This is a terrible idea. I am looking at Sweden and how young men are sent over to apply for children's asylum despite being mostly mid-20s, then they have the rest of the family shipped over.
They are referred to as "anchor children" cause once they get hooked in they reel the rest of the clan over.

The NP are too PC for my liking.

They want to "reform" the asylum process and allow asylum seekers "one appeal".

If it was up to me I would shut down the whole asylum system.

Once someone said the word "asylum" in our ports or airports I would have them sent straight back to the their country of origin.

Sweden is fcuked, Denmark has put more security on travellers from Sweden because they are afraid of a terrorist attack coming from there. Something like 12 bombs went off over the last month.

Syrian refugees will move to cities. This happened in Canada for example
A University of Ottawa study that analyzed how recently arrived refugees move around Canada found the Atlantic region was the biggest loser.
According to the study, approximately 14,300 refugees left the region from 2000 to 2013, many to Ontario or Alberta.
"Compared to other immigrants, refugees struggle more with local labour market conditions, scarcity of jobs and longer spells of unemployment," the paper said. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/syrian-refugees-bump-n-s-population-to-record-high-but-will-they-stay-1.4369442

Who said that? As far as I'm aware " one appeal " would only be for special cases

I like The National Party, but quite frankly, I think Irish people as a whole have to take responsibility for what is actually happening. Get rid of this "dem E.U cùnts" attitude. The Hungarians and Polish are doing that and are way better for it.

But no. We still happily vote for Fianna Gael and Fianna Fail; the party which contributed to the financial ruin of the country.

If we're not going to take responsibility as a people, then so be it.

    It's what we deserve.

Still, major respect to Justin, even though I think the party is doomed for a plethora of reasons.

The EU is the most corrupt organisation. They listen to (& probably paid by) George Soros who is saying Europe should take in 1million migrants a year. Where are we going to put them. Nigel Farage called out MEP's about it

The NP should have a policy of taking in zero asylum seekers and "refugees" otherwise they won't get many votes.

Peter Sutherland is another of these guys saying let them all in. Hmmm. Good for minimum wage businesses eh Peter.

Oh and while you're at it, maybe you will come out of your safe space eyerie in Switzerland and give your home up for them.

We have got to look at WHY we are expected to do this, well we are guilt tripped all the time by those who will never be affected by it, seems to me.

We should have taken in the 600 or so that we were asked to take in, the Government have lost the run of themselves on this.

And let's not forget about that fool Zappone bring over those chancers from Calais.

There's 2 things that I always find bemusing though..

    - The notion that it'll somehow be different here in Ireland. Maybe because "everyone loves the Irish"?

    - The irony that many of the people who will say you're wrong would be among the first targets of such a regime

If you want to come here and have skills to offer to support yourself then great! But that also means adapting to and integrating with our way of life... not expecting special treatment or to bring the culture and ideologies you've left behind (or are allegedly fleeing) with you.

Do you vote for any of the mainstream parties here? Because they're certainly not averse to "bending the truth" when it suits. The "fiscal space" and "Keep the Recovery going" nonsense last time out for example decimated LAB and left FG in a minority Govt as FF's whipping boys

Oh and there's always this classic...

Eh, why were they exclaiming 'blood and soil' so? Turns of phrase like that go back to naziism. Was talking to a Polish work colleague the other day and he wasn't surprised by it as he said Neo Nazis are not uncommon in Polish society and people have become more supportive of them. The fact that plenty of their grandparents were in concentration camps is simply lost on many of them.

Who I vote for is none of your business. If you want to talk in general about politicians then set up a thread.

I find that Farage is a liar who has twisted the truth on many issues and in my opinion history will not be kind to him. If you want to deflect with what about x, you are not dealing with my issues with the muppet. My opinion of others has nothing to do with the idiot that is Farage.

But yet you are going off about how much of a liar he is etc but can't say whether he's actually lying about the claims he made in that particular video, and suggesting/inferring that the other poster is/is sympathetic to the Russians. To be fair, I think you're the one deflecting.

Myself I'm on record here as being very euro-sceptic. I think we all saw how undemocratic and one-sided the leadership is during the Financial Crisis with countries like Greece (and Ireland if you believe the claims involving the late Brian Lenhihan) being bullied and cornered into accepting "bailouts", and then countries like Hungary being attacked for not being on-board with the Migrant "strategy". Then there's the reactions to Brexit of course.

The EU and its supporters doesn't like opposition or questions (especially not from the ordinary citizens who are expected to just shut up, pay up, and put up)... then they wonder why we see the polarisation of domestic politics and the rise of far left/right parties in recent elections.

The EEC worked pretty well.. it's when the leaders got political notions and the gravy started to flow that things came off the rails.

We will both be dead when the history of this time is written. But I usually find that when a person is caught in dirty dealings their first reaction is to say over there look at Soros. Farage could say through public documents what Soros has done with his money. We he tell us the same of the Aaron Banks money and where that came from. Who would i admire George SOros who survived Nazi occupation of his country, and has made billions and decided to use that money to support peace or a know liar in the pocket of Putin. Ill go with Soros any day.

