The San Francisco 49ers have announced the release of cornerback Tramaine Brock. The move comes not long after he was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence. The release of Brock leaves the 49ers with $750,000 in dead money, and clears $3,550,000 in cap space. He was entering the final year of his contract with the team.

It looks like the 49ers are not going to have any more tolerance of this sort of thing like they did with Aldon Smith etc. This is similar to the Bruce Miller situation where he was released pretty much straight away by the team, if this is a policy its one I'm pretty happy with.

Lattimore at number 2 has to be a realistic scenario at this point.

The NFL have fined several players " who attended in a sporting event at a Las Vegas casino "

I'm not even making this up though sporting event is a bit of a stretch for an arm-wrestling contest.

They really need to clamp down on sporting events in Vegas involving NFL players.

I mean lucky for the NFL there is no prospect of a team in Las Vegas...

They really don't have a clue how hypocrital they are as an organisation.

Could be a good change for him, I always felt the Dolphins never had a clue what to do with him.

Along with Luke Joeckel we now have the 2nd and 3rd pick from the 2013 draft, two reclamation projects

Seahawks looking for a high 1st, or a low 1st and a good player and small contract for Sherman.

    Thoughts?

What drugs are they on actively shopping Sherman like that. Christ above way to undermine a very volatile player. He's 29 and whilst a great corner what reasonable team is going to take on that size of a contract, restructure it and extend it to less the hit on their cap number.

Not that the Giants would have any way to get involved from a financial standpoint but I'd pass. Why are the Seahawks looking to dump him, he had another 2 years left on his contract, something is amiss here.

He's aware of it, says he knows its a business but is also aware a big offer to get him to move probably wont be made.

There is some chat on titans boards of them being interested, however i dont think Sherman would want to come. But we have 2 firsts, we had a gaping hole in our CB rotation last year, Sherman would solidify that position for a couple of years and we have oodles of cap room.

If the Bears did a trade back I'd be happy with them shopping a mid-first for him but his salary is outrageous even if you have the cap room and a longer term restructure. Can't see our front office being interested anyway, the emphasis on the draft is too strong to be giving up first rounders.

EDIT: Also as Higgins said, there's something not right about a team actively shopping around a superstar player like that. In all probability it's just to do with his salary and the longer term for the Seahawks, but you never know with sneaky Pete.

It's a tough one, a high 1st rounder for a 29 year old CB is a very tall order - but he is possibly the best at the position, and is the best playmaker there. Charles Woodson went to GB at the same age and just about any GB fan in hindsight would have given up 2 first rounders for what we got from him if not more - though he played at a level in GB that would have had him way up in the best DB of all time discussion had he been doing that his whole career.

One potentially big knock on Sherman is that he is system dependent, for example as much as it would be a perfect fill in GB the problem would be Dom Capers insisting on using him as an off zone coverage guy just... because. The Titans have two first rounders, a good bit of cap space, an up and coming team, and an absolutely brutal secondary... they pick at #5 (from the Rams) and #18 though they don't have a second rounder. If I am correct they like to play a more physical style of defense, anyone know how he would fit there?

EDIT: I see heli covered it already. :o

They need cap space and corner is it that important in there system particularly when you have early Thomas over the top. I don't think they will get that at all for him and unless he falls in a perfect situation he will likley be a disappointment for any team at that money

I'd imagine they are letting him go because of all the bickering and fighting on the sideline last season involving him and other players. He was at the centre of it and it happened quite a lot.

RIP. I'm not a steelers fan but if you appreciate the history of the NFL then dan Rooney and the Rooney family have had a huge influence on the game we all watch every year. The Rooney rule for example is one good thing.

Anyone see that about Eli Manning apparently emails showing his involvement in a Giants game worn fake Memorabilia scam. What a mad story if true. One thing that makes skeptical that he is involved a few of them including Fox mention AOL emails. Only old people and those who rarely use the interwebs use AOL still :D

Quite frankly if it turns out to be true the AOL email address will be the more embarrassing bit

I like how in all of the articles they stress his old email address :pac: More concerned about making out he doesn't use AOL still than proving his innocence

If true, its an extremely scummy and pathetic thing to do.

A multi-millionaire QB scamming money off his own fans.

Given it has had an effect it must not be ridiculous as teams are hiring people they would not have otherwise. And it still means people are getting the jobs on merit.

Regular season fixtures next Thursday apparently

Seemingly so, seems to be between the chargers and chiefs for the Patriots on opening night, the Falcons will get home first after winning the Nfc,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,310 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Yeah thinking about it aren't the falcons opening a new stadium I'd presume tv networks would like them to have a good prime time game at home and leave Falcons and Pats for a regular SNF later in year
