It's pretty great, it does feel like a launchpad though for the TV series about The Continental, the hotel in the movies.

Ah ****, I really hope that doesn't happen. Enough mediocre TV shows on as it is.

John Wick 2 is pretty great. I'm big time into my grappling so I was a big fan of the fight choreography in both John Wick films. But more importantly theres a really nice dog in it :)

Plus I'm certain Keanu is actually getting younger.

Yeah I have one, used it for dumping protos/sample carts.

Not really any other use for it tbh!

Like I said, not the Brit critics, at least at first. It wasn't until it was out in the US did we see their critics point out the flaws that the UK ones seemed to glance over.

I know the lad who's developing the pyra had a plan to bundle one with a raspberry pi and a shell but I don't think anything ever came of it.

Currently in Token. It's fantastic but they really need to put some effort into CRT calibration and stick maintenance!

To be fair they do actively fix issues - the Tetris screen is back in action.

Yeah I agree with you, I had a hard time pulling off moves in Street Fighter II when I was trying to play.

I also see that they had one or two of their original machines with LCD replacements.

Still... it's a step in the right direction.

They did seem surprised though that people stole their tokens when I visited... they had switched them all to 50c instead.

I mean... when I bought big bags of tokens for arcades back in the day I brought them home too... I probably wasn't going to use them all in one go.

I made it to Bison on one credit on first play. Joystick and buttons were 100% perfect for me. This was on Monday evening so maybe they have fixed it since you were in.

I just put in 50c - didn't realise there were actual "tokens".

It's a great spot. Some food, beers, games, then pop over to Lighthouse for the back to the future trilogy. :D

Don't get me wrong, it's a great place, I had incredible fun last night - especially on the pins.

It's just a bit frustrating to see so many CRTs out of focus or with colour pots turned way too high. A few minutes with each machine and they'd all look brilliant.

I'm looking forward to heading there, maybe for a Beers...
I have to have a good excuse to go a-rambling at night in Dublin... not yet time to feed....

They take reservations and their bigger tables will hold about 8 people.

Totally down for a Retro night in there.

Maybe we could even make our own prizes or something? Have a competition on something and win some games or dupes from eachother's collections?

Are they not giving out the tokens anymore and it's now 50c to play or am i getting the wrong end of the stick here?

Yep! That's right. Last night they were giving out little baggies of 50c coins.

You should send them some feedback and im sure they could try and fix the issues. Complaining about it on here is a bit like pissing in the wind. :pac:

No more tokens. All machines are set to 50c play.

    I would not recommend this.

A friend had his birthday there 2 weeks ago and they insisted in payment up front so we all had to choose what platters we wanted and pay. I picked from the menu option that claimed to be gluten free. But when get there to find they didn't seem to actually reserve a table so we had to wait two hours until we could be seated and then it took them 20 minutes after the food came to tell me what was safe for me to eat and by that stage all the food I could eat was gone. So basically I spent €12 to wait 2 hours to not eat any food.

And I 100% do not trust them on what food is safe as the next time I was in I tried to order what I was told was safe and was then told it wasn't okay.

I can live with poorly calibrated screens but getting crap like that wrong is crazy.

Also still no sign of the memberships they took money for on their kickstarter.

To be fair to them they're still in a soft launch phase so they're still trying to work out some of the kinks.

When was it that this happened? Now that they're in the "walk in" phase things may have eased up a little?

Then they shouldn't be charging full prices if they're not capable of delivering a full service. Zero apology or offer of refund.

No other restuarant would dream of opening with this sort of 'But it's my first day' attitude.

Well apart from some screen calibration issues and not having any seats to sit at when I was there I still enjoyed myself.

I definitely had the arcade feel from it like I did in arcades years ago.

At least we have an Arcade Bar in this country now!

Oh I do like the place.

I'm just not recommending booking a large table and paying for food in advance.

    They're not doing that anymore.

You book a table and order when you get there.

That may be the case but they're still missing basic allergen information on their menus and the responses you get from staff are inconsistent as to the ingredients.

And worse than that the platter menu which does have allergen information on it is incorrect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,274 ✭✭✭MrVestek

Probably best not to order the Anthrax burger then...

I actually have a rosette maker now so I could make a prize badge maybe.

I didn't get membership but I got the tee and badge, it's been ages now.

Must get in and have a look, its looks fairly packed in all the images so must be doing well. the food they posted in the pictures looked great in fairness, but i guess if you have specific dietary requirements then it should be spelt out. the amount of times my diabetic brother has been handed full coke in places over the years is ridiculous. Just out of curiosity, was the lift working from the kickstarter? I wouldnt be worried about waiting on kickstarter stuff a few months, im still waiting on my "Lampster" from kickstarter and that was funded nearly 2 years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

Yep. Elevator was up and running from launch.

About all I can eat in there are the mediocre salads which a bit overpriced for what they are. Oh and they have one okay cider in bottles. Crazy that they don't use corn tortillas.

I've an event organised there for next Thursday by the way if anyone wants to pop along then.

Allergen information is statutory now, so they better get their act together or they'll be in breach and get fined.
