Hey did they bring the fibre to the last house that 150m or did they leave him last to bring the fibre up before doing the splitters. The reason I ask I'm last house on my road but they didn't bring the fibre up far as my house.Im on there fibre lookup and on goverment map for get it,Im in feaking limbo about it now.

They will run the fibre from the splitter a max of 4 poles/200m to the house according to a person in the know that posted here. Gonzo's install was 4 poles from the splitter.

Actually in my case, they ran a new fibre cable about 300 meters up my private lane and gave me a splice box all of my own in the farm yard at the end of it :)

Could be a secondary splitter off the primary splitter. Is your house one of the 300,000 rollout?

It's connected with a few weeks now and the road at the end of my private lane was originally a green line on the roll out map,so one of the first, not one of the the ones added

Here's a pic of the box in the yard with the reel on it before I was connected
The nearest other box like it is at least 500 metres away about 200 metres up the public road

Cork is doing well in the FTTH rollout.
Kerry appears to be on the back burner. I would love to know what goes into the decision to put one county before another. But as I'm living in Ireland long enough I'm fairly sure it isn't a precessional one.

Waits and waits and waits and waits.

    Which box is the splitter?
There's a grey box on the pole at my sister's house that wasn't there before the fibre lads were out. Is that it?

It's the black box in my photo

All the splitter boxes I've seen so far have been black about 30cm high 20 wide & 15 deep, all the grey boxes as far as I know are for copper POTS.

How many poles before each splitter?

They generally only install splitters where there are houses, if there is a section of line that goes along a road that does not have any houses, there will be no splitter boxes.
Another poster said that it's up to 8 houses per box, around here, It's one splitter every 4 poles or so.

Primary splitter has 8 ports, secondary splitter off each primary port providing an extra 4 ports as required for a total of 31/32 connections per fibre. Max of 4 poles from splitter to house.

Anyone know what the wiring is for the Ethernet cable from the ONT to the Modem?

I think its this one but not 100% Standard_Ethernet_Cable_RJ45.gif

Thanks, it will Cat6. But I am looking for the actual wiring configuration. The modem was installed in a bad place and I want to move it by making a longer cable.

Once both ends of the cable you make use the same wiring scheme it doesn't matter which one you use but T-568B is the most common.

There is a distinct lack of work in progress of putting up fibre cables in my area in North East Co. Limerick. I'm talking mainly about the Pallasgreen and Crossagalla exchange areas in the last couple of weeks. There is no sign of work commencing in the Inch St Lawernce area as it is down for Summer/Autumn 17. Are they putting up fibre cables in Swords Co. Dublin not due until winter 17 according to another post in this thread?

A lot of the cable is underground.

From Pallasgreen exchange (Cloverfield) to Old Pallas is all ran underground in ducts. From Old Pallas to Pallas is also all underground. Dromkeen to
Pallas will also be underground - prep work is started in clearing any blockages / collapded areas as these underground ducts have been there 30 years.

So while it seems like there is little done, there actually is a nice bit already in place.

Still waiting for my area though. The bottom of our road is done, but nothing more has happened in the last 2 weeks since the splice box was fitted at the halfway point. The whole road is due to get it, just gotta play the waiting game.... :-(
Yes, very quiet in the area. No progress to be seen. You'd think they would move a bit faster with 650 more houses within easy reach.

    I know, very easy pickings.
But I think it#s a case of Eir rushing to pass the easier ones with fibre, and not putting as much priority into getting the final connections made.
It's maddening to drive past all that lovely fibre but no connection yet!!

Eir can only report properties as being 'passed' when they are available for the customer to place an order. So they might have all the fibre on the routes etc, but until the fibre is connected in the exchange and all back end systems updated so customer can order a fibre service, the houses aren't included in the 'passed' figures.

But they probably do need to stagger the number of properties going live in an area at one time so as to allow the installers meet the SLA of connections completing in 20 days.

No point passing 600 properties in an area and having 10% people sign up straight away. But only having 2 crews that work on installs in that area. Suddenly eir are fined for not meeting the 20 day SLA or whatever the figure was.

Perfect, thanks for that. Good to know.
Looking at the exchange on the openeir map it reports that FTTH is available to 250 customers, so I guess it is a step in the right direction!

Blogin In the Pallasgreen Exchange area Co. Limerick fibre cables follows the copper cables. The fibre cable going to Dromkeen is mostly going overhead on poles getting ducted where coppers are especially under high tension lines. I understand when the cables arrive at a village they tend to be ducted. Again between Cloverfield and old Pallas there are two or three multicore copper cables on poles but AFAIK there is no Fibre cables on the poles yet but I think it will be on poles. And all this road is marked yellow on Eir's rollout map. The Inch St Lawernce exchange building is located roughly halfway on the road between Caherconlish and Ballyneety. All cables are ducted on this road. I don't really know wether there are fibre cables for ftth use laid or not. There is none yet on poles in this exchange area yet.

someone posted a bad experience few pages back. i was talking to them on their chat and they use the same contractors as eir to install the fibre so any issues you're getting with the installation would probably happen with digiweb too

    Got connected eventually.
    1mb to 300mb option.
21st century now here in middle of no where

Best of luck to those still waiting.
    Hang in there

to be honest im so fed up with eir if i never had to deal with them again it would be too soon. Im hoping digiweb has a better system in place to keep track of orders and what not. To be honest they cant be any worse than eir

    Well done Peppa Cig.

I'm also going to take this opportunity to brag!
Just got installed today after 15 years with midband. Bit of a messy job smashing a tile and removing the skirting board to get access to the cabling, but I think I would have knocked the whole wall down if I had to, just to get installed.

    Delighted with these speeds!

Does anyone know if they will expand the yellow / blue lines at some point? 150m from the end of the line in an area where I can't get even a tenth of a meg down with their copper. Sickening!

So jealous. Keep tormenting myself by looking at the rollout map where houses on both sides (500metres ish) of us will have it soon enough.... but not us.

Only if they're awarded one the NBP contracts.
