Would love to but not my call and if someone gets injured or worse then we will all be crying when its too late.

I don't like to see money squandered at the best of times but when its still my money, yea sorry but I do reserve the right to have an opinion. I don't think that's being unreasonable.

    Mod Note:

Alright lads and lassies, this discussion has come to an end. The title of the thread is MILK PRICE!!

Any discussion of any other matters should be discussed in a different thread.

Let's all return to the discussion of pricing, shall we?

    Thanks in advance.

    Can I name it? :D

In fairness to ed. If every farmer was a stubborn we'd be getting paid properly for our milk.

but they're not and that's why I'd have no hope for the new grain growers effort either.
The work'll be left to a few

Ah Rangler correct me if I'm wrong but are you suggesting you kind of have a secret admiration for my stubborn streak. I think that's about the nicest thing you have ever said to me. Possibly we have more in common than we realise. Getting all emotional here. Bff.

Met a friend yesterday, bemoaning the difference between what he got for his milk at Dairygold compared to his near neighbour Lisavard.
€24K in the one year alone, he estimates.
People on the Price Thread are chasing .5 cent and a bit more solids to get a return on their hard work.
Now the people supplying Glanbia or Kerry didn't do too well on price either. But the money skinned off their suppliers has been used a fatten the balance sheet of a multinational, at least.

BTW, KG, I was busy finishing a contract over the last week. I didn't sulk off and close my account, to open again a few months later. Or maybe it was User John you were looking for?

And ed, it seems similar total plant to Mallow built on a greenfield site in NZ came in something around half the cost. That would have given Dairygold suppliers almost all of the diff with Lisavard.

Who is Bridget ? Still having spent that amount of money surely questions need to be asked? The EPA is obviously not happy with the set up either.

Looks like this could also have implications for planned discharges in to cork harbour also as objectors are citing this as a reason to object to the east Cork partnership with the Norwegians.

Na but I have a solo recording that I'm waiting for the right time to release. They say timing is everything. Not sure if John would be interest in a duet? Maybe for a charity gig?

That said for those who are uncomfortable with the truth? If they want to direct their disapproval at Louis Walsh? Possibly an idea? Sorry Louis?

I don't know why farmers allow themselves to be treated the way they are, maybe they're already a bit punch drunk.
I do know there's damn few to pick up the gauntlet, but there's plenty to complain about those who do.

Can't disagree with that. Believe me I totally get where your coming form on that one. I think as a society we are conditioned at an early age to do as we are told and not question. Sure what would the neighbours think probably has a lot to do with it.

Ambitious people in farm organisations came much too close and cosy with those in the dairy industry.
You remember the times when farmers went on strike against the monopoly of the Irish Sugar Co supplying inputs. I even remember older neighbours going in and making the butter in the creamery when staff were on strike.
Farmers were willing to make sacrafices to the better benefit for all in the long run.

Why should dairy farmers put up with 4 cent/litre less than their neighbours and not utter a peep? Real fight is gone out of them.

4 cent per litre is over 14 pence per gallon in old money! Our forefathers would be turning in their graves if to knew!

Possibly some of our Co Ops would be better managed by Louis Walsh? I doubt if his pay scale would be anything more than the going rate?

It wasn't just milk supporting the price in carbery synergy a company they own in the US had an exceptional year. They made calls that worked for them and those coops are ahead of all others in the country. Dairygold are in the middle of course I'd prefer to be ahead but we ahead of others in milk price, including arrabawn according to the FJ. Also dairygold are one of two who took a hit in operating profits when all others went up so you'd assume they had more of a margin to put into price.
grass is always greener the likes of Ed weren't happy and left fair play to him but jumping up and down how dairygold is crap and every other coop is great is only coming across as bitterness and nothing else

Would be made in Ireland, but as Dairygold spread would also have a number of other ingredients other than butter, not all the ingredients would be Irish. If you want to support Irish I'd say use proper Irish butter whatever brand.

Bit off topic - but does anyone know, or how would you find out who makes the own branded butter for each super market?
    E.g. Super valu, Dunnes, etc...
