I'd say the Super Bowl didn't have anything to do with it. He's still on close terms with the Seahawks organisation and struggled through another year after then.

Seahawks have moved on and couldn't afford to keep him even if they wanted to. Lynch only wants to play for one team. If Seattle get anything for him then it's a bonus but cutting him still seems likely to me. We shall see.

He is still officially retired which means they don't have to cut him. If he comes out of retirement he is a hawks player. I imagine he will annoy coming out of retirement about 2 mins before the deal is official.

Does anyone know if he would comeback on the same terms before he retired?
I mean he signed up to a contract that didn't include a year off (and losing football shape). Given that a return was always possibly, how could a team maintain the cap space on the basis a player 'could' return?

When you retire in the middle of a contract your contract is frozen until you return and you return into it as it stood when you left. It doesn't count against the team who hold your rights when you are retired. If you decide to come out of retirement then the team have to account for your contract unless the cut you or trade you.

They don't have to cut him but he isn't going to play for them, they don't have the cap space to keep him even if he wanted to play for them and he won't play for anyone else other than the Raiders so there's no market for him.

The Seahawks have zero leverage if they wanted to be awkward. But they won't want to be awkward because they're a classy organisation and Lynch is a popular figure there.

Saedderal is classy?? The thing is they can force the situation. They can make cap space, lynch can't force the trade

The trade will happen, likely for a conditional 2018 day 3 pick. It would be seriously bad form for Seattle to stand in the way of this deal happening. They have nothing to gain by doing so. They are not going to make Lynch come back on $10m per year. Anything they get for him is a bonus and I'm sure they will treat it that way.

Seattle have no interest in making this trade awkward as they don't have the cap space, they will do right by Lynch. Also we have signed Lacy and have Rawls, Prosise and Collins. Running back is probably the position we have most depth at

Anyone see that about Eli Manning apparently emails showing his involvement in a Giants game worn fake Memorabilia scam. What a mad story if true. One thing that makes skeptical that he is involved a few of them including Fox mention AOL emails. Only old people and those who rarely use the interwebs use AOL still :D

    https://twitter.com/FoxSportsRadio/status/852650062136180736

It seems that the Giants and Eli were in on this, pretty ****ty from them to get involved in something like this. Also very interesting to see the lack of comment about it in general.

If a certain other franchise/QB was involved, it would be pitchforks at dawn and demand for eternal damnation of those involved.

If found guilty I'd imagine there would be some sort of ban coming Eli's way from the NFL with the Giants likely picking up a fine/loss of draft picks.

Will be interesting to see this unfold over the next few weeks.

Yeah, but who would want Colin Kaepernick game worn merchandise anyway, even with how increasingly rare though those items have been in recent times?

ITKs on the Giants message boards are adamant that Eli has done nothing wrong. - Supposedly - all top players have deals in place to supply a certain number of "game-worn" items per game but that "game-worn" technically just means worn on match day, whether in warm up, warm down, or for a small portion of the game. It's completely unregulated and you as a customer will likely assume that your game-worn jersey or gloves or helmet is the one which has actually been worn during the game (understandably) but that is actually not likely the case.

In this instance - supposedly - a Collector complained that the helmets purchased looked brand new and Eli, because he's such a bloody good bloke, went the extra mile and tried to source replacements from the kit team.

I was in Vegas last week and the sports memorabilia shops there are full of game-worn merchandise. I'm sure there's similar in most other big cities without even looking at the dozens of websites where this stuff can be bought. There's only 16 games a season which doesn't seem enough to supply it all which kinda supports the story.

The whole thing is a scam and hopefully the light that is being shone upon it by this story forces the NFL to regulate it a bit better.

The fact his name is manning and its the NYG means Goddell will do what he does best and sweep it under the rug, nothing to see here... move along

Yea, considering every second article this time last year was about the Pats & TB it is very conspicuous by its absence.

I thought the thing with Eli and the Giants was that it was a smear attempt or something, or have I not been paying attention?

The email Eli sent to the equipment manager said, "I need two helmets that pass as game used".

Is that still the thing that their using to incriminate him with, or has there been more news?

100% agree and I am a collector of memorabilia and a lot of the items on the market are questionable at best.

The complaint here though and what they are blaming Eli for is game worn stuff he used. But to Eli's defense he wears the same helmet as do most players for the whole season so him tracking down a game worn Eli Manning helmet is near impossible.

I blame the sellers here for most of the merchandise as I have seen where they say "Game worn by the player who signed it" where is realism it is nothing more than a helmet worn by someone at some point and not necessarily the player in question just signed by the Star player.

The problem for Eli is misrepresentation and having to explain himself and also prove if he knew this to be the case and if he did technically could fall under fraud.

Be interesting to see how this plays out. The NFL should stay the fook away from it until something has actually been proven unlike their involvement with previous players and banning them.

I do think had it been Brady it would be headline news and another witch hunt but it shouldn't be for Brady and most certainly not Eli as the guy involved here. Let it play out and then come back and tell us he did something wrong. He will be proven innocent just you watch an old email inst enough.

He should probably get a few games suspension just for having a hotmail email account though, in fairness.

Will Eli have to hand over his personal phone? :P
    Geno for week one?

It's a very bizarre case (the benefits are minimal compared to the embarrassment of getting caught). Manning and the Giants deserves his/their chance to respond, but the leaks so far don't look good.

All I will say, is that this should not cost $5m to investigate (and waste).

I'd love to see Geno getting a shot next year, Eli is one of the poorer QB's in the league at this point, his arm is gone. If not for OBJ constantly pulling miracle catches & TD's out of his back pocket Eli would look even worse.
