Do you ever think about those you've loved before?

The one you loved or lost or left?

Are they still on your mind?

I sometimes do think of them; usually when I'm stressed and I find it a bit funny seeing as realistically it's dead and gone *it's with O'Leary in the grave* :P

Are exes ever on your mind and why?

Usually when I wonder if I made the right decision staying a Bachelor... (Dating does get frustrating or boring as you get older) Then I remember all the reasons why we (various lovers) broke up, and I'm even more determined to stay single.

Yeah, the summer after secondary met this girl.

She had a Mustang and we used to drive around in it and listen to Radiohead.

On her 18th birthday we got matching tattoos.

We used to steal her parents alcohol and climb up on her roof and talk about the future.

Never thought that one day I'd have lost her.

Someone told me she had the tattoo removed.

In a parallel universe, she'd still be mine.

Sometimes, The old nostalgia goes to work and I think why and where are they now ? I have to bring myself back to reality and remember why we broke up.

    Hate that one.

Everything on the WN Best Of albums is golden, except for that ill-judged, fast-forward billox.

Old ex-es would not prey on my mind at all. Their loss.

But ex-friends do for some reason. Would spend more time pondering that.

Yeah I think about my first love sometimes. She's American so my life would have been very different had anything ever come of it. She went home and that was that.

    I wonder about this sometimes.

It seems to be a modern phenomena whereby you work your way through various men and women to get to the "one", the one you settle with, say compared to the past.

The problem is is the post love, nuclear fallout post love, especially if you're a teenager and this stuff all comes up at once like. Those are some of the most intense feelings you'll ever have, and I wonder is it contributing to a modern era which is increasingly cynical and fùcked up with mental health issues. That weird, zombie like state where you're stuck watching old movies and listening to old songs in order to be a tourist in your own youth again. Seems like I'm not the only lad who has this with Radiohead?

fitter, happier, more productive, a pig in a cage, on antibiotics

I think about the first love a fair bit, I'll admit.

Yeah I'd be like that too. People from childhood and teenage years who I thought I'd be close to forever, & seeing them now would probably just be awkward.
Exs rarely cross my mind though

I think about old friends a bit. My best friend from secondary school who I fell out of contact with and now lives on the other side of the world. An old neighbour who was like a sister to me until we fell out over something entirely stupid about seven years ago. Other school friends who I was once close with but are now like strangers to me.

I wonder sometimes if I'll regret not taking better care of my friendships. I can be a bad person for maintaining contact, and as I get older I realise how difficult it is to find really good friends.

No, never think of them. Or embarrassing situations. Or all the poor life decisions I've made.

I do think of exes from time to time, but I'm on speaking terms with most of them so if I want to know how they are I just pop them a message.

I spend more time thinking of friends that fell by the wayside over the years.

    "The One That Got Away"

Summer after high school when we first met
We'd make out in your Mustang to Radiohead
    And on my 18th Birthday
    We got matching tattoos

Used to steal your parents' liquor
    And climb to the roof
    Talk about our future
    Like we had a clue
    Never planned that one day
    I'd be losing you

    In another life
    I would be your girl
    We'd keep all our promises
    Be us against the world

    In another life
    I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
    The one that got away

I was June and you were my Johnny Cash
Never one without the other, we made a pact
    Sometimes when I miss you
I put those records on (Whoa)

Someone said you had your tattoo removed
Saw you downtown singing the Blues
It's time to face the music
    I'm no longer your muse

    But in another life
    I would be your girl
    We'd keep all our promises
    Be us against the world

    In another life
    I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
    The one that got away
    The o-o-o-o-o-one [x3]
    The one that got away

    [Bridge:]
All this money can't buy me a time machine (Nooooo)
Can't replace you with a million rings (Nooooo)
I should've told you what you meant to me (Whoa)
'Cause now I pay the price

    In another life
    I would be your girl
    We'd keep all our promises
    Be us against the world

    In another life
    I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
    The one that got away
    The o-o-o-o-o-one [x3]

    In another life
    I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
    The one that got away

The odd time. Mostly when I'm thinking about how far I've come & the lessons I've learned along my 'dating career.'

One ex i used to think about a lot, because i put so much energy into that relationship and it took a lot out of me, and i never felt he got that or understood the impact he had on my mental health. One day i googled him out of curiosity, & found a load of post breakup poetry he wrote online, basically acknowledging & thanking me for everything I did for him. The sense of closure that that brought was HUGE, so it does pay to check them out occasionally :)

I accidentally stumbled on an ex of mine on Facebook the other day, someone I always regretted breaking up with and had always wondered what could have been. Took one look at her recent photos and thanked my lucky stars I'd made the right decision :D
