Got an awful fright just now. I was walking from the van in Lidls car park and nearly got hit by a Nissan Leaf (electric car). I didn't hear it coming around the corner behind me.

    Bit USC will be gone......

When they merge it with PRSI ;)

A real politicians solution to scrapping an unfair charge.

    How so unfair?

Do you mean cos it's charged on all your wages? Or cos it's an income tax, without calling it an income tax?

Part of me thinks it's not a bad thing that everyone, no matter how little they make contributes something to the running of the country...
But USC, extra tax on top of an existing tax didn't sit well with me when it came about...
This merging it with income tax - I have to read the detail of this...

I suspect it's because it is a temporary tax that is still here so many years later

I'm kinds thinking the same . So long as the tax doesn't go up it's better than the last few years . If it's comes down a bit all the better but I don't expect it to really. Don't care what it's called .
I like the way Leo talks and hopefully it will be a bit better than just talk

    I didn't hear the interview.

Was just listening to newstalk drive yesterday on the tractor and Sarah mcinerney seems very pleased his performance. She said he's more decisive in his actions than previous taoisaigh.:p

Myself and the father were talking about that picture on the front of the independent with him jogging with the Canadian prime minister. We were saying we couldn't imagine Simon Coveney doing that or going for a jog.:D

You have to look with a bit of a jaundiced eye on the current media coverage of Leo. A lot of the favourable coverage is a reaction to having another 'Country & Western' Taoiseach for the last 8 years or so since 'Urban' Bertie was cast aside despite him being an actual Dub.

Leo's future will be decided after the next election and a lot of party supporters would prefer Simon in there on the assumption that a Dublin based Taoiseach will know little and care less about rural issues. Talking to a few FG supporters round here saying they will see what happens between now and the next election before making a decision but aren't hopeful. Simon could just be the luckiest loser of that contest and be in prime position to take the role after the next election and a Dublin wipeout of FG again.

Income tax was brought in by the french government of a few hundred years ago... as a temporary measure.
    .
We all see how that panned out :)

    You could be right.

I know someone who would be considered conservative and that would be a mild way of saying homophobic, rascist and bigoted. But their heart is in the right heart place even if they come out with some stonkers.

But before the fg talks my father had him convinced that Leo was the man to vote for (and not just because he sent him a bithday card).

Talking to him again he said he's voting for Simon. Why?
Apparently he found out at the talk from some enlightened individuals that Leo has a boyfriend, he's not Irish and he has questions about his religion.
Even though my father explained Leo's whole history in detail before the talks or at least he thought he did a good job of explaining it.

Scanning done, 9/15 currently in calf- a few might be.

Dosing and last two calves disbudded. Tired now.

Have the small lady for the evening and a friend hoping to go to willie Clancy festival tonight for a few hours but I doubt it.
