    No, it's completely different

Only different in that they're sure he'll get beat this time rather than hope

You wouldn't put a Gaelic footballer into Barcelona and expect them to fit in. Shur both sports have balls and you can kick the ball, only thing he can't do it handle it.

Can we have a show of hands, those of you saying he'll get destroyed by Mayweather ......how many had him getting beat against Alvarez and probably every other fight going back to Mendez (or further) ......I know this is somewhat different but it's also somewhat the same

Floyd will decide how many seconds, minutes, rounds he wants the fight to last. He will also decide what type of punishment will be dished out to McGregor.

Jesus Christ imagine what this thread would turn into on the weeks building up to this fight, or even if it was announced.

The week of a McGregor fight is unbearable on here as it is. :pac:

    For the latest news :)

He signed a 7-figure deal to flog Beats by Dre, well the 7-figures part is just what's floating on the interweb but the latter part is factual.

UFC veteran Chris Camozzi suggested Conor should try get as far as the 6th round and then head-kick his face off. Just because.

Unfortunately would never happen because there'll be a clause in the contract which will state if he tries anything like that he will lose his purse and more.

Could you imagine if the fight starts, they touch gloves and Conor pulls a capoeira kick on him. It would be amazing. :pac: If he didn't get his head taken off from it poor Floyd would probably dive through the ropes and out of the ring. :pac:

also fairly sure doing something that far out of the rules in place would result in assault charges

Be awful craic if Conor just took a right hander off Floyd and went double leg takedown and elbowed Money into submission lol

Shame its not a MMA fight...McG is gonna be left looking like a clown.

There are lots of things that say mcG will lose.logic.stats.different sports.experience.FM defence.mcG cardio (?).....
Whereas McG has a gud left.gud under pressure.

So everthing says he will probs lose but Fook it.I hope he wins just for my entertainment value and the anything is possible Ness.

On a side note.I would love to see mcG doing unorthodox movements in there but within the rules.I mean if he could somehow work it to his advantage and not break the rules do some sort of a tumble leading to some offence. ...I know I am probs dreaming but like the concept.

A tumble leading to offence in boxing. Ok folks we hit it. Low point of this whole thread. Everyone can stop racing to the bottom

Not suggesting anything like this will happen, but that tumble attack made me laugh.

Would a spinning backfist be illegal in boxing?

    Yeah it's illegal.

I wouldn't mind seeing some typical boxing dirty tricks though. Use of elbows in the clinch etc.

How is it good for any sport if some loud mouth casual comes in and luck boxes his way to victory against one of the all time greats? Would it have been good if James Toney KO'd Randy those years ago? It would be tragic. Randy taught him a lesson, and rightly so. It's like the Olympic ping pong champion coming over and beating Roger Federer at Wimbledon. Absolutely embarrassing. If this fight materialises it's a huge embarrassment, and a truly dominant beat down is the only thing that will save a little face.

I like the current strategy of waiting till Mayweather dies of old age

I can't remember who made the point (maybe Kenny Florian) but basically the one saving grace in this is that when Floyd does sign a deal, it's usually to fight soon.

It took years for him and Manny to get the deal done but they fought 6 weeks after they signed the deal.

This deal will probably get done a lot quicker but I expect the turnaround to be similar. Floyd might dilly-dally in negotiations but when he signs, it's straight to camp and fight.

Best guess would be they get the deal signed June 16th, announced for August 19th and bang were ready to go.

Then Conor to go for the quick turn-around for the UFC MSG Card in November to fight for the welterweight strap.

That was Chael. Was only listening to it last night. Reckons the fight will happen less than 5 weeks after its announced

Why June 16th?? Chael said on the same thing that August is the worst month for viewers across any sport. You never see big PPVs in August, obviously Conor v Nate last year but other than that?

I'm just guessing the fight is so big they could put it on during the middle of a nuclear war and still sell over 3 million PPV's.

    You're right it was Chael.

Would those figures be just USA or across the globe? I'm really interested to find out which broadcaster will have it in UK and Ireland.

Hard to know but you'd have to imagine BT's current deal with the UFC, added to the fact they are a big player in rights-bidding, they might have first refusal. On the other hand, Sky are more synonymous with big-time boxing and they're not oblivious as to how many it will sell.

Official PPV numbers are US-only. So when Floyd-Manny did 4.6m, it was just US. There was obviously millions if not tens of millions more people watching it worldwide but countries have different arrangements, some is like BT where you buy the channel to get the fight, others sell the PPV cheaper etc.

If Conor and Floyd could do 4m or 5m buys @ $99.99, then the total revenue from the fight would be sneaking up towards 1 billion worldwide, when you factor in all the other countries buys and rights-deals.

Do Sky ever release SBO PPV figures?

Like for Anthony Joshua fights and the like? I've never seen them published really?

A few numbers where thrown around, along with the claim it broke the Sky/UK record.
    But nothing official afaik.
