Got an item delivered yesterday that I ordered on 27th April, must be the quickest delivery I've ever got from China. Still waiting on other stuff from Feb/March though.

Ordered two lots of things from the same seller at the end of march, both dispatched at different times, the one that was dispatched later arrived in Ireland yesterday and was delivered today, the first lot is still in transit somewhere but hasn't reached Ireland.

Two items delivered this morning. One posted on March 25th and the other on April 16th. I think the second one is a record for me.

I've gotten a couple of really quick delivery in the past 2 weeks too, e.g. 8 days from ordering by standard post, it doesn't make sense though why they would be pushing through new stuff quick but still holding stuff from last year

The process might have changed - and current items go through different workflow than backlog of old ones, which are slowly being processed.

ive gotten nothing from wish in months - just keep requesting refunds - you'd think i'd cop on now and stop ordering!!
stuff from last year never arrived
when i first start ordering about a year ago, there were no issues at all, couple of months waiting time but since probably October, nothing i ordered ever came.

I ordered about 12-15 packages from China in March. Most of them are in Ireland since the middle of march/ start of April according to the tracking but nothing has happened since. The later orders started arriving 2 days ago but the earlier ones still haven't arrived.

Seems to be a common theme here.

I have a few items ordered from Wish they all seem to have this as the last tracking record
    Mar 22, 2017
In Transit - Arrive at destination airport, Flight No.: AC088-1908
Location: Arrive at destination airport, Flight No.: AC088-1908

AC088 is Air Canada from Shanhai to Toronoto. The tracking on some of the Chinese sites seems pulled from thin air most of the time.

They want to close two temporary sorting centres in Dublin. So we could have:
    DMC: Operating Properly
    Temp1: Slow mode
    Temp2: Slow mode

So new mail that hits the DMC fires straight through whil e the rest is queued.

    Is it flying over Ireland?

The -1908 part is Toronto - Dublin ... still find detailed tracking on free post/low value items like this dubious though.

I'm with the sea change in policy by An Post since Oct/Nov to waylay it all into storage; for delivery at its convenience and deter future users of such a poor revenue generating route for them.

    Dear Mr Magentis.

I refer to your recent correspondence regarding An Post’s delivery service.

As Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, I have responsibility for the postal sector, including the governance of An Post, but day to day operational matters, such as An Post’s delivery service, are matters for the board and the management of the company and not one in which I, as Minister, have a statutory function.

I have forwarded your correspondence to the An Post Company Secretary, Mr Brian Fay, for his consideration and direct reply.

I trust this clarifies the position for you.

    Yours sincerely,

    Denis Naughten, T.D.

Got this back in response to an email I sent to minister Naughtens office.

I got 2 items posted from China 2nd week of Jan today, but also got an item I purchased on gearbest 10 days ago!!!

Received my last outstanding item today.

    Ordered: Jan 29th.
    Received today.

    99 days in total

All for a $1.50 item (which was refuned at the beginning of March).

Received a package yesterday that was posted on the 21/02. Two and a half months. 6 more to go from around the same time.

23/02 arrived today. For strange reason, there was "poland postal code default" printed below my address on the packet. Transit country?

Sounds like it was misdirected. Was your Eircode included?

I had ordered a replica helmet from China with an expected delivery time of 30 days. Two months later I messaged the seller who told me he didn't ship to Ireland and had refunded the order without telling me.

I went to eBay and ordered the same helmet with free shipping from India for the same money...it arrived 5 days later!

A guy I work with used to be in an post and he still meets up with blokes who work there.
He told me an post have opened a depot in the west of Ireland (I think) specifically for tat arriving from China.

The sheer volume of low value packages plus everything else you can think of is causing logistical problems so they're deliberately delivering it much later than other, especially domestic mail.

Any actual proof of that other than a friend?

Almost the exact opposite of what my postman says. When I suggested that An Post management didn't want to pay overtime as the reason for the mail from China not being sorted as it arrived he said that they weren't that busy sorting and didn't need any overtime to sort mail from China.

Hard to know who if anyone is right.

it was. IRELAND was the last word in the address. And then Poland below, weird...
Bought the same item from the same seller, will see how it goes this time...

I have heard something similiar to my3cents, An Post are not being paid for delivering mail from China and with the increased volume of things coming from China, An Post cannot afford to pay overtime to have this mail delivered.

Sorry but not quite what I was saying. My postman maintains that An Post can manage to deal with the post from China but is creating an artificial problem by not sorting it even though they have the capacity without having to pay overtime to sort it.

It may however have built up to such an extent that overtime is needed to deal with the backlog in a timely manner.

Not sure what to believe on this any more. Received a packet this morning that was posted on April 14th.

Received a Packet from Hong Kong this morning 10th of May 2017, that had arrived in Ireland on March 17th 2017, so almost two months in Ireland! Disgraceful performance by An Post.

Let me throw out their a theory. AP are purposefully delaying post from china in order to pressure the Chinese Postal service to pay more for deliveries.

If I'm not mistaken, international post is normally delivered for free, due to the assumption that they send as much post to a particular country as comes from it. For instance roughly about the same amount of post comes from the US as is sent from Ireland to the US.

This system breaks down when you have massive amounts of post going in one direction only, for instance from China to Ireland, but not back. Thus maybe AP are delaying post from China to force them to come to a different agreement.

If thats what they're doing, which my gut says they are but no strong evidence for, then its totally the wrong way to do it as the UPU set these deals and all the national POs in western Europe have the exact same issue. Thats the venue to raise it.

If they're trying to stop Irish consumers shopping on Asian sites, then they're doing a good job of that.