You see if you are right then the future will say you a very clever man if you are wrong your Grand children will know grandparent was a traitor to the ordinary people of Europe mine will just say I was dupped. Who would I rather be.

there is no such thing as virtue-signalling.

they are sent home after the danger has passed.
Who is sent home EOTR? Your completely wrong.
The Syrians who arrived in 2014 under the Resettlement Program have just this month become eligible for Irish citizenship.
You really need to read up a little bit on the whole situation.
Also, the Syrian refugees were only in DP for less than 6 months.

Spent the weekend in Brussels where the streets and metros were filled up with tooled up army men at every turn. On Saturday night the fearless Morroccan soccer fans decided to wreck their adopted country after qualifiying for the world cup (The news doesnt like to report this). What a thanks to a country that gave them a new life. Similar problems could arise in our future if we proceed with such a policy.

We cannot even house our own people. Bringing in extended families will result in ghettos and disenfranchised youths leading to trouble in the future. Such a policy is idiotic and braindead. You only have to look to the continent to see what a bad idea this is.

I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been closed already considering people might dare voice an opinion opposed to mass-immigration, this website is clearly far left-wing and no matter how insane of a proposal they will support it once it follows the liberal left wing pro-immigration, pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ+ Agenda being forced upon everyone because otherwise you are a big stinking racist Trump supporter.

This 'National Party' wont get any votes anyway. Its 'principles' are electoral cancer.
    National Party Principles
The National Party approaches our membership of the European Union from the principle of refusing to accept the threatened destruction of our Nation’s freedom, and will endeavour to restore those freedoms which have already, unjustly, been given away.

The National Party insists that no law should permit the provision of Abortion in Ireland.

The National Party demands a complete reform of our criminal justice system, placing the protection of society from criminality as its imperative value, up to and including restoration of the Death Penalty for particularly heinous crimes.

Anything which threatens EU membership is electoral poison. Nationalist parties across the EU repeatedly make the mistake of going against EU membership - apart from fringe fanatics, and UK voters, most people in the EU see the EU as very positive. That's not to say the EU is universally popular but people like the benefits of membership. Prosperity, free movement, and countless 'ease of use' factors.

As for abortion - its a Richard Barrett vehicle, so no surprise, but the Irish zeitgeist has moved on. A party demanding no abortion in any circumstances is way behind the curve.

As for the restoration of the death penalty - Jesus Christ. Have these people watched Making a Murderer? Irish people under the age of 50 have.

What is going to change is the Overton window. It's telling that 50 years ago, Enoch Powell was essentially driven from polite society for prophesying the dangers of mass immigration. The vast majority of British voters agreed with him, but he was outside the window so was cast out. While Powell was demonised, he actually understated the rate of change. Nobody, on either side of the discussion (when it was allowed to occur) ever expected ethnic Britons to become a minority within their own capital in less than 50 years. No-one ever ran a campaign on making that change. No one ever won an election on that electoral promise.

Similar changes have occurred in France, Germany, Sweden and several other European countries which have entertained fantasies about 'guest' workers and 'temporary' refugees. Fast forward 50 years and suddenly there is a different people sharing that space, stubbornly separate to the French, Germans and Swedes. The reality is that 50 years ago, the majority of residents in those nations could trace their descent from people living in the same nations (if not states) a hundred years previously. Go forward 50-100 years, and the majority of residents in those nations will not be able to trace their family back further than 120-150 years. This change is not going to occur without political, social and cultural change: The equivalent of Coronation Street a hundred years from now will not be centred on a place where alcohol is served. What will Bonfire Night, 1 world cup and 2 world wars, the blitz spirit or Waterloo mean to 'English' whose family shared none of those experiences in any sense? And what will replace that shared identity? Are people sure it will be better? I'm not.

People are slowly beginning to notice these changes - its not possible to cast out the likes of Powell today. What might have seemed alarmist and reactionary then is simply recognising the reality of demographic trends now (as early as the 90s, both Thatcher and Heath-who sacked Powell - accepted he saw further than they had). The Overton window is shifting.

Petty, throwback groups like the National Party are dead on arrival. But we will see established political parties shifting away from the left liberal 'open borders' extremism which has dominated policy for the past 50 years. The recent elections in Austria have demonstrated this, and even in Germany the likes of the CSU are shifting towards a more realistic appraisal of the benefits of mass migrations.

Ireland is decades behind that curve. The Poles are too. But the Polish are very clear that they don't want a domestic Islamic terrorist problem, and the best way to avoid that is to avoid a large domestic Islamic population. Irish people - if ever asked - would completely agree. No one ever looks at the UK or French urban areas which are increasingly non-UK and non-French and think this is something we want. And no matter how 'right on' they are, no party runs a campaign promising to hugely change the shared identity of a state in just a few decades.
