Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Tonight Show with Matt Cooper & Ivan Yates.
Matt Cooper and Ivan Yates offer their unique take on the big stories of the day with a panel of guests. There is also a panel discussion covering the key issues in the news.

So these are the lads who have been called upon to fill Vincent Browne's shoes.

Vinny presented a great show for a number of years, yeah, it did get a bit stale towards the end but many of us enjoyed plenty of discussion and debate along the way.

Over seven years of the Tonight With Vincent Browne Show, there were four Tonight With Vincent Browne Threads and almost 40,000 posts!

    VB Thread 13/01/10 - 18/08/11

    VB Thread 18/08/11 - 07/04/13

    VB Thread 07/04/13 - 08/07/14

    VB Thread 08/07/14 - 31/08/17

I wonder will Matt & Ivan achieve a quarter of that engagement? I feel it's probably very unlikely but I wish them well.

Did anyone not think it's a bit weird giving two guys who have a daily 2.5 and 3 hour current affairs radio show a TV version of it later that day

I made the same point on the old Vinny B thread, we are in serious danger of getting overexposed to these guys and their opinions. Familiarity breeds contempt and all that.....

The more I think about it the more bizarre it is.

I suppose they're a safe pair of hands

Is Ivan back on the airwaves?

Ivan does the afternoon slot on Newstalk from 4-7pm

Unfortunately, I think Vinny B is irreplaceable. Not a fan of either of the replacements either .

I would have liked it if Pat Kenny was presenting the show with Matt Cooper, as it would then have been Tonight with Pat and Matt.

#PatandMatt is a Hashtag deserving a TV Show.

There is a serious feel of Fr. Ted from that Hashtag :D

What chance have young graduates or talent got in this closed shop of RTE, TV3, Kneestalk, etc. Same old dinosaurs since time began. Pathetic.

When I look at Matt Cooper I can see the Fairy Liquid Baby, I think it's Matt's hair and baby face.

Ivan & Matt remind me of these two already :D

Nine minutes in and we have a commercial break, I hate TV3.

That wouldn't work, it would clash with Primetime & The Late Debate.

Think they're going for Kevin Magiure / Andrew Pierce on Sky News dynamic. Probably needs an intermediary as on sky as i can see them getting bogged down in the same circles of arguments week in week out when its just the 2 of them. At least so far, it isn't more of the same i suppose

I wish it was on at 10pm instead.

Just thinking the same, how did I ever stay up watching this every night until Midnight? And then Flathan and the buckos doing the dodgy phone in shows from Hungary.

Is TV3 part of the Denis O'Brien portfolio?

Having two of his radio mouth pieces as hosts seems strange.

Although I do like both something seems off.

It reminds me of RTE's mercifully short-lived Later with Finlay and Dunlop, back in the late '90s.

He knows a bit, there's more to him than his Stand Up persona.

He is a smart lad, I've heard him a few times on Brendan O'Connor's 'Cutting Edge' and he was a great panellist.

    FF are loving this crisis.

They will walk out and call an election when it suits them.

I noted the same thing on BOC's The Edge on RTE. The panel was always more than fifty per cent DOB employees.

I have NO time for Regina Doherty. I hope the blogger, Catherine Kelly proceeds with legal action, what happened to her was wrong.
A New York-based blogger who was stopped and cautioned by gardaí at Dublin Airport about social media posts she made about Minister for Employment Regina Doherty is considering legal action against gardaí.

Regina claims pensioners took the brunt of the recession.

Not true - they have been bomb proof while everyone else had their income slashed.
