    Fixed that for you

ESPN's Collin Cowherd highlighted an article from the New York times about Conor McGregor's safety on Saturday night.

I think this could be a huge factor in this fight. The NSAC are under serious pressure after, not just authorizing a fight between a novice against the best boxer in the world but also going outside to the rules and approving 8oz gloves.

If anything happens to McGregor in terms of head injury, The commission will be facing legal action the likes of which they have never seen. This could potentially lead to the commission giving strict instructions to Referee Robert Byrd to stop the fight at the first sign of McGregor taking too much punishment. They can't risk the possibility that he may sustain serious injury and may stop the fight prematurely to, not just protect McGregor, But more importantly protect themselves.

My last post on this gambling nonsense. I never refused your €500 bet, you started looking for bank guarantees/escrow etc. 20c or €1 aren't worth my while. Thank you and goodbye.

Well I aint dumb so I wasnt handing you 500 euro without first having proof that you had the funds to back your mouth up. Neither was Outlaw Pete and other posters who wanted those odds you were offering. Now we all know you cant back your mouth up with actions. Your bravado has now been shown up for what it is, just another keyboard warrior. Your pants have been truly pulled down now so I guess its time for you to go back to hiding behind your mothers skirt :p

    Ordered the PPV today.

Will set an alarm for about 03:45, watch the main fight spoiler free, then catch a replay later for the rest of the card.

Again with the lies. I never once asked for you to "hand over 500 euros" before the fight. I offered the bet, you refused it by adding stipulations to it. End of story. You wimped out. I won't be responding again.

So wait when Dan Hardy, Chael Sonnen (to name but 2) say the same as me:

"Floyd is a boxer, not a fighter".

    Are they "embarrassing themselves" also?

You're ok with the guy saying "Conor is not a prizefighter" when he *literally* fights for prizes?

Floyd Mayweather is a phenomenal, world class, top 20 of all-time BOXER. If we define a "fight" as "two people punching each other standing" then he'd be a fighter but that's not what a fight is.

The Oxford Dictionary defines a fight as: "a violent confrontation or struggle."

They define "boxing" as: "the sport or practice of fighting with the fists, especially with padded gloves in a roped square ring according to prescribed rules (the Queensberry Rules)."

If you can't see the difference you're sadly deluded.

Floyd Mayweather is a breathtakingly skilled boxer but he can't fight. Simple as that.

    Wow

Both fighters stand to make a significant amount of money from the fight? Unique angle. What's the point that's meant to exist? Is there some kind of implication?

Going over to Liverpool Saturday, plan is to stay up to watch the boxing match, go back to the rented apartment, catch some Zzzz then head to Anfield to watch the match, have booked Monday/Tuesday off work.

    If Carlsberg did weekends*...

Have €25 on McGregor to win at 3/1. Would be v. surprised if he won though.

    * McGregor will win and Arsenal will lose :D

Why put the bet on if you'll be surprised if he won? Isn't that the definition of throwing money away?

    V. Surprised =/= impossible.

People who play the lotto are Very surprised when they win. But, it simply means a little more 'skin in the game'.

Meh, haven't watched F1 since Jordan left :pac: Did get invited over to a Jordan training session in Silverstone once and got a tour of Jordan's facilities (at the track and their facilities), and Ruben's was dragged in to give us a talk. But, Rossi who? ;)

    Mcgregor to win 3/1.

    Hardly comparable are they?

No, but the principle is the same, and that the odds of 3/1 are a lot more likely makes the bet even more plausible... I'd still be amazed if he won.

They are but so many people have wasted their money backing a mcgregor win that his odds have been slashed down to 3/1.

Mayweather is currently at 1/4 in places. Hope Mcgregor wins the first round then lump on floyd. Easy money

It's a novelty bet, a friend said he was putting on €25 at 3/1 and asked if I wanted to do the same, and I said fine.

With that said, I'd not be betting the house on Mayweather either, not when a lucky punch could KO Mayweather.

Floyd by stoppage back to 8/11 at best pretty much everywhere. Hope you got on the 5/6 when it was there.

Yeah i got greedy and held out for better and paying for it now.

That said I am really happy to have gotten €500 at 11/4 on the TKO. I still see that as the most likely single outcome

I'll hold out until Saturday to see if looney money comes back on McGregor and maybe we'll get great odds last minute a la Pacquiao. Although that's unlikely as Floyd seems to be shortening in all markets at the moment.

I find the support for mcgregor quite odd if I'm honest.

I think people are believing his hype and he's good at that alright.

Don't get me wrong I like the guy. He's entertaining and been brilliant in the ufc.

..... BUT this ain't the UFC. Sure he is a striker there for the most part but it ain't the same as boxing and he's never fought in a professional boxing match no matter how much training he's done for it, it's still not his sport.

Floyd on the other hand as much of a prick that he comes across has 49 wins, 26 of which were knockouts!
He's beaten the best there was in his division consistently over a long period of time. He's a true boxer. It's all he knows.

Don't get me wrong part of me would love to see mcgregor do it but I can't see this fight going any other way than a mayweather win and more than likely a knockout (which is what I'll be betting on) after mc Gregor tires himself out, around the 4th or 5th round max. Probably earlier.

All of that said it'll be some spectacle though.

    We know

Good call. I think he will last about 4 while swinging at shadows and getting constantly tagged by Mayweather just like many world class boxers before him did
