They had the ex manager and Fiona Steed on there Tuesday or Wednesday discussing it

Was that the previous week? Or if it was this week did they discuss the actual final or just the poor showing by the Irish team. Obviously the wouldn't pass up a juicy story. But take out the Irish interests in the tournament, would they cover or did they cover the final as a stand alone game?

They just covered the Irish team in that segment. No discussion relating to the final.

They brought on the coach who was in before Tom Tierney and allowed him to unleash on Tierney and repeatedly justified it by saying "if you are listening Tom we'd love to give you the right to reply". It was grossly unfair to entertain this guy who did himself no justice whatsoever with his petty comments. He clearly has a chip on his shoulder about the IRFU and was using this as a platform to aim missiles at the current management.

Fiona Steed fairly stuck the knife in as well though.
Does she have any reason to have a chip on her shoulder with the IRFU?

They are all going mad. I don't want to make this a battle of the sexes but the men's team had a similarly disappointing campaign in 2007 and everybody kept their dignity. Clearly things weren't right in the camp back then but to the best of my memory the criticising was left to the media. This lot are embarrassing themselves before Tierney has even had a chance to breath.

Is it an OB tonight or something? Can't really hear it, sounded like some whooping and shouting a few mins ago.

They were at the Electric Picnic.. Why they bothered having an OB for that stupid quiz is beyond me.

Can't believe they're making poor old Oisín Langan work today!

Although I'd say he'll have some pretty emotional words if Waterford win. Or lose, actually.

I listened to some if it. It was pretty much all hurling until I turned it off to watch the hurling.

I thoroughly enjoyed the hurling build-up/analysis with Tommy Walsh & Daithi Regan. Far better IMO than what RTE were offering both on radio and TV. I listened right up until the match was about to start and then switched to the TV. I did the same for half-time.

How long have they had Tommy Walsh on OTB?

I've only really heard him over the past couple of months, he's fantastic on the radio.

Was expecting more than wisecracks from kilbane tonight.

Very quiet here lately lads - no complaining, even from me! OTB must be doing a half decent job?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,869 ✭✭✭PeterTheNinth

Interesting interview with Jacky Tyrell tonight. Thought they could have given it more time if anything.

Must listen back. The bits from his book they read on the paper review at the weekend made it seem like the line between wanting to win and being borderline psychotic is a very thin one.

There has been no social injustice angle that could be linked with sport for a while.
So it must break thier hearts that only have straightforward sport and matches to discuss.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I suppose the idea is to leave you wanting more so you might grab the book

No description of the content of the paper review on iTunes. Is there a lot of camoige talk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 908 ✭✭✭Jayesdiem

Yes. With Joe away today it looks like they are trolling us by having even more battle of the sexes talk. Start 15 mins in.

mainly because Joe and Ger were off until Friday. nothing to complain about.

Dave did a great interview with Donal McAnallen during the week. straight forward questions on a very emotional subject.

John Giles remains as lucid as ever.

    Brilliant analysis.

It was so ridiculous I had to turn it off. Being so pc you can't say 'joe bloggs Cork' cause it's a women's team. I've never heard such sh1te in my life and I'm a woman! Turned it off cause it was putting me in bad form.

I didn't hear it all myself but that sounds like pc8 - pc10 on the level of political correctness :D

It was pretty fcking idiotic - almost comical. The problem is they are bringing on guests who share these views. Is it on the application form?

On a side note Kieran Shannon has been added to my paper review no-listen list. He must have a spy in every GAA team in the country because he tries to sound like a fly on the wall of every team meeting of any consequence. There is a bit of the Graham Hunter about him for sure.

you'd think they'd offer an occasional slot to amy o'connor or sinead o'carroll with a view to a bigger gig in the future. both have done the paper review, and are mad into their sport, so could give it a good bash.
i'd safely say sinead o'carroll would run rings around joe in a hurling slot.
