Completely missed the point of my reply.

Stick a camera in front of a drunk Irish fella in Bordeaux last summer and ask him who'll win the Euros and he'd be like "ireland of course" with a dozen lads cheering behind him.

He knows well Ireland weren't going to win it.

Stick a camera in front of a drunk Irish fella in Vegas and ask who wins they'll be like "McGregor of course" with lads cheering behind him.

Too Tough to Die's point was it's going to be cringey all the boys on the lash being interviewed saying McGregor will win.

My point was they don't actually believe it :)

It's not comparing the sports, it could be cross-country skiing for all it matters, if the "lads are on tour" and a camera in their face, they're going to say stupid sh1t they don't actually believe.

No, you have it wrong! Ireland were guaranteed at least 3 group games and the potential to win any of the 3, so actually if you asked people outside the 3 matches you'd of got normal people predicting wins over Italy Belguim or Sweden, and sure enough they beat Italy,

In this case there is zero chance of him winning a single round probably a single exchange in the fight so theres no comparison, of course you might get event fans there who show up to anything if Ireland are represented an have a drink,

There is no sane person that thinks he can win bar himself and I use the word sane loosely about him.

Very cute announcing the McGregor side is a done deal. They'll never get Mayweather's side done, and then McGregor can go on and on about how Mayweather ducked him. That's all I see in this

They are going on like they are controlling the whole thing . They do not control the deal. They are the employer of one fighter . Mayweather dictates if and how the fight happens and on what terms. they can take it or leave it, not the other way around. They do not present him with a contract and ask him to sign .

I agree its the only reason for them announcing it.

You don't play Boxing ( or MMA but this will be a boxing bout )

If Nevada sanction the best boxer of the last 20 years against and amateur boxer with a 0-0 pro record I give up.

I know money talks but come on ..

A very rare disagreement but read what I wrote again:

I said if a drunk Irish fan was asked who would win the entire TOURNAMENT, and had a drunk crowd behind him, he'd say "Ireland!!" for the cheers.

Same in Vegas. It'll be "McGregor!!" followed by cheering and drinks flying.

That's not what they actually genuinely believe!

Anyway Conor has a punchers chance, just like Ireland had last summer.

They'll be in Vegas alright but as you said with ticket prices, there'll be very few at the fight.

I fear for the future of the interwebs if Conor somehow ko's Floyd.

It will genuinely explode and we will all have to go outside and talk to real life people again like the good old days.

I hope it happens at this stage for the spectacle of it all. I imagine Floyd will demand 10 billion and a pink unicorn to sign though.

A more apt comparison is if Bayern Munich tried to play the All Blacks in a game of rugby.

You're right, one plays with their feet and one plays with hands and feet

McGregor throws punches and knocks people out, Mayweather throws punches and wins on points

There is people who genuinely believe though that Conor will win, These are the casuals who tune into Ufc when he's fighting and these are the people who tend to go to Vegas and the likes

RTE reported the deal on the news few mins ago.

There are. Facebook was full of them when the fight was announced. Telling us that age was against Mayweather and doesn't have the stamina etc that McGregor has. It's laughable.

The only time i can see McGregor laying a glove on Mayweather is when the ref tells them to touch gloves before the first round starts.

Question - if by some miracle or divine intervention Conor wins, what will you say?

I'll take a wild guess.......age was against Mayweather and he didn't have the stamina

I wonder when the exchanges put this up and there's decent liquidity how short Floyd will go.

Pros will surely back him into ~ 1.05

Honestly, I'm hoping it happens just for the sheer bedlam.
Can you image the salty tears everywhere. I'd lap them up while laughing my ass off.

Markets have been open a while.
    Mayweather 1.05-1.1
    McGregor 7.0-8.0

They both opened slightly longer, so the fact its off the exchanges right now means the bookies are getting away with a bigger overround.

I'd expect him to go off at 1.05 or less. McGregor should be available close to 20s

Extended interview on the Floyd-Conor stuff with Dana.

    Reading between the lines -

September 16th or bust for them and we'll know by the end of May.

Dana reveals when they felt they lost the date, Conor texted him saying (basically Fck it) "get me another fight (in the UFC)".

    Timeline here:

May 7th - Dana says they lost the September 16th date to Canelo-GSP
May 8/9/10th - Conor texts him saying F it, get me a fight.
May 11th - Dana says GSP v Bisping is off.
May 19th - Dana says still talking to Al Haymon.

The biggest fight the UFC can put on in 2017 would undoubtedly be Conor v GSP. Firas Zahabi came out again pushing for the Conor fight this weekend. It seems to me Dana/Conor are keeping that option in their back pocket in case the Floyd negotiations go south.

Floyd has fought bigger punchers and is known to have one of the best chins going. About a 1% chance of landing anything decent on Floyd, and a pretty safe 0% chance of KOing Floyd. Only way he can win is if Floyds ankles snap and he can't stand and a gust of wind knocks him over.

Personally I feel it's highly unlikely that if this event even happens in the first place, that McGregor would have the cardio to go 12 hard rounds with any boxing pro.

Also Mayweather is an older athlete, even the best slow down a step or two at this stage of their career.

Do I believe McGregor will win, as much as I'd like to hope we would, I just can't see it happening.

That being said you never know.

However one thing that is for sure is that the level of hyperbole on both sides of the argument is getting tiresome, and posts like this exemplify the tit for tat posts here lately between both extremes.

Saying he has a 0% chance to knock him out is hyperbole.

Saying he has a 1% chance to win is hyperbole.

Saying his only chance is for Mayweather to break his leg is also hyperbole.

Look I agree with the core point a McGregor win is highly unlikely .
I'd just rather go without the silly season comments is all.

Do you think Conor hits harder than Canelo, Hatton, Maidana, Mosley or Cotto?

Do you think he has better hand speed or shot selection than any of them? Better foot work? Head movement? Better anything at all in terms of boxing?

Because Floyd took everything they had and lit them up like Christmas trees.

No I don't actually which I stated in every post I made, I think he will get comprehensively beaten.

However I still firmly believe statements like Mayweather has to break his legs to lose are nonsense.

He wouldn't be the first champ to come back from retirement and get taken out by a huge underdog these things happen. Do I think it will happen...no
Is there a better than a 1% chance... Imho yes there is.

    .

Exactly....anyone who wouldn't even give him a punchers chance are being as unrealistic as the ones they accuse of being up McGregors arse, he doesn't play golf for a living

'Punchers chance' ...when the underdog/outsider can be outclassed in all forms but has the power to change a fight with 1 punch ........tell me I'm wrong

Lighttweight isn't a mess tho. There's clear cut no1 contender for him to fight

Tony v Khabib were booked, Khabib won't fight until Autumn now.

    Alvarez fighting Porier again.

Nate lost his last fight to Conor.

Light weight isn't as staked as it once was or is made out to be.
