Remarkable how accurate the ECMWF has been on this storm. Below is the SLP/100-m wind analysis at 00Z today compared to the forecast from 5 days ago (2nd chart). The difference is only 1 hPa in central pressure and about 100 km north-south error. A slight increase in wind field too, but from 120 hours out that was a very good performance.

Huge gusts of wind (West Laois) as the tail end of the rain passes through, the rain is falling horizontally at the moment.

I need to make a decision on driving from Dublin to Tralee and Killarney.

    Better to leave it?

Is it an offical station? Maybe its a mumbles, needles type station or else sensor issues.

A bit breezy in Enniscorthy, nothing too extraordinary.

Heavy rain in kildare but wind has died right down, we got about 15 minutes of big gusts. Is that it or more to come ?

Eye of the storm is close to you. Looks like it will pass over Dublin too. Expect more wind from the west and north west when the eye passes.

Anyone know if it'll still be around in the morning?? Have a 7am flight from Dublin.

I don't mind a bumpy flight but I flew into Dublin during Darwin and the mini flavoured Absolut vodka bottles gift pack I bought as a pressie were called into action!!!!

Hi Schmittel....I have seen you ask this question twice now.

Really not sure anybody on here can (or should) give you the assurance that you are looking for!

If it were me, if at all possible, with potential of 100/110kmh gusts, I would be trying to avoid forests in the mountains at night!
