Who or what is this, does it cost money, is it easy to set up?

It's cheap, you just setup a tunnel and then don't tell anyone about it. Shhhhhh

    And free?

I pay 6 a month for mine, re-sign every 6 months and have been using it around 3-4 years now. The only problem is that the sites where I get the download links are now being blocked by virgin so I have to use either unblockers or VPNs to access them which is a needless frustration.

    PM please !

Essentially paying double then? I'm fine with one or the other.

I try to avoid using torrents regardless. I don't pay double as I can get the links in work and email them to myself. I don't want to illegally download in work in case it blows back on my company. At the same time it saves me having to use a VPN to find the links.

The other way around this particular case is using a seed box and plex.

It takes some learning but it's solid. The downloading happens on the server, which you can get anywhere, and all you're doing is streaming your content which is, of course, all legally acquired from GOOD torrenteers.

There are good tutorials on how to do this. Might be a little more involved than most people would want to bother with.

I see Bear is gone. Was Heaslip still involved with it?

Is it? Wow was just there the other night!

George Hook gets an extended holiday and moved to a weekend slot. Newstalk appease their sponsors, SJWs will have a cry. A fairly sensible outcome all round then.

It's changed into Crackbird. Our office is literally next door.

Feel sorry for him for the whole thing and this is probably a decent result for him. But completely aside from this whole mess, I'm baffeld as to how Newstalk didn't take the opportunity to make a clean break unless there was legal action looking. Hook is an out of touch elderly man who has no place broadcasting in modern times.

I'd imagine it was either contractual or legal obligations that kept him his job.

A nice break until December, I wonder if that's paid! :D

Never really liked Bear, going by the menu I won't like Crackbird either.

Yeah, wasn't a fan after the first visit and gave it another chance. It was even worse the next time.

Bear was grand for what it was. The tenner deal at lunch did the job generally, although the last 2 times I was there it wasn't great now that I think of it.

He still appeals to a sizable market, the new slot allows them to cash in on this without pissing off primetime sponsors. He'll probably pick up new listeners because of this.

Bought a home cinema set there during the week and wired it all up today, it is AMAZING.

The bass makes the room vibrate. :D

I live in an apartment which makes the entire concept unworkable alas (the Swiss aren't big fans of noise either). I do like the idea though.

From what I've heard about home cinema it's meant to be all about the bass.

Dunno if I'm missing a joke here but yea, the bass is sweet.

Got a Yamaha RVX481 receiver and Denon SYS2020 speakers in case anyone cares.

3 hours to put it all together, but due to some questionable measuring on my behalf I had to actually disassemble a piece of furniture and re-assemble it around the receiver cause it wouldn't fit like I thought it would. :o

I imagine your downstairs neighbours love you.

To be fair, in my last place here the apartment upstairs used to have some kind of reggae party every sunday but it would end on the dot at 10pm so it was fine. Clear as a bell in my apartment though.

The apartments where I live are surprisingly well insulated. I never hear any noise from anyone above me at all, be surprised if anyone can hear it below.

I checked it as well by putting it on and going out into the hall where the lifts are and seeing if I could still hear it, nope.

On The Right Hook that was his schtick, that he was an out of touch elderly man looking at modern life, the no holds barred Hook as his show's bye line used to be.

He was a good broadcaster though in that he could chat to people and make a joke etc. Ciara Kelly is very professional and very smart but she struggles to make easy listening. Give her a serious topic and she's ace but give her a lighter one and it doesn't seem to suit her, so far anyway, and can be tough/bland listening.

He was far from perfect but he will be very hard to replace. For example I do remember in his last year of his 4 to 7 show I was driving home from Cork a couple of days after Christmas and his show that day was just perfect. It had a great holiday feel, was nostalgic, and there was a real warmth to it and from him for his listeners for how they were during what can be a difficult time of year. I don't know of any other radio host who could have done that show to the same degree.

I agree with most of that CFH, the exception being what you said about Ciara Kelly.
She is a brilliant example of what modern medicine should not be. Abhorrently abnoxious perspective that if science can't prove something then it's bunkham.
    (Also: "I'm a doctor AND a z-list celebrity...LISTEN TO MEEEEE!"

    YEUGH.)

Did you end up doing anything with Clay farm? There were only 5 left Sunday afternoon which was mad considering the price of them. They weren't bad but the 4 beds felt claustrophobic downstairs. Loved the lofts in them though.

Nah we didn't even bother going to look, we didn't like the look of the place at all.

Houses are packed in and overpriced IMO.

I like her. I agree with her most of the time. And I take her 'science' over others 'beliefs' each and every day of the week.

I quite appreciated her scathing attack on Mattie McGrath last week and this, frankly, horse**** and dangerous scaremongering about vaccines. It needs to stop.
