Ligaments I heard. Didnt hear anything about Flynn. Apparently Greg Lally is going very well and should be on the bench for the Leinster final

Are the clubs being issued tickets for the Leinster final?
An hour and a half queue in Pearse stadium this morning. Surely to god the county board could accommodate people that work 9-5 a bit better? Open the office last Saturday even.

Are these not on sale in SuperValu etc as is or is there a reason people want to buy them from Pearse regardless?.

Think people get better lower Hogans from the stadium.

Only crap seats online. That's all linked to SuperValu too through tickets.ie I'd imagine. You're buying from the same pool as any neutrals. So tickets won't be as good as what a competing county should get.
Buying from Pearse stadium at least means tickets should be good, which ours were but it only took an hour and a half.
The point is if they're opening up the office to sell, why do it on a Monday morning? It's closed today at 4. Surely should be open in the evening or Saturday just gone.

Just back from the minor game.

Decent crowd out at it for a single game on a Wednesday.

By far the better team but only drew level on the stroke of HT after playing with the wind due to a Roscommon goal that put them two up.

Galway were just poor with the final ball in, built but dominated play aside from that. Constantly hitting it into outnumbered forwards and struggling to move the ball through the middle third at pace.

Never really looked like losing it in the second half despite going from 1 up to 1 down in the space of 30 seconds after a poor kick out was kicked straight back over.

Took a firm hold after that and kicked on.

Did give Roscommon a small chance when poor defending(ball went to the defender behind who flapped at it towards goal when he should have nudged forward a yard and let it go behind) lead to a ball touched on the ground and a penalty with 1 min to go and six ahead but the keeper saved it well.

Some good performances from one of the corner backs(number 4) who won tonnes of 40-60 balls into his marker.

Number 7 at HB(MoTM) who kicked 2 or 3 from play and carries the ball well(size wise is too small for HB at the minute looking towards senior).

The FB looks a good ball carrier and has a slick fake hand pass that saw him nearly get in for a goal as well as leave a few others for dead(prob have a future in the HB line skill wise).

And most have probably seen Murphy due to last years run, he reminds me of Diarmuid Connolly in a lot of ways.

Should really be winning the final now and completing the three in a row. Some turn around from 2007-2014 when we were massively under performing at this level.

Took Galway a long time to get going but finished strongly to see off Roscommon. To be honest wasn't a performance that'd convince you Galway are All-Ireland contenders but the pitch was slippy which made life hard. Physically you'd worry for a lot of the Galway lads against bigger opponents.

Connacht final now v Sligo on the day of the senior final.

Well I would have thought the obvious answer being that the people in the ticket offices work 9-5 as well?

What kind of crowd is expected, surely there will be plenty of decent tickets around?

24,324 was the attendance of the Connacht final in Salthill last year would expect a similar sized crowd for July 9th.

That's a pretty impressive attendance considering the absolute horrible day it was.

It was the first connacht final we had a good chance of winning in a while thats why attendance was so good. I jumped on the bandwagon that day and went to it, the weather didnt help but was probably one of the worst football games I was ever at! I vowed never to go to one again until puke football has had its day. Ill stick with the hurling

Had you kept the faith and gone to the replay just a week later you'd have seen some tremendous football

Hurling attendances have been excellent from a Galway point of view the last 2-3 years. A large part of this is because they get supporters from all over the county. Would be nice to see the hurling folk repay the compliment Sunday week. Doubt it however

There wasn't much tremendous in one team not turning up.

Castlebar is far handier for most Roscommon people to get to even disregarding how much of a traffic hellhole Salthill is so he's right in that the drop had more to do with Galway's support than ours. Saturday afternoons would probably rule a few out because of work as well.

To be blunt, Roscommon supporters will always turn up to any Connacht final at any grade - Galway's support is much softer and depends more on how much hype surrounds the team.

Agree with this and I've been involved in underage football/hurling in Galway for quite a while now

The hurling is similar enough tbh. A huge crowd will hit Dublin tomorrow as Galway are AI favourites and will more than likely pick up some silverware. Look at the crowd in the Leinster Final in 2012 v the Cats for comparison

Every county does it to an extent but I've found Roscommon, Mayo and Cavan fans in particular outstanding for unconditional support

Don't get me wrong I rarely attend county matches myself. I'd choose a club game between two neutrals in Galway over watching the county team tbh. Can't get invested in it nearly as much as my home or adopted clubs

There's going to be a huge crowd from Wexford going to Croke Park. Having lived down here for years, it's a long time since I came across this level of interest amongst Slaneysiders and they're going to bring at least 30k if not 40k to the match. Is there a big crowd from Galway going?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Lot more Galway round Dublin so far. Could see 20k from west.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 808 ✭✭✭Angry bird

Could beat the previous 55k record for a Leinster final so.

60,032. New record for Leinster final alright!

    Leinster champions again.
That was not as exciting as 2012 but they won it handy enough really.
Whos next in the semi now ? Waterford would spoil the party for us I think or Cork could up it a gear or two if a final was in sight.
I know Tip and the cats would love to halt our gallop but I fancy our chances against either of them, that's what I think anyway I'm sure others wont agree .
The plan is on target for now.
    GO ON GALWAY.

If they want to beat an on form Tipp or KK team they will have to step up a bit from today's preformance.

Of the main teams left I would be confident of beating Tipp, Kilkenny or Cork. That's of course if we perform. Waterford are the team that worries me.

They were excellent in second half. First half was always gonna be tough s Wexford were gonna throw kitchen sink at them . Surely a good sign when canning David Burke and whelan have quiet game and ya still win Leinster final by 9 points . Honestly think we will be hard beaten if we stay injury free. Fair play to Wexford they brought great colour and atmosphere today and were gracious in defeat

Great win today. Very thorough second half. I'd be worried about the shape galway had in the first half. It felt like a few years ago where ball is lumped downfield and every forward has to win his own ball, turn his man and score from an angle.
Second half was a huge improvement. I don't remember a Galway team pulling as much high ball out of the sky in a long time.
Allowed them to flick a hand pass to a spare man and then look downfield for a runner. Led to a load of scores. Great to see the cooneys have games of their lives.

Great performance to come out and blitz Wexford in the second half. Great credit to the players and management. Donoghue had courage too to take off Flynn after two bad wides, they were poor shots. Niall Burke had a couple bad wides too but donoghue must have made a very tight call between starting Flynn and someone else like Monaghan, because he took Flynn off pronto and left burke on, and burke scored a few later on.
