I can't see their breakfast menu online, just the odd pic of granola and eggs benedict, etc. I'm assuming by "dead fired" you mean deep-fried? What did you have?

No matter if you were wrong though, I'm shocked that the owner told you to leave and not come back!

Well the poster says deep fried later in the post so I'd say you're onto a winner there

I think it's "fired" everywhere! I did wonder, as it's a rotisserie place was this a method of cooking they referred to :p

I wasn't having a dig at all! I was just clarifying that I understood what you were saying.

I hope you understand it was no dig from me at all just that lately on boards everyone is having a go at my delexa and speaking mistakes. And is turning me off the site a lot

And also not a dig from me, but for a long post, would it be worth putting it through a spell check ? I'll be honest, it was a bit of a hard read. I only passed Spitjack in the car a half hour ago, and it looked nice with the open windows. Pity, this is yet another poor review. I hope he gets it together quick.

I reckon if I was running a restaurant and a customer kept insisting that food was deep fried when it wasn't, I would probably lose the rag too.

I don't believe that the owner would come to your table and lie to your face about it being deep fried. Who would deep fry bacon, anyway?

Now, I don't doubt that the breakfast was poor but I there are only so many ways he could tell you that it wasn't deep fried before losing his temper.

I also suspect that you are exaggerating when you say that the coffee was served in an espresso cup. Irish people tend to love huge mugs of scalding hot coffee. A standard coffee cup is quite small. I like a small, single shot americano but it's getting harder and harder to find.

If you over grill bacon it will be dark and hard

Fire up the picture there please, because it must have been fairly greasy to warrant the reactions from both parties here.

TBH I'd tend to agree with the beer revolu regarding the Manager losing his cool over repeatedly being told something contrary to what he's in charge of. If a manager stated to my face the food had been grilled, I'd tend to give him the benefit of the doubt instead of insisting that it's not the case - you could be 100% sure the food was fried, but unless you see it being cooked then the managers word on it should stand for something - it seems you dismissed this straight out, which is your prerogative, but don't be surprised when somebody reacts to that somewhat emotionally.

Honestly - where does the conversation go from there from his perspective? I'd imagine the final straw was being told his new venture wasn't up to standard and I normally go to the Liberty Grill.

The coffee sounds like something that would annoy me alright as I like a decent mug of coffee however the 'who you know' comment seems uncalled for imo

And before I'm told a chef knows more than me on this matter - I'm looking at this solely from a service/interaction POV because that's the most interesting part of all this

I agree with this. Your approach to the manager sounds very hostile and aggressive and I'm not surprised you got no satisfaction with the way you reacted.

The manager /owner was, essentially, repeatedly called a liar to his face. No wonder he lost the rag.

The customer is not always right. More often than not the customer is wrong and is a d*ckhead to boot.
I've been in an authority position in a customer service role myself and would always right a situation that was wrong, if we had made the mistake. But I would never bend over backwards and be nice to someone being that rude to me when the mistake wasn't ours in the first place.

And FYI, that bacon doesn't look deep fried to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,150 ✭✭✭✭Malari

That bacon looks about spot on how I would expect it. I was expecting to see something in a near-blackened state!

See this is the downfall of boards here people not been able to give there views on stuff anymore with out getting the head eating of them by someone who does not agree with there views and they the pack issue then happens and attack the poster in a group.

This is why the users using boards is dropping daily people are getting sick of it.

Now, come on! No-one is attacking you, I think the responses here are being pretty moderate. It just seems that your reaction to your food is disproportional to what you have shown us. We only have what you said about the interaction and you seem to have been a bit unreasonable.

Poor form to remove the photos, yet keep the review. You should be able to stand over both.

A bit of a spat... or more a spit, in this case.

I couldn't understand much of the review of Spitjack above, but the deep fired breakfast sounds tasty. Must give it a go.

What's an "exp cup" when it's at home by the way?

Ah jaysus would you give over. They clearly have some sort of disabilty.

I've been to Spitjack twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The food is pretty tasty but nothing spectacular. The price you pay is probably in proportion to the quality of the ingredients used to be fair, however some people will find the portion size on the smaller side of the scale. I got the porchetta the last time and while you get three slices they are all exceptionally thin. I mean, it's quite amazing how neatly they are sliced given how thin they are. Overall it's a nice presentation and the surroundings are nice.

Umi is still my favourite in the city, I really hope it lasts. Also, I must be one of the few people In Cork who has gone to Rachel's and enjoyed it

<SNIP> The poster already stated he is a bit dyslexic and you make that post.

    Sound.

Try to be civil guys, a poster has already stated that they have dyslexia so give a little slack where its due.

Yes, heard this while ago - it's on their facebook page. Very sudden, I thought they would have been doing well.

Another one bits the dust, The Meatball Place. I'll miss that one, great for a bit of cheap, tasty comfort food. That location is a graveyard for restaurants.
