Sounds like a crap decision :)

Bears looking like they're going to cut Mark Sanchez. I'm pretty surprised by this to be honest if it does happen. I assumed the reason he's there is as a mentor to trubisky, like he did last year in Dallas.

Well Trubisky looks good enough so they probably don't think he's needed.

If they're holding on to Mike Glennon it's not a terrible decision. Regardless of how good Trubisky has looked or not, they need someone in behind him with some experience in case things go wrong or he gets injured - Glennon and Sanchez are both mediocre, but both have shown they are NFL calibre backups and both have experience.

There's a lot more trades during preseason this year.

If anyone cares the 49ers cut Matt Barkley and Tim Hightower, both would have been expected to make the team but rookies have been preferred in both instances.

I would have thought they'd have carried 3 QB's but they seem happy enough with CJ Beathard as primary backup I guess.

    TJ Ward released.

Jacoby Brissett and Philip Dorsett swap places in a trade.

Would brissett be a better backup than tolzien, presumably he won't beat him out to start next week though (assuming luck isn't fit)

Well Glennon was always going to be held onto, and will in fact be starting ahead of him but the general consensus among bears fans seemed to be that Glennon would not fulfill a mentorship role. In fact the stories coming out of the team generally confirm that from the moment trubisky was drafted Glennon has felt threatened and anxious about his position as starter. He is right to feel that way, but he is definitely not the guy to help trubisky along.

And he certainly isn't going to be happy to help out as trubiskys backup, if that's what he ends up being. Team are insisting he's the starter for now though. If his preseason form is any indication, you can expect that to change after a couple of weeks. I hope Sanchez picks up somewhere, I quite like him actually, he's shipped a lot of ridicule over one stupid play (I've participated in the ridicule), but he's a solid back up.

Ward has had ongoing hammy issues and was a liability in coverage. The Broncos have very good young safeties behind him and they kept him off the field in pre-season.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in with the Rams playing for Phillips.

apparently the Broncos are planning to name Lynch on the 53 roster - then put him on IR (he is out for 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury) and are looking to bring Osweiler back on the vet minimum to back-up Siemian.

To be fair, that would add up to a complete masterstroke if they pulled it off.

The thing is he only just has to play solid and he gets the back up job. Tolzien has been atrocious for us this pre season, he did not throw for one single TD in the 4 games. That bad

It's like someone jumping in the way of a bullet you tried to fire at yourself and then you picking up the same bullet and throwing it at yourself.

They're not paying the ridiculous money they did their best to pay him but he is still a very poor QB (no matter the hilarious hype the Browns tried to build for him in the hopes of someone trading).

    Definitely not a masterstroke

Ego move from Elway. Nothing more than that.

Osweiler walks away from the Browns with a cheque for $16million and then signs with the Broncos (for guess how much?)

The Broncos had a problem to solve - a starting QB who played hurt most of last season - a back-up who is out injured for 4-6 weeks - and a run-of-the-mill rookie. They needed a cheap back-up and Osweiler played for Mike McCoy when he was in Denver. 2+2 = 5 (or in this case a $36million paid one year vacation).

This is the best laugh I have had in ages

draft sh1te QBs that cant play, so you can sign your former sh1te QB cheaper. Masterstroke

Jacoby Brissett and Philip Dorsett swap places in a trade.

Teams should just hang up the phone when the Patriots call interested in one of their players.

Very rarely do they come out on the wrong side of trades.

49ers going with youth as much as possible as part of their rebuild. They keep 14 rookies (26% of the roster), with 5 being UDFA.

Big clear out of Baalke's roster (along with a number of the FA that were signed over the summer by Lynch).

Being second on the waiver wire it's pretty likely that there'll be further movement.

There is a tendency for Elways mistakes, coincidences, and blind luck, to be reinterpreted occasionally on this site as the premeditated acts of a genius...

Highly doubtful but if he is fit before week 7 not being on the PUP will allow him to play

Not many notable names cut by the Ravens, I'll just add a note on Keenan Reynolds.

Holds the NCAA Divison 1 record with 88 touchdowns. A quarterback for Navy he was a football legend there and his number has been retired, same as that other Navy QB Roger Staubach. Had to get permission from Secretary of the Navy to play in the NFL who allowed it as it's good PR

Drafted in the 6th round in 2016 by Baltimore he moved from QB to WR and got cut spending the year on the practice squad

Tried to make the team this year but cut again. In preason week 4 had two returns for 10 yds and had the cardinal sin of fumbling a return too which led to a Saints score. Players have been cut for less!

The guy who beat him Michael Campanaro is talented but made of glass. If Reynolds doesn't get picked up around the league he'll likely be back when/if Campanero gets hurt yet again

This is likely not the right thread to post this but I didn't want to start a new thread and this was the only general NFL thread i could see. I've been a sporadic watcher for a few years now but am hoping to watch on a more regular basis this season and will likely sign up for Game Pass. Just wanted to know if anyone knows of a good preview show for the season ahead? If there's one on YouTube, Game Pass or even Sky. Just something to give me a rough idea of who/what to look out for and whats expected of certain teams. Thanks.

Looks like TJ Ward is being picked up by the Bucs.

It would certainly bring some steel to the secondary, which has been a glaring weak point for the past few years.

Offensively if Winston can take care of the football even 10% better the Bucs are capable of winning 10+ games.

Would be nice to see playoff football back in Tampa.
