Had to laugh at my missus when I was heading off last year for a Xmas party....

"Now behave yourself and no chatting up good looking women"

    Me "what about ugly ones?"

    Her (laughing) "behave"

Me..."look at me FFS. I'm a slightly overweight, middle aged man with a receding hairline...I'd say I'll be beating them off with a shìtty stick"

I dunno, I used to think this way until I found out from the internet there are a lot of singles in my area interested in me.

So you’re telling me that I haven’t hit the sweet spot that will see me the object of affection from women all around me then?

    Damn it.

What goes on tour stays on tour, why in the name of hell would you tell your missus and have her thinking it would be you next time? That's just insane.

Not saying I do. But I do know that every single time I've been away whether on a stag, rugby tour, festival etc. someone blabs. It might not make it out into being common knowledge or open discussion but more people always know than those who were on the trip.

And given the introduction of mediums such as WhatsApp, I'd wager other people usually know before the trip is even over.

I'll never forget being on a mates stag and a picture was taken in a bar at the start of the weekend. Nothing to write home about and all very innocent at that stage. As a result the picture made it up onto social media. One of the lads was ordering a round from a lounge girl in it. Again completely innocent. But the OH saw it, got the wrong end of the stick and he was in the dog house for some time afterwards.

Lesson of the day - say fuppin' nothing and no cameras allowed. Because even the most innocent of situations can get you in hot water and nobody wants to be that person next time.

Thank goodness my Stag was over 35 years ago. No internet. It made 'The Wolf of Wall Street' look tame in comparison.
Mainly Off duty Firemen, Rugby players, Bouncers and my cousins. Add alcohol, drugs and hookers. Also a club in the city centre owned by one of the cousins.
It's still talked about to this day. Not by the wives.

His OH is an idiot in that case.

If you can't trust your partner to be in the presence of/talking to members of their desired sex then your relationship is ****.

Strangely that was the same stag where my OH gave us club recommendations. In Amsterdam. And not music clubs. I can only imagine the reaction he'd have gotten to some of that stuff!!!! :D

Sooooo Conor McGregor anyone?....they should have waited a few more months to make that Notorious documentary...would have been worth watching now!

Ah lads. Just landed. I fell asleep on a flight with the plane still on the tarmac and my phone still on, woke up five hours later. The ****ing phone had connected to the airplane GSM network and racked up a 60 euro roaming bill downloading stuff in the background.

Anyone reckon I could kick up a fuss and get that cancelled?

As Peter said to Jesus... 'You're fcked mate'

Surely you had to pair it with the network?...can it actually connect without you telling it to... didn't think that was possible

Same as leaving your phone on roaming, by default roaming isn't enabled, but I've Vodafone red connect and I'd just been using it in China so roaming was enabled.. The difference is normal roaming doesn't sting you for €6.15 per MB. Fml

I'd say the fact you had roaming enabled has you screwed... but give them a ring, they might give you a break on the bill, worth a shout anyways

I'm gonna make a day of it.

Watch Iron Man, Avengers, Winter Soldier, Avengers 2, Civil War, Ragnarok and then go to the Cinema and watch this.

It's going to be absolute quality.

    Fan Service: The Movie

"ah man, we've done so many of these films now. How can we keep writing scripts about the same thing over and over?"

"Put every single one of them in the same movie, that was you only have to write 90 seconds of dialogue for each character"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Apparently they have plans for another 20 movies after the Infinity War ones. Ugh. Please let the superhero movie thing end already. It was somewhat entertaining early on but most of them are rehashed, unoriginal and pretty boring now. GOTG was excellent. GOTG 2 was SOOOOOO dull. Logan was superb but then for every 1 of those there are 3 or 4 incredibly mediocre efforts. Admittedly the last Thor was decent, but I only went to see that because of Taika Waititi. The other Thor movies were pretty crap.

I don't mind them at all. Plenty of excellent movies have come from this run from Marvel.

Civil War in particular is a terrific action movie.

If they are making another 20 I'm sure most will be entertaining, a few will be poor and a couple will be absolute hits. I can live with that just fine.

Never really understood the whole "Can we be done with superhero movies already?" mentality. Its a genre. No one ever says "I wish they'd stop making horror films". If you don't like the genre, don't go to see the movies. Especially if you don't like comic books and especially if you're expecting some sort of Oscar worthy art house movie. I don't go horrors or thrillers because I'm openly a chicken s**t :D.

Btw not directing this solely at you molloy :)

I just think it's funny that Molloy never had an issue with these movies until they made Captain America a hipster.

Is it a genre? Fantasy is a genre. Sci fi is a genre. Action is a genre. I wouldn't class superhero movies a genre though. Maybe a sub-genre?

I'm a popcorn movie fan myself but I've just found so many of these films to just be the same thing over and over.
Nobody is forcing you to watch them.

Fair point. And one I've made elsewhere only today about something else.... :o
