Wouldn't it be 30 days from the 1st of March before your plan changed?

Maybe so. I asked the Three rep on boards when my plan was due to change but she didn't give me an answer and advised to ring customer care. Customer care told me to wait until my next billing date which is another month away.

Well wasnt I getting a similar bill monthly from eir, having left them ages ago. Went onto their live chat and it turns out that they owe me €82. Cheque will be with me within 30 days. Thanks FrostyJim! In fairness their online chat was very good and they emailed me a transcript of the chat.

I tried logging on to my eir but no joy. What info did the chat require?

If you move to the 3 PAYG can it be setup to auto top up every 28 days? Or is there any reminder message to say your 28 days is up?

I managed to log in to my old eir account and pull the account number from that. After that all they needed was the usual, such as name address etc. Maybe just reference the email that you've been getting and they should be able to search for your account.

Hi all. Here goes, I have two phones both renewed in Nov. for two years. S6 is 40.66 amonth I get a 15% discount which brings it down to 31. The other phone is 25.41 a month also same discount down to 19.06. I guess on the second phone is not worth cancelling. Should i cancel first one and change to 30 day contract . Thanks in advance

I contacted them via chat tonight..

    On bill pay €25.41 p/m
Contract expires in oct with an upgrade option in July.

I was lucky with my last upgrade - I got the S6Edge for €89 even though I dropped from the €50 p/m plan i was on - I think that was an error on their side as the phone was the same price if I stayed on the €50 plan.

Anyways - was offered a free month to renew my current plan but agent was unable to check if I could get an early upgrade on that so have to phone them to check.

Pity the deadline is april 3rd with the new sammys being announced on the 29th of March.

The choice I have as i see it is to take a gamble on getting a decent upgrade in july or going on a SIM only now - either way I'm going to be on a €30 p/m cost unless I switch elsewhere.

There is no 28 day auto top up facility or reminder message facility. You will need to set your own reminder in your planner or schedule a reminder txt to yourself. If you don't top up in time your credit will be very quickly eaten up with out of bundle charges.

When I talked to them they said the top up options would be changed in april to allow top up every 28 days

They said the same to me but I've no reason to believe that any new system will work any better than the old one which was designed to fail with many complaints about how it left users exposed to three gouging credit.

That would be a very welcome change & I look forward to it happening.

Anybody else get a phone call from 3 offering them a free upgrade and a €38 p/m all inclusive (calls, txts, data and 2GB overseas data) as an incentive to stay?

I'd say they are losing a mountain of customers.

I was in the middle of the weekly shop so didnt want to commit there and then. But asked them for a number the call if I reconsider. They really did not want me to go PAYG.

I cancelled on the 9th March and went to 30 day rolling sim contract. I was assured (3 times) that my Friends/Family 20% discount would still be applied to my account so all was good.

Last night my wife rang to cancel her contract and move the same 30 day sim only plan. She asked them to confirm she would keep her 15% employer discount but was told that it was not possible, She told them that I had been told that I could carry mine forward and was told that I had been given incorrect information and that the discount would be lost.

I then spoke to the agent who informed me categorically that the discount would not be applied to the 30 day sim only plan and was effectively lost.

I then requested her to get her supervisor to listen to my call on the 9th March and get back to me as I was not accepting that.

I got a message to ring them this morning and done so. I was told they had listened to my call on the 9th March and I was indeed given incorrect information and that my discount would not carry over on the 30 day sim only plan. I was offered 2 months free calls in compensation. I told them that wasn't good enough and that due to their error I had lost a discount I had for the last 5 or 6 years and had been able to carry over each time I upgraded and I wanted that back. The agent told me it wasn't possible, I told him of course it was and that he should go back to his supervisor and get me back on my old plan and keep my discount. So after being put on hold several times while he consulted with his supervisor, he came back and told me I could move back to my old plan and I would keep my discount on my account. I asked him to confirm that the discount would be applied should I decide to upgrade at the end of the year and he confirmed that it would.

So to anyone else told that discounts would be carried over on to new plans or sim only plans, they don't and if you want to retain the discount then you need to ring them back and get put back on your old plan.

I plan on holding onto my 6S until the iPhone 8 comes out and upgrade then so I want the 20% discount as its too big to give up and in the long run benefits me more than in the short term because the flexi max 350 plan I was on will now cost me €36 (with my discount) and so for €6 a month, I can get a new phone rather than staying on the 30 day sim only plan which costs me €30 p/m.

So I guess in a year or so, you'll be back to evens. Fair play for showing 3 you can play the long game :D

I got the call today as well, but I stuck with PAYG. I'd say everyone will be getting a call.

Do you mind me asking what type of phone is in the free upgrade?

I'm wondering this too. I have an iPhone 7 so not sure what they could offer me. They've rang me three times (always during work though so haven't been able to answer).

Yeah it is a long term thing as its going to cost me €6 more a week at present but I have to think long term as I will be changing my phone within the next 12months and don't want to buy one straight as its simply not worth it.

Yes that's right, I was changing plan and was told the discount would carry over, it doesn't.

Actually a good thing. Gets rid of the price conscious and keeps those willing to take it. Network gets faster and their rev per user goes up.

My PAYG sim becomes ~7% more expensive but still a great deal. Happy out.

What are the main differences between being on the old O2 network & the Three network. Going switching to the sim option in a few weeks

Was this switching from Bill pay to sim only? I rang and was told discount wouldn't stay, and I understand from Cee-Jay-Cee that he has discovered similar
