I think Doran from Achill would have started a few games last year as well. I think he was named to start the final but was injured, or sick or something - don't think he played in the final in the end. He was very handy at minor level, looked good enough in the semi Final against Dublin in Tullamore too if I recall.
Eddie Doran suffered an appendicitis on the eve of the final and had to have surgery.
Like a lot of the 2013 minors he was savaged by groin problems for over a year afterwards which halted his progress.

That 2013 team was blighted by injuries.
Tommy Conroy (the Kiltane one) was one I really thought was going to feature by now, he's another that's had some horrific time with injury and other stuff.

13 of that team have had groin/hip injuries and operations. Some say it was down to the strength programs they put themselves on (or what ever) to bulk up.

Be interesting to see there "where are they now" details.

This booing criticism is going really over the top. Andy is a big boy and I'm sure hes well used to it. The mayo supporters were every bit as bad on Sunday. Get over it. I hate to see the reaction of some here if they were at a football match in England

    I agree

Mayo fans were as bad in what respect?

It doesn't seem to bother Andy, sad shower who want to boo him, you'd swear he stole their sheep! :)

Go to prem games all the time, so not sure what correlation your trying to make here? Certainly wouldn't compare GAA fans to soccer fans, though there are plenty who think its okay to abuse both. If they met them on the street they'd be a lot quiter.

We know that for sure, just a Galway troll on a Mayo thread and when your not even on Mayo threads your still whining like a girl about Mayo :D:D

Roscommon released the statement about the booing of Moran, they asked fans not to, Mayo didn't release a statement.

Apologies for any insult, perceived or otherwise.

Take a look in the Roscommon thread to see what I was referring to by the way.

Anyway - let it go, stop giving it airtime, and it will go away. Roscommon GAA have issued their statement on it and fair play to them for doing so. Let that be the end of it.

The whole boo-gate thing is really an embarrassment. Far worse happens on GAA pitches and sidelines up and down the country on a weekly basis.

What needs to be spoken about is why Mayo looked so lethargic and void of any pattern of play, why are backs being played as forwards and how the subs are been decided. Subs one week not even on the match day panel the next.

The Rossies were on their toes but still let a 7 point lead slip and had to nail a long range dubious free to get a draw. The drama and occasion has masked what was a poor performance from both teams during periods of the game.

The idea of paying €30 for a stand alone fixture and having to travel to dublin to see two connaught teams face off is a farce also.

Don't think it's fair to call someone a troll just because you don't agree with what they are saying.

From where I was sitting, the booing was very audible when Mayo put the ball wide, or when Andy Moran came off. I have rarely heard that level of booing from Mayo fans.

whats the story with Donal Vaughan? How come he isnt starting anymore? Is it just tactics or is he more use as an impact sub?

Was fairly audible on the TV

And surprisingly, the Roscommon booing for Andy wasn't audible on TV.

    Swings and roundabouts.

Good question. He did very well when he came on, his distribution wasn't bad...for a big man.

He's a great athlete but perhaps lacking a bit in game intelligence, whether this impacts tactically on his starts under Rochford I don't know.

If we manage to get past Roscommon I would hope he would start in fb against Kerry as he'd be able to cope better physically with Donaghy.

He is fairly rock solid but probably lost his starting place on the half back line to Durcan, would be competing with Seamus and Parsons for a place in Midfield, so probably just unfortunate in terms of the pecking order.

I've always been a big fan of his, he was causing Dublin a lot of trouble in the replay last year hence their efforts to nullify his contribution.

He's got great stamina, covers a lot of ground. To my mind, he's being used as a bit of a utility player between midfield and Half back when he comes in, which is pretty much what he's built for. That said he appeared to be a bit further forward the last day.
