Sean Powter and Cork deciding to push up and attack have changed the game

Best football we've played was the last 3 mins. Why didnt we do that when we got ahead earlier.

    A tale of 2 half's.
Complete and utter shìte in the first while small patches of the 2nd we played well. To comeback straight away from conceding the goal to score was great to see but we should never have been in that position.

Blessed to win, but we Won!

Not sure I have EVER seen Cork play and shoot as poorly as we did in the first half.
AWFUL stuff altogether, Christ almighty it was brutal personified.

    Bring on Kerry:pac:

Didn't see much of the second half admittedly but the first was diabolical tbqh. 1 point at this level in 35mins....when's the last time that's been done in the Munster championship?

Tipp looked assured in possession first half, Cork far too slow to break - which was exemplified by Tipps opening point of the second half, turned over, two quick passes and it was down the other end of the field and over the bar. That said Cork seemed far quicker in the second half, Kerrigan had fellas coming off the shoulder when he carried as opposed to him being isolated in the first. The goal was well worked, naive on Tipps part not to foul further out the field and look to shut shop and frustrate Cork who were going to have to look for a goal.

Tactics were odd in the first - playing with the wind, short kickouts with ponderous, slow play forward. Felt for Kelleher being taken off given he only really had one ball of quality given in the first half (early on from Shields, cross field), O'Neill barely touched the ball the first half which was a sign of how little the FF line was fed. Would like to see some analysis on why the kickouts were so short, not to the side, barely out past the D. Either Cork didn't have a strategy or work done, or Tipp did a good job of packing the middle. Perhaps we'll see some work done on this for the final.

Quinlivan was a big loss, Tipp worked some lovely positions and should have capitalised more than they did. Corks shooting was off but they worked positions & took on the shots - from what I had seen of the Waterford highlights, not enough players wanted to take on the responsibility of shooting when in positions they should be well able of capitalising on. Thought Connolly, though not perfect in his shooting, was Corks best player for showing & taking on the shots. Kerrigan & Kerrigan 2.0 in Powter showed really well also.

Lots to work on, but Cork have reached a Munster final, overcome a tricky fixture in Tipp & can only improve upon today for the final. Hopefully I'll be in PUC to take in a clash against Kerry

Kerry would beat us with their 3rd team.

They will beat us out the gate

I fear what will happen when we open PUC

That was the worst first half I have ever seen

Play with a gale of wind but yet play a sweeper

Talk about negative and it didn't even work

We would have lost if Quinlivan stayed on the pitch. That injury looked horrific

Somehow PUC will not be ready to host the game so maybe a silver lining!

Seriously though, that's a big big fail to not have the new stadium ready. Statement doesn't give any details really other than it won't be ready.

Cork County Board couldn't organise a session in a brewery

Seriously they had a date in mind for few years

Jokeshop that stadium isn't ready in time

The County board is probably delighted, trim a few quid off the bill given it didn't come in on time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,077 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

The few quid off won't compensate for the loss of 2 Munster Finals

I prefer piss ups in killarney anyway, and seeing as that's probably all i've to look forward to this time round roll on Killarney

If Cork beat Waterford on Sunday then whats the bet they will have it ready for the MHC Final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,077 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

It won't be ready for that either

“The new Pairc Ui Chaoimh stadium will not host either of the Munster Finals scheduled for July, as originally planned.
“Cork County Board was informed this morning that the scheduled handover date of June 18th would not now be met. There are still some commissioning works to be completed and these will be finished by July 7th. The first game in the new stadium will take place in mid July.

Considering the years of planning and the actual start date it is a complete joke, but somehow we all knew it was probably going to happen. Shambles really.

one thing against that would be the extra work involved in rebuilding the terraces.

why the board were up to last week still saying the deadline would be met is baffling. were they talking to the contractors at all?

    More
This morning the county board denied to John Horgan the Páirc wouldn't be ready, by lunchtime that changed. Pity.

I think it's too much of a coincidence that they announced it the Monday after the footballers made it to the final. Those that knew, knew this long ago.

Of course they did, they knew they could have kept their mouths shut if we lost.

It comes down to money.....if the contractor admits they won't make deadline, they get penalised....contractor probably says delays are due to extra requests from County board and the county board doesn't agree......behind the scenes negotiations between the money men and they reach a deal.....then announce it.

it would also be nice to have the first home game in the new stadium , as a competitive game, with a Cork win, Munster football final does not fit that bill.

CCB the gift that keeps on giving

Fears P?irc U? Chaoimh cost may rise to €85m

Cork County Board have refused to comment amid fears that the cost of the P?irc U? Chaoimh redevelopment project may rise to €85m.

With original estimates for the stadium redevelopment at €70m, in November 2015 a special meeting of county board delegates was informed that the figure had risen to €78m. It now appears that that figure had been revised upwards again, but there has been no official comment from Cork chiefs.

Board chairman Ger Lane would not comment on speculation that the cost had increased towards the €85m mark.

They are naming the team tonight but from the audio at this link they will give him right up until before the match to prove his fitness.

Kingston says the ankle is improving every 24 hours. To me he sounded very hopeful anyway.

Every one else is available.Daniel Kearney is back to full fitness too.

Kearney is a good option to have back
