I'm absolutely not comparing the fights, I'm just pointing out that I confidently doubted him in those other fights

Yes, and then using those doubts and you being proved wrong as some argument that he proves us wrong in the squared circle....bonkers!

Would you doubt him in a golf match against Rory McIlroy . He proved you wrong against Mendes and Aldo.

You prob see MMA and boxing as similar enough granted .

I see them as worlds apart.

I'm not a huge boxing or MMA fan but iv'e seen Mayweather's fights and iv'e seen McGregor's fights and i'd be surprised if the fight goes past a single round. Mayweather is a boxer. In what universe can anyone possibly think he McGregor has a chance against even a half decent boxer never mind a guy considered as possibly the greatest boxer to ever live? I'm utterly perplexed at how anyone could lump money on McGregor to win.

i'm only a casual fan myself

i watched mayweather v canelo today and was seriously impressed

I can only guess that mayweather toys with him such is the gulf in class

But Floyd has lost a step or two, and just enough for Conor to exploit!

Cant see it dude . He will come out with a craxy unorthodox stance i think until it settles down .

So any bets made for a Floyd win?

I'm just waiting for the best price but I will be putting all I can reasonably afford on FM inside the distance. Will post evidence here.

Not very given that he fights in a way which doesn't play into his opponent's hands.

In the Diaz 2 fight for example, each time he put Diaz down.... he didn't follow in with some gnp or even attempt to pass his guard as he knew the probability was that he would don't do to well.... given Nate's superior bjj.

With Jose he famously predicted he would come out with all guns blazing and go for him, over extend and well we know what happened there.

He's out of his depth in this fight for sure.... but McGregor is not stupid....... he will study Floyd try to frustrate him as best he can.

Conors odds should be around 500/1 . Floyd could get injured . However if bookies priced Conor at 500/1 their exposure would be too much. Conors fans who are infatuated and blinded by his MMA greatness will throw money on his to win .

There is a lot of these people around. Hence why the odds are closer than the reality of what is happening

A lot of assumptions in that interpretation of the odds.

I find it difficult to understand anyone who thinks Mc Gregor has any chance here - it seems just because he took the fight people believe he thinks he can win - I have absolutely no doubt Mc Gregor is purely in this for the dollars, and believe he will admit himself after the fight, and most likely say he had no chance if he is honest about it.

But many do believe that Conor truly believes he is going to win......there's a whole lot of fooling going on!

That doesn't really hold up to scrutiny tbh. No doubt there are some Conor fans wading in blind, but there should be at least as many Floyd fans, boxing fans, or just clued in MMA/Conor fans to balance that.

Most importantly, the bankrolls of professional punters in the market outweigh the casual bets by a long shot.

The market is frankly baffling. Last I checked, there was nearly €4m traded on Floyd and only €1.2m on Conor.

Yes but sure that offends people for some strange reason . How dare you think he has no hope in a different sport . How dare you think Conor is in it for the money . How are you think that Floyd wins with complete ease . So weird

Their idol is selling out to get a beating in a boxing ring . And they are in denial about it.

I have no issues with it . In the fight game get your money and get out.

I'll tell you something, Mayweather and his camp are going to be in for a surprise when they face off as the stats might have McGregor only having an inch in height over Floyd..... but the stats said that McGregor only had an inch in height over Eddie Alvarez too............

    Eddie-Alvarez-Conor-McGregor-561214.jpg

Which resulted in Eddie standing on his tippy toes a few times during the weigh-in face off, but when he wasn't that just showed the same really and it was clear that Conor had more than an inch on him..........

The height difference was most notable in the actual fight though, as was the reach difference too of course...........

I've stood beside Conor and I'd say he's closer to 5 10". Maybe a little more.

Can't wait for these pressers. Should be fun.

Oh he will be a bigger than him alright . But he is nowhere near 5ft 10 . I met him in Sanry Sports Clinic before the Diaz 1 fight . He is small for us lads but reckon Floyd is only 5ft 7 so will be very noticeable

You'd want to be fierce skinny now to be 6 5" and weigh in at 154lb.

Well, I'm 5 9" and he was taller than me.... by just over an inch I'd say.

    You say he's nowhere near 5 10"... so what's that mean to you? 5 8" / 5 9"?

Well, Eddie is supposed to be 5 7" and a half but it looked way more than an inch, inch and a half that McGregor had on him, wouldn't you say?

Anyway, we'll see at the face off... assuming they have one of course and nobody's wearing heels.

I actually genuinely dont care how big he is .

I just wanted to mention the fact me and my mrs were having a domestic in a waiting room and in strolled Conor and one of his entourage.

I tell a lot of people that story btw - i must be a fanboy ;-)

Be no different if Jon Jones was getting in the ring here. He too would get dominated.

    Were ye both barefoot?
If not the comparison isn't overly valid to be honest.

Boxing is about just that, to be able to box while not getting boxed. I think McGregor will walk onto everything because of his attitude. He needs to beat Mayweather at his own game literally, he needs to be the smart one. Let Mayweather come to him.
Of course McGregor won't do that, he's not an accomplished boxer who can out think his opponent. He's more of a bambi on ice fighter.
