    Update on Tequila Jack's:
After 3 tweets and 24 hours I got a response of

"Hey, appreciate the feedback from your experience. Disappointed to hear you had a poor first impression. Hopefully we'll see you again."

    Pretty poor imo
No apology, no explanation and no incentive to return.
    Remedial customer service.

We had lunch in Tequila Jack's yesterday during the hurling, I went for their TJ Burger, it was fine, the side of fries and mayo were also fine, nothing to wrong with them but nothing great either.

My GF got a Burrito and Fries, she said the Burrito was delicious, nice area outside for a sunny pint too!

In my experience, its wasn't really a restaurant, more of a half pub have restaurant, felt like it wasn't sure what it was trying to be. One thing that stood out was the service alright, took about 12 mins from sitting down to get food menus, and another 15 mins after we finish before plates were taken away, it was not busy and there is so much staff in there.

It's owned by Soho and East Village, I'm not in the slightly bit surprised the food is just average.

Parlour Café or Tara's tea room maybe? Not Mexican though.

Tried the Parlour cafe on your recommendation, got the eggs Benedict and an Americano, eggs were perfect, sourdough beautiful and hollandaise wasn't overpowering as it is in some places, the only crib as it's not a complaint and some people would see it as a positive is the bacon wasn't bacon but tick cut home baked ham.
I prefer the saltyness and crispiness of bacon.
Also thought it was saucy at €11 with the Americano.
Must go back for the sausage and egg skillet.

What time of day was the brekkie in tequila jacks over, I don't think it was mentioned above?

I bloody love mexican food, and burrito bars don't count. Was it American style tex-mex, or the real deal? What did you get for lunch off the main menu? Are we talking bottle salsa here, or made there do you think?

Their website is blankety blank still, so I'm going to rely on you good boardsies for info!

Any recommendations for dinner in Baltimore?
Had dinner in The Mews in Baltimore in May - most enjoyable meal I've ever had in this country. Tasting menu + wine pairing for two came to about €200, for which I'd need the food to be exceptional, and it was.
Ate in Pidgin in Hackney recently, which has a Michelin star, and I reckon the Mews is better. Maybe Michelin don't ever get to West Cork.

It was after 1 on Sunday which was why I asked if they were still serving breakfast. Only breakfast menus on tables.

    I didn't eat there.

On a Sunday, I think places need to decide if they are doing brunch or lunch. Trying to do both doesn't work.

Michelin's points system is a mystery, but it probably is like hotel ratings where you get points for amenities like parking and cutlery along with the food.

Michelin stars are strictly awarded for the food. There are food stalls with Stars. Consistency* seems to be the key requirement for getting the first star. Technical ambition is the second and inventiveness for the third. Bare in mind there are relatively few inspectors, so it's also a resource issue.

*Naturally the food has to be good.

Agreed. I was in the Castle café about a fortnight ago on a Sunday and the people at the table next to me left because breakfast/brunch had finished at midday. And because they only have the one menu (as in the literal piece of paper) you could read all about the dishes you couldn't get while picking your lunch.

I had been hoping for some eggs so was a little disappointed especially because we sat down before 1pm.

The sun was splitting the stones there on Sunday and as we had a couple of drinks there anyway we stayed and ate in La Jolie Brise (Part of the Waterfront Hotel). Simple fare, pizzas, fish & chips etc. Just being down by the sea though made it lovely. Thanks for all the recommendations. We'll definitely be back.

The location, right on the waterfront, is excellent. Definitely adds to the experience.

"Horrific" might be overstating it a fraction guys? We are talking about brunch not being available after 1pm, and the establishment saying they were disappointed to hear you were not happy with it. Not quite a school bus crash.

What else was expected here? Because this might just be the best first world problem i've seen in this thread to date.

It's not the fact that brunch wasn't available after 1,as you well know.
Had I walked in and was told that brunch/breakfast wasn't being served, there would have been no problem.

You've completely misrepresented the situation so you could make your hackneyed first world problem and school bus crash gags.

32 Marlboro Street was being run by the same guy running Annies in Sunday's Well which is up for lease again. Judging by what I've seen of this guy in operation I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be closed for internal works, at least under his management.

Speaking of closed for internal works, it appears Luigi Malones are nearly there for their much needed internal overhaul.

    Are they overhauling the food?

Ah Yes, I'm sorry. The server didn't realise the time, gave you the wrong menu and, to top it all off... had the brass neck to take your order. Then later, after not eating there and sending three angry twitter messages... (i know, three tweets) they responded and expressed disappointment.

"Horrific" is obviously exactly the right word. What is the fitting punishment? Death by paper cut with that bloody (mary?) brunch menu seems appropriate to me. :D

Too many hackneyed gags? I'm here all night, tip your waiter! (Or not, you know, cos they're sh1te!)

Anywho, I'm going to soldier on and try to get in there in the next few weeks for a go. Tequila beckons. Pray for me.

Ok, lets just leave it at that now, and move on. Thanks

Didn't know it was closing down.

    Is it all ready closed?

Always seem to have a decent crowd in it even mid-week

Didn't even know it was closing, hopefully somewhere that does decent lunches goes in there (totally biased, I work nearby).

Went to Miyazaki last week for lunch, can't find what I ordered on the online menu but it was amazing. I wouldn't be at all familiar with Japanese food but will definitely be going back, it was lovely and fresh, and we weren't waiting long despite what I'd seen online about "be prepared to wait!"

Also went to Spitjack last night, and really enjoyed it. We got a table without a reservation, waited maybe 10 minutes upstairs with a drink. I like the little waiting area, you're overlooking the kitchen and it's quite cleverly built retaining the original external windows of the building - the whole place is beautiful actually - but I wouldn't be too thrilled about it if I was working below. Cocktails were nice if a bit gimmicky, one came in a hip flask in a box and it was way too much stuff for the small table. Very hipstery! But in fairness the food was great, we got lamb and ham hock and potato sides, and a dessert each, and everything was good.

A table near us had issues with them being out of the fish I think, made a bit of a fuss over it. They were out of pork belly too but we were there around half eight on a Saturday, so can't do much about that. Portions were really decent, so either they've taken feedback on board or dinners are more generous than lunch! A bit pricey, but would go back alright.
