The #ad #spon thing really grates on me. I find it hard to believe anything FBG says to be honest.

    What was this about?

Basically she told everyone that she had brought her mum a present because she let her and her boyfriend move in with her when she had her baby. She showed a big red fancy box with a bow and the mum opened it and it was a tv.

Fast forward a few hours, almost all the major bloggers showed of the same big red box and box and told everyone how Currys had kindly sent them some products that they needed. For example, Siobhan oh fitness got loads of laptop stuff as she had given up her job and was working from home on her health stuff.

So Grace cleary got a free tv and was passing it off as she had bought it with her own money for her mum.

there's absolutely no way today it is not an ad!

she got put up in a hotel overnight, picked up in a fancy car, that happened to have bottles of the tan in all the drinks holders, brought to body and soul while snapping about running a facebook competition with the tan company for 12 people to win 12 bottles, and then taking over the tans own snapchat account for the day?

I'm sorry, but I don't believe that this wasn't an ad? She promoted the tan all day long. I wouldn't be leaving my husband and baby to go up to Dublin for a night then a festival just because I loved a certain tan.

There is no way that tan was not an ad it was in the car in holders and everything.
After what she did when promoting that jewellers when she pretended she was buying a ring I don't trust her at all now.

Yeah I found the ring one very odd. I thought she was at least getting the ring for free but I find it hard to believe she done a professional video and all that promotions without any money crossing hands as she didn't even get the ring. She is also really bad for not #ad on snapchat but doing so on Instagram/fb because she said it was too much effort

I just watched a YouTube video about this for YT Beauty Bloggers "REAL TALK: SPONSORSHIPS, BRAND TRIPS, FREE PRODUCTS" by Samantha Ravndahl, definitely worth a look!!

I love Samantha, she comes across so honest. I also seen her call out Smashbox in Twitter for doing paid ads with influencers and not ensuring they were using #ad. They were using some brand specific # and Smashbox felt like this was enough but she said it was tricking the consumer.

FBG has broken her phone, or dropped it in water or something, and came on snap to say why she wouldn't be snapping... Just watch, a new phone will arrive at her door any day now. She may as well just come out and say 'can someone send me a new Iphone please?'... I'd nearly have more respect for her if she did. The hints for a new one were thick and fast today.

I hope not. I have never been able to see what people find appealing about her. Unless it's that she's a mother, women usually love mums.

She has a new one now, bought herself. Have a look at her twitter. It's awful that the first thing I thought was that she'd get a phone for free lol

O no she got that ring. Another well known jewelers in munster wanted her for promos and when she didnt get her way it didnt go ahead. That was just a few wks before the whole ring thing appeared on line.

Genuinely shocked she bought it herself. Honestly. I'm not being funny. I would have thought she'd have waited to see would somebody offer her one!!

That was so weird all that trouble promoting them and saying she didn't like the ring definitely an ad her and grace are the worst offenders .. grace has had so much bad publicity I'm surprised at the companies who still choose to work with her

She tweeted today tagging meteor asking where she will get an I phone 7 today . Straight away i thought she's looking for a new phone, there was absolutely no reason to tweet that she could have gone online or called her nearest store .. that begging for free items is so obvious

They were using a PR company years ago, must have been told freebies to bloggers is the way to go.

If the company's were punished for not making bloggers use #ad things would soon change.

What really peeved me off last week was Sosume walkng around Bella Baby showing lots of things they stocked. She doesn't even have a baby! I think it was her nephew but why bother showing off the shop if it wasn't a paid gig?

She did say at two months the baby is so intelligent it's ready to walk and talk so she's not the sharpest tool.

    That was clearly a joke.

It would make you wonder. The makeup fairy said last night she is sick of having to pay £70 to get her nails (hands and feet) done. That it's to expensive. She will be collaborating with a salon from July. That she is used to getting them done for free until she moved! Surely she should have been #ad all this time? Because she did put up a list wverytime with the the name of place and a discount code? So advertising?

Poor crayture. Must be awful to have to actually put your hand in your pocket and pay for your treatments like the rest of us
But ya she clearly said she's used to getting them done for free in Ireland.
Anyway, as far as I'm aware a freebie isn't an ad? Even though it should be AFAIC, especially when you are making money through the discount codes. I would consider that a payment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭idunno78

If it's free and you agree to positively review in place of payment thatnnees to be ad. I've explained that v badly!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,552 ✭✭✭bigpink

Sounds like a diva use to it being free

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 447 ✭✭qxtasybe1nwfh2

Yeah she obviously isn't used to paying for them because I don't feel 70£ is far off what you would pay in Ireland for both gel polish on feet and nail extentions. Most places around me charge 50euro for gel nails alone.

I just think, would she be promoting the nail salon in dub if she wasn't getting them for free and gaining from the discount code. She said herself she wouldn't pay 70 To have them done again. I feel the same with all influencers. I would be more likely to rave about something if it was free than if I was paying full whack. Even if it is subconsciously, I just wouldn't judge something the same personally.

Would influencers declare a foundation as their must have if they had to buy that and all the other foundations they have told me are essential aswell for example. I take everything now with a grain of salt.

It's actually gas when you think about it and just goes to show how absolutely out of touch with reality these people are that they are so used to getting sh!t for free, when they have to pay full price they think it's extortion and can't be bothered going again. Yet they have NO problem recommending places for us average Joe's where we pay full price. Sure she's "collaborating" soon so she won't have to spend her own money for long- God forbid.

All those bloggers live in another world. The well known irish ones seem to be always on hols..i use to like pippa but opinion is starting to change. They are becoming so far removed from reality of normal run of the mill lives

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,552 ✭✭✭bigpink

Did faces get a free phone yet lol

I'm a bit sceptical of some of these "amazing" reviews. Joanne just posted one there of the lip kits. SoSueMe regularly posts make-up artists and vloggers using the contour kits.
Are they paying these reviewers? Do they ever #ad them? I know it's up to the reviewer themselves to declare it an ad, but is there an onus on the business to ensure they do?

I don't mind pippa's holidays, they look to be genuine paid for holidays with family/friends. Other bloggers however seem to do a bit of promoting of hotel chain, travel agent in my view.
