when in the name of fook are we getting samsung pay? None of my cards are supported by android pay either at the moment. When I was getting the phone all this was just waiting around the corner to be released, by the time it comes out I'll be replacing the phone

Yeah, still waiting here. Ordered on the 14th of May.

Was planning on sending an email later actually.

Plus another item I bought at the same time as an impulse buy after seeing it on the pigsback site. Coming from a different company, but also not arrived yet.
Emailed them yesterday and was told they'd sent out another since the first one didn't arrive.

I thought you could load non-contactless cards even onto samsung pay? So it doesn't matter if the terminal is contactless or not even..

I never got around to it in the end, so need to contact them now really.

What is MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission)?
Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) is a technology that emits a magnetic signal that mimics the magnetic strip on a traditional payment card. MST sends a magnetic signal from your device to the payment terminal's card reader (to emulate swiping a physical card without having to upgrade the terminal’s software or hardware). MST technology is accepted at nearly all payment terminals with a card reader. Some payment terminals may require software updates. Simply select a card from Samsung Pay, and transmit the payment information by moving your device within an inch of the payment terminal. Your transaction and payment information will be kept private and secure with the use of tokenization. MST is more secure than using a traditional payment card and is as secure as paying with Near Field Communication (NFC).

Contacted them through Pigsback as it seems to be the only way. Got a response almost immediately.

What makes you say it isn't 'turned on'? Works on my phone, maybe the cards you are trying to add are not supported by the financial institution.

I should be able to add anything with a magnetic stripe... since that's what the hardware is capable of

Not necessarily. Financial institutions are not going to let anybody add their cards without having secure systems in place on their end and also without having signed up to the service with Samsung/Google.

Thanks, yeah for some reason I thought the company contact details were there too, but no.

I sent a message to them last night and got a response an hour ago.
They're sending a replacement out to me now too.

Are you trying to tell me its turn on or that it shouldn't be allowed? Make up your mind lol

    What?

You seem to think that just because they technology is within the phone this means you should be able to add whatever card you want, that is not how it works at all.

You were telling me it worked for you and my cards mustn't be supported. You are using android pay and not samsung pay. Which is what I was asking about.

I don't really want to hear your opinion on the subject anyway; dismissive tone of your post is embarrassing.

Arrived yesterday so not a bad wait time when they did send it.

Anyone know how to get rid of or disable "Enhanced Features". I get a notification 3-4 times a day asking me to update. If I try to update just to get rid of the notification it asks for permission to use my SMS, contacts and log voice calls. I do not want to give these permissions. I cannot see anywhere in the system anything called enhanced features so that I can disable or uninstall it. It looks like it is an app which I currently do not even have installed, but Samsung are insisting on forcing me to install it.

    Any ideas?

That's a fantastic attitude to have on a discussion forum.

I've looked a few times to uninstall it too, the notification is really annoying at least once a day

Skype just appeared on my S7 this afternoon. It was never there before. And I can't uninstall it, only disable it.

Looks like it's not coming to Ireland anytime soon. Its not available in Google Play store so unless you get the APK then you can't get it on an Irish phone.
I contacted Samsung Ireland to ask when Samsung Pay would be available. Got this stock answer
"We're afraid Samsung Pay isn't available in Ireland at the moment. Do keep an eye out for any further information on our website and social channels."

I came across some dodgy link/website today and within seconds my phone started beebing. This has never, ever happened me before, and I got a note saying if I didn't install a certain product then my system would crash. Really annoying how this happened (I spent the day searching for diy material so can't think of where it came from).

Amid the brouhaha I downloaded an app called 'Super Lock', which was offered as the solution by what seemed to be Google itself. This only added to the trouble, so I deleted it pretty quickly.

I've two questions, therefore: did an anti-virus/malware product not come pre-installed on this S7? If so, what's it called?

What is the best free anti-virus/malware that I could download in Google Play? The Kaspersky Antivirus & Security free one was very basic. Anything more comprehensive? Thanks.

Anyone got any good recommendations for a tempered glass screen protector? I got a Spigen one from Amazon but it's not fully sealed at the sides of the screen, pity cos Spigen stuff is generally pretty good.

    Btw I have a non edge S7.
