Off the ball this evening had a good ol post mortum of poor Mayo and about 30 secs on Galway who "werent great". Yet again another Kerry doofus Michael Quirke. The fat lump couldnt last more than 20 mins in any game he ever played and now hes an "analyst".

I don't think Quirke meant that in a bad way about Galway. I think he was referring to Galway getting the win without them playing to their potential. It was a good result for Galway football Sunday grinding out that win with plenty to build on for next day.

Surely an analyst should be able to articulate his thoughts better than "they weren't great" if thats not what he meant. Himself, the two O Se's have got gigs in the media because they were Kerry players. If they were from any other county they wouldnt get a look in. Brutal analysts. The jury is still out on Cooper.

Joe Cooney picked up an injury in the last round of club championship.

Glad to see Donoghue has picked a strong team, put the game against Offaly away early and then empty the bench.

On a side note, great to see Greg Lally back on the panel, hopefully he can regain his form from before his cruciate injury. A quality hurler, and although Georoid Mac has performed well this year - he is still very suspect. Lally would be an ideal centre back.

Donnellan is meant to be carrying an injury too. I wonder what the latest on Glynn is?

Glynn left panel before the Dublin game

Think Greg was always a bit slow off the mark for county

It's funny, Greg is twice the club hurler Mac is but the county game operates at a different pace altogether which suits Mac. Mac is far better in the middle than wing which has suited him so much this year

Caught slightly for the Dub goal though imo, and an iffy performance was glossed over that day

Am amazed Sean Morrissey still isn't called in. Easily the best defender in the three club rounds so far

Glad to see Niall Burke getting a chance to stake his claim here. Has shown some good form in the gametime he's got recently and won pretty much everything thrown at him late in the Dublin game even if it was as good as over at that stage.

Glad to see tomorrow looks like a very nice day in Portlaoise. Should help us.

Offaly gave us a game for a while last year but it was a miserable day and turned into a bit of a scrap. Having seen Offaly in the first game of the league they were terrible, they've a lot of new players too by sounds of it.

Hopefully a handy win, no injuries or sendings off.

Have a listen to Micheal Donoghue..."Johnny had surgery on his knee 2 weeks ago and will be sidelined for the next 2/3 weeks" . Doesnt seem like a line about a player who has left the panel!!

Well then they must have come to another agreement as he had left the panel before the Dublin game (when he was home for an Ardrahan Champ game)

Lord above our best chance of an All Ireland in yonks do we really need this nonsense bringing home a player half way across the world ffs.

Niall Burke really hitting form again, Monaghan impressing every time he comes on, Donnellan never let the side down. Plus the starting 6 from the Dublin game, there is plenty in reserve there. Eanna Burke well able to double up in the forwards if needed

cant make the game today but nothing less than at least a ten point win will be a disaster

Leave that kind of arrogance to the Mayo footballers.!!
Respect your opposition and enjoy the game.
Galway WILL win this one. Offaly are rebuilding. Enough said.;)

Not arrogance if yer serious about winning AI nothing less than total focus on winning the game your playing.would be no respect if they don't take this seriously and just show up expecting to win.Offaly are ****e at the moment but are more than capable of troubling galway today.

It's a pure no win sort of game that they just need to get out of the way.

Put in a really good performance and hop Offaly around the place and all the talk will be about how far back Offaly are gone.

Get involved in a decent match and all the talk will be Galway are no where near good enough to win Leinster or the All-Ireland.

Any sort of win and avoiding injuries will do for me.

Well it could be said that 33 scores is some going.

Nearly one every two minutes. Kilkenny in their prime weren't even scoring that much on Offaly.

Held them to 5 points in the second half.

Maloney came on and did well.

A great outing bar the injury to Mannion but he could be back in a few weeks.

    Relatively satisfactory day out.

On the negative side, the balance of the backline is still a worry. The number of goal chances we gave up in the first half was scary. A team better than Offaly would certainly have had at least 3 goals by half time. Lots of things to tidy up there. There was a lot of space left in behind at times. The one thing you don't do playing an underdog is give them a goal to give them hope and this is the 2nd year in a row we gifted Offaly a goal to start with. Today it doesn't really matter but think of the momentum an early goal would give Wexford in the Leinster final.

Cathal Mannion's injury is a worry. Hopefully we'll get him back for the final. He had started the game quite well. Was pleased for Shane Maloney to get a run out. He's tipped away on the fringes of the panel for a while but he worked hard and knocked over some nice scores when he came on. He couldn't be faulted much for the goal chance either. Was a good save.

33 points is a good total. You'd have hoped to get at least a couple of goals against Offaly but I think Galway were content for today to just tally up the points rather than go for broke at times. Offaly's main objective really was to minimise the goal threat given they conceded 7 to us back in February and another shedload to Tipperary in a challenge game recently.

Conor Whelan is really starting to step forward now as a big player for us. Won an awful lot of ball cleanly, lots of excellent scores and got through a huge amount of work. Joe Canning didn't look to be over extending himself. We'll need more from him the next day out. Apart from that Jason Flynn's form is a worry.

Davy had seen enough before 50 minutes which kind of said it all really about how the 2nd half panned out.

    The real stuff starts now.

Not perfect but a good win. Whelan outstanding, Harte and Padraig Mannion took the wind out of their sails, Daithi Burke was excellent and Niall Burke and Maloney had good outings.

Few wasted goal chances and a fierce soft one conceded but they got out of Portlaoise with a single injury worry.

Hopefully they won't bomb aimless ball into a 0 man full forward line like the last 10 in the first half.

Does anybody know when the draw for the next round of the club football championship is? I'm struggling to find any info out there!

Don't think that's been decided yet. When the next round(s) will even be played depends heavily on what happens in Salthill in a few weeks time. If Galway lose that and go into the qualifiers then god knows when the next round of the club championship will be played. Such is the life of a club footballer!

thought it a bit rich of a member of the Muslim community in London as interviewed by Sky News to bang out about how they have been persecuted when every terrorist attack in London and Mancs since 2007 has been conducted by ppl of the Muslim community.

How can the Muslim continuity say they are under siege (in the UK) when this event is the first terrorist attack against them that I've heard off and westerns in the uk have been slaughters by ppl of their kind on the streets of London and in Manchester.

I am hearing a lot about Islamophobia but the Muslim population in the UK don't seem to recognize Westerophobia .

It looks to me that this terrorist attack specifically targeted against Muslims is being cynically used to explain away Westerophobia because Islamophobia is what kicked it all off in the first place.

I don't buy that for a second. If there were no Islamist attacks in the Uk then last nights attack would never have happened.

i dont think you can blame the lads in up at pearse stadium for that :D now in fairness
