Deshaun Watson has torn his ACL in training, MRI to confirm.
What a sickener for him and the Texans.

Deshaun Watson has suffered a suspected torn ACL in practice today, which will finish his season.

Horrible, horrible shame. This season has been a disaster for injuries.

That is sickening for the texans

Running a read option play apparently.

Nothing good ever comes from running the read option.

Jesus at the rate QBs are going down we'll all get a chance to live the dream before the year is out.

    EDIT: almost all. Sorry, Colin.

Of all places kap might have a chance of going to it won't be Texas after the Huston owners comments and jerry Jones comments on the whole NFL kneeling issue

Such a shame for him. Injuries have really taken their toll this year.

Brings a good question how many guys sat behind a starter for multiple year to then go on and shine themselves. I wouldn't think the number is that high
From the Patriots thread, been mulling over this for a few days.

Has a backup ever been traded and gone on to be successful as a starter elsewhere (obviously thinking of the Garoppolo trade).

Brett Farve was the one big success I can think of.

After that, Jake Delhomme who was backup for 4 years in NO went on to have a few successful years in Carolina. Beldsoe to the Bills had some success around that time too (though he was never really a backup).

More recently, Matt Cassell had one winning season after he left the Pats, Matt Flynn was one that people had big hopes for but didn't do much.

Nothing that I can think of in the last 10 years, the trend seemed to be mostly trading away vets to make way for young guns that has worked (Indy trading Manning, Philly trading Bradford etc)

A few came from GB during the 90s/early 2000s, but that's obviously going back a long while - Aaron Brooks (Saints), Mark Brunell (Jaguars), Matt Hasselbeck (Seahawks) and Kurt Warner (Rams, though with an asterisk as he was only on the practice squad with the Packers).

Also Matt Schaub was pretty class for a few years in Houston.

Matt Hasselbeck had a good career after backing up Favre in Green Bay.

Alex Smith? Was the SF backup QB when traded to Kansas City, though obviously he had plenty of starting experience.

I'm actually pretty gutted about the Watson injury, and that's just as a neutral fan who wanted to see what he could achieve this year after an exciting month or so. Can't imagine what Texans fans feel like.

When OBJ went down for us we were already had a mounting injury list and poor record, so it wasn't like the floor being pulled from under you.

Even as a Titans fan after the whooping he gave us, sad to see him go down. Very exciting player.

As a Titans fan, you'd assume that removes them from contention in the AFC South

Not just Watson, but Watt as well. On the other hand assuming he is good to go next year they'll probably just be excited about the prospect of having him (and Hopkins) on one side of the ball and Watt (and Clowney) on the other, as well as having the roided up Brian Cushing back.

A few astute pickups and they could be a real dark horse, but losing Watt a few weeks ago, Duane Brown to a deadline trade, and now Watson for the year is going to kill their chances this season and they've quite a storm to weather between that and the Bud Adams 'inmates' comment fallout a few days back.

would imagine so. Straight heads up battle between the Jags and Titans now I imagine.

Zay Jones got his first NFL TD last night. Had a rough year, but had read from Bills fans that he was finally picking it up a little the past few games when on opposition no2 CBs.

He then gets tripped (deliberately I feel) on a route and suffers what appears to be a nasty injury. NFL this year man...

I saw most of the game, he looked pretty good - easily the most impressive WR on the team which isn't saying much in itself, but Kelvin Benjamin might help out there. He actually came back from that knock later in the game, though while I was half asleep by the second half I think he got a second knock that took him back out of it.

    Will this ever end?

    Its nonsense at this stage.

Just annoying now, play this week, will be suspended next week then appeal again and to cycle continues, will the NFL back down now or are they too far committed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,349 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

It looks like all they are achieving is kicking the can down the road towards him getting suspended later in the season, possibly into the playoffs. I wonder if the Cowboys were playing better and had a few game advantage in their division would they just decide to just take the suspension now.

Its nonsense no court in the US will convict Elliott of any crime as the supposed victim had no credibility when questioned and the case was thrown out and the judge said the victim wasted several peoples time and resources yet Roger could impose a six game suspension on him under CBA.

None of us were present when the alleged acts happened to state if they happened or not so why should Elliott not try and clear his name?? Lets not forget one more strike and he could kicked out of the game for life and it is based on a first strike from something that may not have ever happened.
