I was watching a review of the Disney Afternoon Collection.

Reminded me that I have a copy of Ducktales 2 for the PAL NES. They're fetching good money online and I didn't even buy it, was given it along with a NES and a bunch of games when someone was doing a house clear out. If I wasn't interested they were all going in the bin.

GAAAAAH! Why must you take AGES to decide if you should use their marking terms or not?

I've just set up the VR Mod for Doom 3.
Didn't think much of the original, probably played it for an hour before losing interest but man does the VR mod bring it to a whole new level!

Its awesome being able to hold the flashlight in your left hand and gun in the right and aim freely with both. Using your finger to point to the controls on screens and tap them.

Theres more options than any other VR game to tweak it to your liking,
use the Oculus touch thumbsticks to move and turn, or teleport with the vive controllers, or even turn with your body in real life like the VR Game Onward! It even has voice commands for menus, or selecting weapons or interacting with the characters.

You can choose between hands only, weapons only, or full body with arms.

Once the demons kick in at the start it gets scary as ****!
Kind of feels like a survival horror game or something when you have to aim yourself.

    Master of the Universe

Get back from Token with the missus, she mentions that she now wants an Adams Family pinball machine.

'YES! THE PINBALL DREAM IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN!'

/goes online, to see how much an Adams Family goes for.

    :(

    I've got a problem....

    No, not that...
    Not that either....

My Ikegami monitor is lovely, but the display seems to be shifting rapidly up and down a few lines, possibly along with the 60hz scan speed.
It's very distracting and spoils the lovely image.
Any suggestions what this might be down to?
    It's an RGB image.
The composite in seems to be utterly borked on this monitor too.

    Help is greatly appreciated!

    Edit:
Looks like it's only the GameCube, so it's probably the RGB cable, yes??
Anything I should know about GameCubes and RGB cables, I'm thinking I'm forgetting something important, and possibly expensive....

Latest gamhut episode was interesting. Apparently if you wiggle a Sonic 3D cart in a Megadrive it brings you to a level select menu.

This wasn't planned. It was the coder being cheeky. Apparently the coder made all CPU crash errors point towards the stage select screen. He did the same with toy story where system crashes threw up a stage warp.

He did this to get past the Sega QA testing of the game, if the game crashed it would look like the tester activated a secret and wouldn't think the game crashed :)

A pretty neat Stranger Things RPG game went up for free on the apple and google app stores yesterday. Haven't had a chance to try it out but it does look pretty cool.

But its a shame. Netflix where also pitched this period perfect game that was designed to function on a C64:

Road Redemption was released yesterday, for anyone with a Road Rash shaped hole in their life. Feedback's been pretty good so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,004 ✭✭✭Shapey Fiend

I played that in early access and it looks much the same now. Makes me just want to play Road Rash 1995. It's just missing that tuning that makes the handling and combat feel consistent like you're in a battle with someone. You catch up to the opponents and they catch up to you too quickly feels like there's a lot of rubber banding going on rather than actually trying to get level with someone. Then with the actual fighting you've always got this weapon does huge damage and has huge range that's hitting 3 guys at once.

They throw loads of gimmicks and leveling in to liven things up but the underlying gameplays really flat. I enjoyed the 3D Road Rash games more if I'm honest.

So my adventures in teaching myself to solder stuff properly continued over the past few days.

Whilst I still haven't gotten my 50/60hz switch working properly on the Mega Drive yet (it's stuck in 60hz mode) I did manage to modify the Sonic Mania statue.

Did you know that although there's points on the board for an LED and an actual working LED on the board that whichever Chinese manufacturer they got to make the statues didn't bother wiring it up?

    Behold:

    22221484_10214748888778623_8505378565513033899_n.jpg?oh=fec7717c90e8fcb55d990019fffd389b&oe=5A47CC09

You can see it in action here:

Definitely recommend doing it if you have any spare wire lying around. It adds something that I felt was missing to the statue.
