Well looks like McGregor has agreed to his side of the deal. Wonder what cut he's getting.

A large part of me still thinks this is just playing the media game and keeping his name out there while on a haitus. But then again it'll probably be second only to MayPac in PPV numbers with the hype and promo.

The fight itself will be ****, so **** paying for that. But the promotion will be free and should be gold.

Also should set the tone for 5am McGregor PPVs this side of the atlantic for when/if he goes back to MMA.

His BT Sport viewer numbers (around 250k, comparable to Crolla on sky at 9pm on a saturday) at that time are already decent enough, so with that much of a captive audience I'd be surprised if it wasn't considered already tbf.

I'm already cringing at the plane loads of drunken Irish gob****es in Vegas bigging up McGregor's chances in the days leading up to this fight.

    It still won't happen

Yupp, if it took that long for Conor to sign, I can only imagine the demands May will have.

Such a great film and really close to what's going on here. People tired of seeing black champ beating people so bring in a white amateur who beat the champ as an amateur, give him the nickname of Irish, dodgy dealings in the background and even Jeff Goldblum is very Ariel Helwani-esque.

Conor stands to make **** loads of money compared to mma, he needs it more than Floyd of course hes gonna sign a contract making him about 50m I wouldnt say he even read the terms if there is an actual contract signed which I have doubts about, the difficult part is Mayweather.

I've never really understood why people are bothered by this. It's the same mentality people used against the soccer fans in France and Poland 2016 and 2012.

Most people know Floyd is going to win just like most people knew Ireland wouldn't win the Euros but may as well enjoy it and hope for the best. Only live once.

The contest will likely be Conor swinging at air for 12 or less rounds but I'd love to see him land a couple of body shots, as that's the biggest target he can aim for. He has a tidy left hook to the body.

For Conor to exceed all expectations, he would need to win 1 round and lose something like 119-107. I'm not saying it's likely but winning 1 round would be a pretty big achievement.

I don't think Conor has the cardio or conditioning to be swinging at air for 12 rounds.

As for the fight result itself , if it goes ahead.
It will finish when floyd decides he wants it over.

Why is there 4 belts there? hes won 2 at 45 and the 55 strap, did I miss a title fight or something.

It's the 170 belt. McGregor loves a bit of foreshadowing.

It's not the same mentality at all. I'm talking about people who genuinely believe he will, or at least has a great chance of winning it - which he doesn't.

I never get that sense from the Irish fans following the International team to major tournaments. That said, i do cringe hard at the antics of those clowns too.

Ireland team at the euros is a stupid comparison, they arent playing an unbeatable team at another sport, there really is no comparison.

The extra one he took after the Alvarez fight. He walked out with two belts.

A more apt comparison is if Bayern Munich tried to play the All Blacks in a game of rugby.

    I've been to 189 and 194

There is no way the missus would let me go to this though as this is how the conversation would go

Hun is it ok if I head to Vegas to watch McGregor fight Floyd Mayweather is a boxing match ?

Her response - Why would you want to go to that sure didn't your cousin beat him before boxing ?

It's actually true , my cousin is now a plumber.

Please fight Diaz again and give me a genuine excuse to get away again.

I also feel the best comparison is asking someone who competes in a Heptathlon to face Usain Bolt in a 200m race.

Even though they both do it their gift is totally different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,455 ✭✭✭evil_seed

Very cute announcing the McGregor side is a done deal. They'll never get Mayweather's side done, and then McGregor can go on and on about how Mayweather ducked him. That's all I see in this

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

When does he get stripped off the LW belt so? 6 months since he fought for it and no plan on defending it anytime soon.

I think that's probably the sporting example.
(except for the fact it's the wimmins that compete in heptathlons, but we'll let that go as it works better than decatalon :D)

Completely missed the point of my reply.

Stick a camera in front of a drunk Irish fella in Bordeaux last summer and ask him who'll win the Euros and he'd be like "ireland of course" with a dozen lads cheering behind him.

He knows well Ireland weren't going to win it.

Stick a camera in front of a drunk Irish fella in Vegas and ask who wins they'll be like "McGregor of course" with lads cheering behind him.

Too Tough to Die's point was it's going to be cringey all the boys on the lash being interviewed saying McGregor will win.

My point was they don't actually believe it :)

It's not comparing the sports, it could be cross-country skiing for all it matters, if the "lads are on tour" and a camera in their face, they're going to say stupid sh1t they don't actually believe.

Probably the other way around TBH

Her response - Why would you want to go to that sure didn't your cousin beat him before boxing ? The average ticket price for Floyd v Manny was $6,260 and it's projected to be $8,000 for this, are you dealing drugs on the side?! :pac:

    FYP

Best comparison is clearly James Toney v Randy Couture, start and end.

Exact apples for apples comparison of the sports crossing over.
