much of the "'phase one" movies apart from the first Avengers film (Thor movies were dull, Captain America was alright, didn't really like either of the first two Iron Man movies, Hulk was probably the best of them)

Iron Man 3, GotG 1&2, Winter Soilder, Civil War, Ant Man, Dr Strange, Spiderman and Thor 3 were all really good IMO

Age of Ultron was pretty sh!te

My Hue kit arrived today and it's so cool!

But I bought a bayonet bulb by accident for one light instead of a screw. Anyone know where I could buy an adapter in Dublin? You can get them on amazon for like 80 cent but would rather not pay shipping for an 80 cent item.

Fibreled seem to have the adapter for a screw bulb into a bayonet lamp, but not the other way around (which is what I need). :(

Just ordered on Amazon. Can't believe I bought the wrong bulb because I actually checked what the connection was!

Iron Man 1 was okay. The rest are awful. You are a bad person if you like them.

My Hue Kit also arrived today. I bought the adapters, but left them in my parents house. So I have a HUE kit but no lights to put them in :(.

On the plus side, new Sony Bravia and Alexa also arrived. So I can play with them.

Is the Hue kit worth it? What do you get in it?

Opinions on the Alexa (Echo?). Considering that or the Google Home...

I'll report back in a week.

It was bundled with the Sony. So the Sony should support it, but first I need to reset the sony to factory settings then trick it into believing it is in the UK, which might be hard... (suggestions on a post card please).

But the actual speaker itself is much better than I expected. I was having an ordinary level conversation with my dad while it played music 15 feet away, and when I mentioned Alexa in convo it listened for a command. All I've done so far is got it to play my spotify, tell jokes, tell the news etc. Once I have the TV and lights on things will be better.

I really dislike the idea of a device listening in on my conversations an taking actions on that basis?

I bought the stuff separately cause none of the starter kits had what I needed. You need a bridge at the least, after that just whatever configuration of bulbs and lamps you want. If the kits provide what you need then they’re probably better value.

Has anyone been to Dundrum during a weekday evening recently? I’ve to go tonight, wondering if I’ll get away with driving or if the crazy car park queues have started yet?

The fact this sentence has been typed out and posted makes me upset.

Mondays and Wednesdays are grand. Thursdays are awful, I'd say. You're screwed, awec.

Thursday night shopping in Dundrum within a month of Christmas....

So it looks like Alabama is going to elect Roy Moore.

At what point if you are somewhere like California do you start to think it's time to go our own way?

I mean I've friends on east and west coast who have reached a point where they would rather just jettison 1/3 of the country. They have absolutely nothing at all in common with these people and are actively disgusted with them and see absolutely no way to even meet them in the middle.

I think the Alabama election really is going to be a litmus test for America. Can republicans vote for a Democrat over someone with serious accusations hanging over them. His own party are even saying he will be expelled if elected to the Senate.

Hard to fathom what's going on over there. Educate your kids folks.

It's not even serious accusations....his own party have called for him to resign from the race and it was completely ignored.

It did cross my mind when I saw the opinion polls...the diversity of the United States is something that is generally celebrated but there does reach a point where their differences, cultures and values are so out of sync that people have to ask themselves if they really do want to remain part of the same nation. I would imagine that people in NY or Seattle or Chicago have far more in common with Canadians than they do with those from Alabama or Tennessee etc.

The whole Moore situation is somewhat dumbfounding though even for US politics. The guy has active accusations against him of sexual misconduct and a host of quotes from locals who have corroborated the claims including former law enforcement officers stating that Moore was banned from local shopping malls for inappropriate behaviour. If he gets in, it will just confirm that it doesn't matter what someone does up to and including sexual assault of minors...people will support you based purely on the fact that you're not from the other side.

America is starting to look like it's going towards a very bad place and it isn't purely the temporary situation I thought it was.
